Purpose of the role: 
As an experienced trusts fundraiser, you will drive the growth of our income from trusts and foundations. Your exceptional skills in building connections, securing funding, and delivering outstanding stewardship is vital to transforming the lives of people affected by spinal cord injury. You will manage and develop an increasingly diverse portfolio of charitable trusts, foundations and Grantmakers, including the National Lottery Community Fund. You will be a part of a passionate Partnerships Team, creatively working across trusts and foundations, corporate relationships and special events to maximise opportunities to sustain and grow income.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

General

• Research and submit compelling proposals and applications for high-value grants and donations (5+ figures) to secure income and support long-term sustainability. 
• Prospect research of new funders and partners capable of supporting Back Up’s work. 
• Provide timely, accurate reports and updates to funders showing the impact of funded work.
• Delivering an effective stewardship programme to engage and thank funders, working closely with the partnerships team to inspire our donors 
• Maximise opportunities through Back Up’s networks, including the fundraising team, services staff, SMT, development board, board of trustees and volunteer networks. 
• Managing multi-year budgets and ensure accurate forecasting, monitoring and evaluating performance to meet agreed targets. 
• Support the maintenance and development of internal systems to manage restricted income and effective data flow and quality to support delivery of the Trusts and Foundations Strategy
• Ensure up to date records of grants and donations and funder communications. 
• Manage, support, and develop the trust fundraising team and plans. 
• Build strong working relationships with services and finance to align funding with strategic needs and business plans

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Essential:

• Proven success in securing income from a range of charitable trusts and foundations 
• Experience managing staff or volunteers and delivering against targets 
• Strong relationship-building, engagement and stewardship skills 
• Confident communicator with excellent written skills 
• Experience in supporting planning and monitoring of budgets, pipelines and KPIs

As an Evidence Officer, you will work on a range of behaviour change and infrastructure projects, providing monitoring, evaluation, and analytical support. The Strategy, Impact and Evidence teamplays an important part in supporting our vision by providing robust evidence on sustainable and active travel that ultimately influences and shapes policy, practice and behaviour across the UK.

Focusing on monitoring and evaluating the impact of infrastructure and behaviour change programmes, you will work on a range of projects around the UK and be involved in the planning, delivery, analysis and reporting of our monitoring and evaluation work.

About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a person to take on a key role in GUCE’s  small but expanding team. The Programme Lead will be responsible creating a structure and policies for GUCE to grow and hit our mission.

As our Programme Lead you will play a leading role in delivering our contribution to the two-year National Lottery funded project ‘Community Energy People’.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Forecasting finances for GUCE as a whole.

• Report to funders.

The role will include the development and execution of a Communications and Marketing Strategy for the organisation.  Alongside the strategic planning of our comms work, the role will also include creating materials and content for campaigns to engage members of the public, potential partners, funders and investors.

• Developing and executing a Communications and Marketing Strategy, to build GUCE's brand, support existing project events, hiring, volunteer opportunities, and initiatives.

• Assisting the Development Officer and PM in communications to stakeholders and the public for projects, using the REGEN guide as the basis.

• Ensuring a steady flow of social media content that supports our projects and campaigns, on various platforms; mainly Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

• Creating and sharing engaging content, including text images and videos that promote GUCE and its key values. This may include attending in-person events on occasion to capture content.

This is an exciting opportunity for a person with experience in project management to join our small but expanding team. The Project Manager for Community Energy will be responsible for converting opportunities for local renewable energy generation and energy efficiency projects into reality. They will take projects from concept, through funding and construction to management.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Deliver new potential projects, such as opportunities with Watford industrial units:

  • Work with technical specialists to assess the energy needs of the community, including energy demand, infrastructure, and renewable energy potential (solar, wind, biomass, etc.).

  • Identify and engage stakeholders (local authorities, local organisations, energy providers, and residents).

• For new and existing projects: 

  • Develop and monitor an overall plan to realise projects including timelines, budgets, resources and risk management strategies in conjunction with the Development Officer / Project teams.

  • Manage share offers.

  • Communication with potential local investors.

  • Manage paperwork.

  • Ensure the projects are realised rather than remaining just good ideas.

  • Work with others to manage cross-functional teams, including installers, contractors, and local community leaders.

Salary: Pro-rated salary for 2 days per week, £13,000 to £19,000 per annum (£34,000 to £47,000 full time equivalent) depending on experience plus 3% pension contribution.

Hours: 2 days per week (15 hours). The working hours can be flexible.

Location: Home-working, ideally within the GUCE catchment area from Watford to Tring.

You will need to travel to meet stakeholders, attend relevant meetings and visit potential sites. You may be called upon to work outside office hours.

Contractual arrangements: 12 months fixed term with the opportunity to extend, subject to 3 months’ probation.

There is a notice period of four weeks from both sides.

Holidays: The equivalent of 28 days per annum excluding Bank Holidays, pro-rata for the part-time nature of the post.

The Women Off to Work (WOW) Training & Engagement Project Connector will play a key role in engaging and recruiting local women onto this employability programme, and supporting them to access accredited and non-accredited training courses through inclusive outreach, programme support, co-design of training opportunities and workshops.

We are delighted to have been awarded funding by the National Lottery to deliver a third phase of our incredibly popular Women Off to Work (WOW) programme. Since 2017, WOW has supported hundreds of local women from predominantly Global Majority communities through holistic training and pathways into work programme.

WoW delivers a blend of life and vocational skills training, promoting general employability and improved wellbeing through work experience placements, internships, job brokerage, practical advice on self-employment and micro-businesses, ESOL classes and more. The programme provides women with opportunities to gain formal and accredited training qualifications and provide support with tailored into-work action plans.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men and it’s harming too many lives. At Prostate Cancer UK, one of our top priorities is funding research that leads to real change. It’s vital we do our best to make sure this research makes a meaningful difference to men’s lives, and that’s where you come in.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Senior Research Impact Officer to help us understand, communicate and accelerate the impact of the research we fund.

This role sits in the Research Impact and Engagement Team. You’ll be working at the heart of how we track the progress of completed research projects, share success stories and support researchers in turning their findings into ways to improve the lives of men affected by prostate cancer. You’ll take responsibility for half of our portfolio of completed research projects. This means building strong relationships with funded researchers, understanding how their work is progressing, and supporting them to achieve meaningful impact for men affected by prostate cancer. Using your scientific knowledge and communication skills you’ll translate research outputs into clear, engaging stories to demonstrate the value of our work. Using your understanding of the steps needed to take research from bench to bedside you’ll help monitor the success of our completed research portfolio.

What we want from you

This role is a vital part of how we deliver on our mission, to stop prostate cancer harming men and their families. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about research making an impact and hold a bio-medical science degree (or a degree in a related subject), with research experience. You can understand complex scientific information presented in reports, publications or presentations and explain these complex concepts in a simple and engaging way to a range of audiences including peers within the charity, as well as men affected by the disease. You’ll be motivated to consistently perform to the highest standards, with an eagerness to trial new ideas, identify new opportunities and solve problems.

In any one day you could be helping develop an impact case study for the website, interviewing researchers for project updates, supporting delivery of a research event, or using social media to disseminate the work of our funded researchers. Your primary focus will be on the impact of our funded research, working closely with colleagues in the Research Impact and Engagement Team, as well as working closely with our research funding team, and with other teams across the charity.

OVERVIEW

This role will be a key member of our ambitious team, delivering a growing portfolio of fundraising campaigns, fundraising events, and supporter engagement initiatives. You’ll oversee our supporter journeys, manage our communications channels, and build meaningful relationships that drive income and deepen our impact.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Fundraising Campaigns & Income Generation

• Work with the Head of Fundraising to plan and deliver our 12-month supporter journey – including fundraising campaigns (online and offline), events and appeals.
• Manage our calendar of challenge events (e.g. The Don’s Cycle Challenge, Wombles Walk, Sponsored Skydive).
• Grow supporter-led community fundraising in the local area.
• Lead outreach to engage new local partners – including small businesses, schools and clubs – promoting fundraising opportunities and supporting their initiatives.

Communications & Marketing

• Alongside the Head of Fundraising, lead all communications for the charity.
• Create engaging fundraising content for email, website, and social media to drive online donations, event and programme sign-ups.
• Work with the wider Foundation team and club comms team to create content for social media, e-newsletters and our website.
• Promote Foundation programmes and campaigns to fans, families, and local supporters, driving participation and donations.
• Create marketing materials (posters, flyers, etc.) to support charitable prorammes and campaigns.
• Collaborate with Senior Managers to share the impact of the Foundation through monitoring and evaluation reports. Including creating the annual organsiation Impact Report.
• Manage the Foundation’s website, ensuring content is regularly updated, fully functioning, and aligned with key campaigns, events, and programmes.

​Supporter Engagement & Stewardship

• Manage the supporter engagement programme, delivering a rolling 12-month plan of personalised and meaningful touchpoints.
• Develop and implement strategies to encourage increased giving and recruit new regular donors.
• Maximise engagement and retention of individual supporters (particularly low- to mid-level donors) through excellent donor care, timely thanking, and compelling communications.
• Coordinate supporter stories and participant case studies to inspire giving.
• Manage our weekly e-communications, using engaging content to recruit new subscribers and convert them into donors, event participants, or programme attendees.

Supporter Care

• Act as the first point of contact for fundraisers and donors, delivering first-class stewardship and support.
• Ensure timely, warm and effective follow-up with all supporters, helping them feel inspired, valued and connected.

Events & Community Activation

• Support the delivery of fundraising and engagement opportunities at AFC Wimbledon fixtures and stadium events.
• Represent the Foundation at local events, cheque presentations, and community partner visits.

Administration & Data Management

• Maintain accurate supporter and income records in our CRM system, ensuring compliance with GDPR and data protection laws.
• Liaise with the Finance Officer to process donations, including Gift Aid claims and income reconciliation.
• Provide regular fundraising reports and insights for internal and external stakeholders.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential

Qualifications & Experience

• Hold a relevant higher education or industry recognised certification or have a minimum of at least 1–2 years' experience in a fundraising, communications, supporter engagement or similar role
• Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with supporters, partners, or donors
• Experience planning and delivering fundraising campaigns, events, or community initiatives
• Experience using digital tools for fundraising and engagement (e.g. mass email platforms, design tools, giving platforms, CRM systems)
