The Role

Reporting to the Stroke Service Delivery Coach, the coordinator will work with the local Health and Social Care services to receive referrals and support stroke survivors and their carers. This is an opportunity to join Refuge as a Housing Support Worker to provide high quality practical and emotional support to survivors of domestic abuse and their children living in our dispersed refuge accommodation in Warwickshire.

You will be forming a team that makes up the Warwickshire Dispersed Safe Accommodation service. This service will provide emergency safe accommodation across Warwickshire with high-quality domestic abuse support, ‘by-and-for’ services for survivors of domestic abuse and their children.

Housing Support Workers will work closely with the Floating Support Workers and Child Support Workers (who provide the personal support to survivors of domestic abuse and their children) to ensure that the emergency accommodation and support meets the whole range of survivors’ needs.

The post holder will be responsible for the Health and Safety and maintenance of emergency safe accommodation units in multiple 1–3-bedroom properties across Warwickshire. This will include the practical set up and maintenance of home furnishings and utilities in each property and the management of the cleaning and replacements required between each use of the accommodation unit.

The post holder will provide support to survivors fleeing domestic abuse around accessing housing benefit for the dispersed accommodation and support survivors with exploring and accessing move on accommodation.

The Housing Support Worker (HSW) will be responsible for ensuring that the properties will maintain Refuge’s accommodation standards and comply with all Health and Safety legislation and requirements

Housing Support Workers will work in partnership with both statutory and voluntary sector partners to ensure that the properties are managed to a high standard and ensure a welcoming approach to all survivors and their children.

As part of this role, you will be required to participate in an out-of-hours on call rota.

At the Guide Dogs our Access Assistants help our employees to live the life they choose by working as a driver and support worker to enable the person supported to carry out their duties efficiently and effectively. However, there may be some flexibility around how hours can be split, which we are happy to discuss at interview.

The Access Assistant will be confident when driving to new and unfamiliar locations and will possess strong written skills, including the ability to take accurate notes and keep clear records. They should be comfortable using basic IT tools such as email, word processing, and data entry programs. The role requires someone who can follow verbal instructions and work independently once tasks have been explained. Reliability and good time management are important, as is the physical ability to lift and carry items when needed.

Previous experience working with individuals who have physical or sensory processing access needs would be beneficial, as would familiarity with accessibility software or adapting digital and printed content. Experience supporting professional or training events may also be useful.

The successful candidate will approach their work with a calm, friendly, and respectful manner, maintaining a high level of discretion and confidentiality. They should be adaptable, open to varied tasks, and comfortable working one-to-one or in unfamiliar environments. Summary and key purpose
 
This new role will be primarily responsible for developing, marketing and managing our individual giving together with working across other fundraising disciplines. You will be a key member of our fundraising team, producing compelling fundraising communications, stewarding individual donors, including regular donors and gifts in memory. You will ensure that our donors receive excellent care.
 
Our Individual Giving programme will incorporate one-off donations, regular giving, digital fundraising, appeals and in-memory giving. You will do this, with the support of our recently appointed fundraising agency, who you will manage our relationship with week by week.
 
A critical element of the role will be how we market ourselves to potential new donors, taking them on an emotional engagement journey in order to solicit regular gifts.

• Creating and executing accessible, responsive web solutions while adhering to existing brand design requirements
• Ensuring that best practices are followed for both back and front end performance

About You

You will have/be:

• Solid LAMP stack experience
• Strong skills in HTML, JavaScript and pre-processed CSS, preferably SASS
• Experience of in working in a mobile first development environment
• A working knowledge of Drupal 8-10 and its core and main contributed modules
• Fully conversant with version control, preferably Git
• Experience with Jira or any other similar project management system and of developing in an agile environment
• Happy to work in a command line environment, knowledge of working with Drush
• Knowledge of package and version management via Composer
• Experience working with AWS environments, especially EC2, S3 and Cloud9
• Experience theming with Twig templates
• An open mind to new technologies and development practices

This role requires some travel for team away days.

The organisation is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families. Providing tailored support to tens of thousands of stroke survivors each year. This support includes one-to-one and group support, funding vital scientific research into stroke prevention, acute treatment, recovery and long-term care, and campaigning to secure the best care for everyone affected by stroke.
