About Us
The Upper Room (TUR) works with a wide range of financially and socially disadvantaged groups including homeless people, people with long-term mental health conditions, asylum-seekers, refugees and ex-offenders – helping them to improve their lives and become productive members of society. Central to our offering is our UR4Meals service, providing free, home-cooked food to people who cannot afford to provide for themselves. We are also very proud of our UR4Driving programme, which supports people recently out of prison with free driving lessons in exchange for community volunteering. Gaining a driving licence greatly enhances their future employability prospects and helps break the cycle of re-offending. Additionally, our UR4Jobs project focusses on both client wellbeing and breaking down the many barriers to employment faced by disadvantaged people every day.
The role
Is an exciting new edition to the TUR team, created to capitalise on the fact that the number of businesses in our catchment area is 45000+, but we’re not trying to talk to all of them, just target a few – ideally by gaining referrals and recommendations. So the job is to proactively find those local businesses happy to talk to us, understand what they might be looking for by partnering with a charity, share our brilliant story along with the business case (which is strong) for them to get involved with us in some way. We have made an excellent start, we already have a small number of great corporate partners, and this job is about taking it all on to the next level. As you would expect the role is about creating contacts, networking, maximising the face-to-face time with prospective partners and where possible gaining referrals. And, ultimately this is all because, the bigger our portfolio of corporate partners all feeling great about their involvement with us, the more able we are to raise the funds we need to keep up with an ever-increasing demand for our services.
About You
You live within - or know well, West/Central London, you probably need a job with some working flexibility and want to have genuine belief in the product or service you’re talking about. You have a CV that demonstrates solid experience in a comparable role in a ‘business-to-business’ environment, a role - the success of which, is dependent on the levels of energy and proactivity you provide. This could be in another charity, CIC or other Non-Profit organisation. However, if you have a solid B2B background and want to explore a change of direction you are also very welcome to apply. You are comfortable and confident with working autonomously, you can articulate and ‘bring to life’ your story through your presentation skills. You also need great listening skills so you can build a picture of what each new corporate partner is looking to achieve by signing up to our cause. You have used Microsoft suite products before – including PowerPoint. A driving licence and use of a car is desirable as the role requires regular client visits, some of whom may not be accessible by public transport.

Senior Community and Events Fundraiser, an excellent opportunity to join a long-standing regional Hospice, with Head Office based in Surrey area.
- This role can be either Full-Time (37.5 hours a week) or Part-Time (30 hours a week).

As the Senior Community and Events Fundraiser, you will work with the Community and Events Lead, and be responsible for ensuring the delivery of the community and events fundraising plans and activities. You will managing a varied portfolio of events, including third party, challenges and bespoke. Along with engaging with the community to develop and implement plans for maximising income and support from individuals, groups and businesses.
Key Responsibilities for ensuring the delivery of community and events fundraising plans and activities:
- Manage, achieve and where possible exceed Community and Events income targets, taking a lead for specific projects, activities and events.
- Support the Community and Events Lead, contributing to the development of annual plans and budgets.
- Project manage challenge events (e.g. London Marathon, bike rides, skydives etc.), liaise with third-party organisers, participant recruitment and participant support.

Working alongside the existing Community Fundraiser in London, this role will engage with the Dioceses in Westminster, Brentford & East Anglia to establish and strengthen links to individual bishops and diocesan communications staff. Your role
As Assistant Shop Manager, it is an exciting opportunity to work alongside the Shop Manager in Surbiton's brand new Scope shop (Victoria Road, Surbiton, KT6 4NS). The shop will be opening mid 2024. You will be able to use your creativity and flair to flourish in our retail environment. Our retail roles are full of variety, and every day is different! One day you might be be generating and processing stock and designing an eye-catching window display. The next day you might be recruiting and training our wonderful volunteers. Your role will be to further develop and deliver a range of events and initiatives that the Harlequins Foundation offers to its supporters to help us to raise the funds we need to deliver our programmes. As the charitable arm of the Club, we deliver a variety of programmes aimed at achieving improved outcomes for education and employability, wellbeing and inclusion. The role will play a key part in delivering high-profile fundraising events while building the Foundation’s engagement with different communities and supporter types, being instrumental in delivering campaigns and events to engage new audiences with the Foundation’s purpose.

Key Responsibilites

- Deliver high quality supporter care and stewardship, ensuring a quality experience for supporters at all events that reflect the values and identity of the Foundation, and build long-term relationships with our supporters

Qualifications and Experience
- Educated to degree level or demonstrable equivalent experience
- Exceptional events management and project management experience; managing a range of events and budgets in size, profile and scale

- Update the trusts and foundations database and managing the pipeline of activity
- Prepare tailored applications to trusts and foundations
- Manage reporting deadlines to funders

- Create budgets working with the Executive Director, Finance Director, Artistic Directors and Project Leads
Individual and Corporate Giving
- Create individual giving schemes, exploring the potential for new initiatives such as membership and legacy programmes

- Research potential corporate supporters – both corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sponsorship
- Pitch to potential donors and supporters
Event Planning
- Create a programme of cultivation events which could:
- thank and nurture existing donors
- act as a precursor to giving
- introduce individuals and companies to potential campaigns
- begin new relationship development
Good practice, such as ethical fundraising
- Development of an ethical fundraising statement, in partnership with Executive and Board
- Ensure compliance with fundraising regulations
- Supporting team in being part of a fundraising culture
General
- Day to day management of fundraising budget, creating and monitoring income targets and delivering compelling company messaging around charitable giving on and offline.
Ideal candidates will have skills and experience as shown in the candidate pack including:

- Lived experience of disabling or marginalising barriers.
- Understanding and experience of performing arts landscape, key figures, organisations and funders.

- Fundraising track record, delivering against targets (in a similar sized arts or not-for-profit) and of securing significant donations at the five-figure level or more.

- Adept at supporting and structuring negotiations and at building relationships with stakeholders including Arts Council England.
- Thorough knowledge of the relevant fundraising legislation, regulations and financial issues and fundraising obligations of arts charities/Arts Council National Portfolio Organisations.
- Strong literacy, administrative, time management and organisational skills.
- Proactive approach to continuing professional development.
- Experience of dealing with public sector organisations at a senior level.
- Membership of relevant educational and/or professional bodies.
