About KLS’ Future Foundations education team 

Future Foundations is an education programme of Katherine Low Settlement. Since 2004, KLS’ Future Foundations education team of 10 part-time staff and over 100 volunteers, have supported young refugees and their families in Battersea and the London Borough of Wandsworth to thrive in their education. Through mentoring, family support, casework and homework clubs, we provide the tailored support each young person and their family (if they have one) needs to overcome the barriers to education they face at home and school. 

Key Objectives for this Role

Working with the Lead Youth Worker you will: 

Homework Clubs

•Collect up to date consent information for all young people joining Future Foundations

•Support with creating session plans for club nights

•Research and source necessary resources activities 

•Support to plan and run engaging and fun activities/ongoing projects for the young people

•Use participatory methods to involve young people about Clubs 

•Ensure children’s participation and encourage ownership of and responsibility for the Clubs

•Implement our behaviour management policy

•Liaise with families/carers to communicate information regarding Clubs and Mentoring

•Support with maintaining robust recording and monitoring systems (including registers) and ensure quotes, case studies and feedback are saved and stored

•Maintain, collect, edit and store documentation of activities, including photos, case studies and videos, for Newsletters, funding reports and other records

•Maintain excellent safeguarding practices

•Support whole team with making referrals to external partners and support agencies

•Support the Lead Youth Worker with running a weekly Youth Club for post-16 young people

•Support mentor coordinator with running early years mentoring sessions, when needed

•Work evenings and varied working hours

Trips and activities 

•Work with the Lead Youth Worker and Community Learning Coordinator to develop an annual programme of activity and trips during school holidays

•Ensure that this is done in collaboration with our children, young people, their families and other KLS projects

•Assist with the summer programme development, organisation and delivery

Teamwork and reporting

•Work with Future Foundations team members to coordinate work, refer young people and/or parents/carers to our casework and advice team.

•Contribute to reports for trustees and funders and attend periodic meetings with funders

•Communicate well with other teams within KLS to provide a high-quality service to our members

Other Duties 

•Participate in regular supervision and annual appraisals; help to identify your own job related development and training needs.

We are seeking an individual to undertake the dual role of promoting the profile of the RAF Benevolent Funds welfare offer, whilst also carrying out welfare casework. This is a community-based position working from home but covering the South East of England, East Sussex, West Sussex, Surrey, Kent and Essex.

Post holders will be expected to undertake holistic assessment of need both remotely (over the telephone and online) and when required in person across their region. You will be expected to work with individuals who may have complex and sometimes challenging welfare needs, assisting them by identifying appropriate support from within both the RAF Benevolent Fund and the wider statutory and military charity sector, ensuring that support is made available to meet their need through the case working process.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in a social welfare role supporting individuals and will have strong people and relationship-building skills, as well as empathy with or understanding of issues affecting the Armed Forces community.

This is home based and the candidate must have their own vehicle for use of traveling around the region covered. Occasional travel to London will be required. The successful candidate for this role will need to be Enhanced DBS checked and prove they have the right to work in the UK.

About the Role

We’re looking for a dynamic and experienced Therapy Service Manager (Job Share) to co-lead our passionate therapy team at Headway East London. The Therapy Service Manager is responsible for leading the therapy team to plan and deliver an excellent service which empowers our community of brain injury survivors. Our Commercial Team

Currently we hold a single commercial contract worth around £3m per year delivered through 12 libraries. Our aim is to reach a point where we have a menu of commercial contracts that all of our 175+ member library services can choose to benefit from according to the skills and assets of their service, their focus and strategy and of course the needs of their communities.

In the current funding climate for local authorities and local government services, these contracts are not just about the income and the services they can provide, but about demonstrating nationally the power of the library sector, and how national services can be delivered locally through library services and the communities they serve.

This is a long term aim of ours – we are seeking to build the commercial team with this role and while it is initially a 12 month contract, our hope is that with the role in place we can generate the income to sustain and build on it.

•  Leading group intervention sessions for male, adolescent, and non-binary survivors of sexual abuse, assault, and rape.
• Collaborating with the Group Work Manager and the organisation's safeguarding lead to effectively address safeguarding concerns.
• Documenting client interactions, participation, and identified risks using our client case management system and by adhering to organisational protocols.
• Formulating comprehensive plans for group sessions, further refine the group model, and conduct risk assessments when necessary.

Salary: £35,500p.a. FTE

Action for Refugees in Lewisham (AFRIL) are recruiting for an Expert by Experience Coordinator to join our supportive and growing team. The Expert by Experience Coordinator is a new role in our small dynamic charity. The postholder will work to ensure the voices and perspectives of individuals with lived experience of asylum and forced migration are integrated into the design and delivery of AFRIL services and policy work. This role involves facilitating communication, promoting co-production, and empowering individuals to share their expertise to improve services and guide policy priorities. 

The post involves coordinating our monthly Members Forum, and working with the core team to feed this into policy and service development, alongside thematic and sometimes practical support to our Allotment Steering Group, Rainbow Club Youth Council and Asylum Hotel Residents Forum. The postholder will develop the AFRIL ambassadors scheme, creating opportunities for former clients to continue to be involved in shaping AFRIL, and work with the Director to develop a governance level co-production structure as agreed with the Board of Trustees. 

We are looking for a good people person, able to engage and inspire others, who demonstrates a collaborative approach to working with a range of stakeholders and in particular AFRIL clients who come from a variety of backgrounds. The postholder will be highly organised, have good project planning and execution skills, and a good working knowledge of the issues affecting refugees and asylum seekers in the UK. Community language skills are an asset.

Action for Refugees in Lewisham (AFRIL) is a registered charity that supports asylum seekers, refugees, and vulnerable migrants in South East London. We support people to lift themselves out of poverty, assert their rights and rebuild their lives in the heart of our community. We provide both crisis support to meet immediate need, and longer-term, flexible programmes to tackle the underlying problems that lead people to be in crisis, supporting people to integrate, contribute and thrive. • Rainbow Club Supplementary School - providing weekly supplementary education in English and Maths, arts, music and sports activities to children from refugee, migrant  and asylum seeking backgrounds from 4-11 years old, plus youth volunteering programme and Youth Council (NRCSE and Sanctuary Status). 

• Casework and Advocacy Service: providing AQS accredited advice, casework and legal interventions in asylum support, community care, housing, welfare benefits and related matters. Pre-Action Protocol letters to challenge unlawful public law decisions. The service currently provides Level 1 immigration advice under the Immigration Advice Agency.

• Destitution Support - a fortnightly Food Bank in partnership with St Peter’s Church providing food, food vouchers, toiletries, and other essentials, alongside a warm hub with free cafe, information and support. Small grants for essential items and cash payments for food in emergencies. Securing and distributing gifts in kind, e.g. winter coats, laptops and data. 

• Allotment of Refuge - a welcoming community of food growers that supports improved health, wellbeing and integration of members, whilst protecting the local environment. 

• Immigration Project in partnership with Southwark Law Centre, providing free legal advice and representation to support people to regularise their immigration status. 

We also use our frontline experience, together with our clients, to engage in Policy and influencing work to improve the services and policies that impact our client group. This includes advising the GLA on 3 asylum related working groups, and as a member of the London Housing Panel.

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic leader for our transformative LGBTQIA+ youth project. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in LGBTQIA+ young people’s lives, leading a dedicated and passionate team.

Main Responsibilities:

• To lead on planning and facilitating group sessions, activities and trips for the Project Indigo group. Planning to incorporate the views and interests of members and develop opportunities for partnership working.
• Managerial responsibilities, including line management, budget management, monitoring and evaluation
• Developing and delivering strategic projects within the City and Hackney CAMHS Alliance to promote LGBTQIA+ inclusivity

Main Requirements:

• Strong experience in LGBTQIA+ youth work, and understanding intersecting social issues impacting young LGBTQIA+ people
• Understanding of best practice for supporting young LGBTQIA+ people and promoting LGBTQIA+ inclusivity within youth services
• Management experience on multi-faceted projects; strong leadership skills, ability to take initiative, and work effectively to manage competing priorities
