Night Support Workers enable people with particular needs to manage their tenancies and live independent lives of their choosing in the community. Night Support Workers are responsible for ensuring continuity of a support service at night and for keeping customers and the building safe.

The shift pattern for this role is as follows: 10pm to 8am for 10 nights every fortnight, including every other weekend. This is a waking night position and sleeping on shift is strictly forbidden.

Head of Finance

The Finance Business Partner in Volunteering is responsible for providing the first line of support and assistance with the development of financial plans, analysis of the financial performance and forecasts of the Volunteering businesses. The successful candidate will have:

• A full professional accountancy qualification (CCAB or CIMA).

This is a new role at Befriending Networks, as we seek someone who is up for the challenge of fundraising to support the continuation of our work in supporting the network of befriending organisations and ensuring that meaningful social connection is available to all.

The role will work closely with the CEO to deliver a fundraising strategy, which will focus on trusts, grant-givers, and corporate collaborations across the UK.

The key focus of this role

1. Generate income from small grants from trusts and foundations for specific projects and activities over the short to medium term.  

2. Assist the CEO in the preparation of strategic grant applications for work across the UK, with an initial focus on England, Scotland and Wales to deliver key priorities of our Strategic Plan over the longer term.

3. Development of potential corporate partnerships and collaborations.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Centre Manager to play a vital part in leading one of our residential centres, ensuring we deliver unforgettable experiences for children and young people aged 8–13. This role will oversee operations at our Ashbourne site in Derbyshire, contributing to the safe, smooth, and inspiring running of our centres.

Salary: £35,000 depending on experience

About the role:

As Centre Manager you will take overall responsibility for the site, its buildings, grounds, vehicles, and on-site team, ensuring our centres are safe, compliant, and welcoming. You will lead staff and volunteers, inspire strong teamwork, and play a key role in delivering exceptional residential breaks for children and young people.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

• Overseeing the daily operations of the centre, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety, safeguarding, and risk management.
• Leading and managing the on-site team (Housekeeping, Maintenance, Catering, Team Leaders, and Volunteers).
• Managing budgets, resources, facilities, and contracts to ensure efficiency and sustainability.
• Developing and delivering land and centre management plans to ensure our facilities are safe, welcoming, and environmentally sustainable.
• Ensuring children enjoy nutritious meals, exciting activities, and a safe environment during their stays.
• Raising the charity’s profile within the local community, encouraging third-party use of our facilities and supporting local partnerships.
• Producing quarterly centre-based reports for senior leadership on H&S, incidents, and development projects.

About you:

We are looking for an experienced Centre Manager with strong leadership and operational skills, as well as a genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of children and young people.

You will have the following essential skills and experience:

• Excellent understanding of Health & Safety, safeguarding, and child-centred activity planning.
• Proven experience in facilities, land, or fleet management.
• Strong leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a multi-disciplinary team.
• Financial awareness with experience managing budgets and resources.
• Confident communicator, problem solver, and decision-maker.
• A commitment to sustainability and green practices.

It would be desirable if you also have:

• A recognised Facilities Management or H&S qualification.
• Experience of working in child-focused environments.
• Food Safety Level 3 qualification.
• Previous budget management experience and commercial acumen.

You’ll lead a talented team of nine (including four Managers), creating a culture of collaboration, creativity, and high performance. This is a pivotal role in achieving our ambition to deliver a step change in income. You’ll be a visible and confident ambassador for Parkinson’s UK, engaging senior staff, trustees, and volunteers in building high-value partnerships that make a lasting difference for people affected by Parkinson’s.

What you’ll do

• Develop and deliver ambitious, evidence-based strategies to maximise income from trusts, foundations, and various statutory grantmakers.

• Oversee the cultivation of key funders and senior volunteers, unlocking networks and securing long-term, high-value support.

• Lead senior staff and volunteers in building relationships with trusts and statutory funders, identifying opportunities for growth and adopting fresh, innovative approaches to fundraising.

• Work across the charity to identify funding opportunities and ensure our programmes and projects are well-positioned for support.

• Create compelling, outcomes-driven funding proposals that clearly demonstrate impact and inspire transformational giving.
   

What you’ll bring

• Proven experience of trust and/or statutory fundraising at a strategic level

• Proven ability to identify and present compelling multi-year fundable proposals including complex project budgets and fundraising targets 

• Strong leadership skills including leading dispersed internal project teams towards clear goals, and to prioritise and communicate organisational updates

• Experience of successful line management, overseeing, mentoring and developing skills of team members 

• Experience managing an annual income budget (£1m+) including monitoring activity, performance and re-forecasting

Independent Advocate Requirements:

• Strong communication and time management skills to successfully work remotely.
