Location

We all work from home, however travel and overnight stays are required as part of the role.  You'll attend around three symposia a year, which usually run from Mondays to Thursdays and are currently held in the Lake District.  You'll also attend up to three half-day meetings in London a year, which may require overnight stays depending on how far away from London you live.  The biennial prizegiving ceremony is also held in London. It would be helpful if you had a full UK driving licence and access to your own car.

We are looking for an additional support worker with lived experience of self-harm to join our existing team working with people who have attended A&E for self-harm treatment. This role has been developed specifically for people who have lived experience of self-harm. Self-harm can take many forms but for the purposes of this role we mean things which someone has done to themselves with the clear intention of causing harm.

This role is not about sharing personal stories of self-harm, but some exploration of your experiences will be part of the interview and training process. All questions will be provided in advance of the interview and training will be run in a small, closed group. Both the interviews and training will be facilitated by people who have used their self-harm experiences in their working lives.

Duties and responsibilities

1. Support the day to day running of the Lived Experience Service by:

• Offering tailored follow up support to people of all communities and genders who have attended A&E for self-harm treatment including face to face or video chat meetings, researching community support and guidance in finding and using self- help resources based on the principles of mutual experience, empathy and holistic support;
• Where appropriate sharing ideas about ways of achieving goals, drawing on personal experiences and assisting people to decide what they want to achieve based on their circumstances and personal resources;
• Administrative tasks including researching and updating service resources and maintaining accurate client records in line with organisational confidentiality, data protection and safeguarding policies.
• Supporting their own wellbeing by engaging in regular supervision and appropriate training

2. Contribute to the overall running of the organisation through:

• Attending team meetings
• Supporting the development and/or running of organisational resources, events and campaigns relevant to their role
• Having an awareness of the aims of the organisation and adhering to Safeguarding procedures at all times

We are looking for two individuals to help deliver an impactful GOALS service across London and build effective networks of support for people before, during and after treatment.

A main aspect of the role will be to support and work closely with individuals presenting with lived experience of gambling harm issues and/or people affected by this issue. The GOALS Supporter will understand gambling related harm and dependency issues and be able to ensure safe working environments and take a robust lead on safeguarding and harm minimisation procedures and policy.

The post holder will work with the Director of Support Services and GOALS Coordinator to support the development and maintenance of the systems and structure of the service, ensuring that governance and polices are implemented, safeguarding and safe working practices are systematic and develop a clear understanding of how the service integrates with the national gambling treatment service.

Other support activities will be developed, such as group support and weekly meet ups.

The role:

The Head of Programmes is a wide-ranging and key role within the Smallwood Trust’s leadership structure working closely with the CEO, the Grants Team and the Board.

Important priorities for the Head of Programmes will include:

Working closely with the CEO to implement and operationalise Smallwood’s refreshed grant-making strategy which is due to be approved by the end of 2024. This will include budgeting and implementing/designing new grant processes and procedures where appropriate.

Shape and deliver an evaluation framework that enables us to more effectively track progress against our longer-term outcomes as identified in our theory of change and gender-lens framework.

Instill a learning and continuous improvement culture across the organisation, to ensure that a coherent approach is taken with our grants programmes and our funding meets the needs of our Grant Partners.

We are looking for someone who has the ability to bring technical analysis to life in a youth work setting and can communicate insights in an accessible style to different audiences. This is a brand new, unique role to be an impact catalyst across both Carlisle and Barnet youth zones, generating support and building towards a ‘culture of impact’ in both organisations such that outcome measurement and impact reporting becomes routine and ‘every day’.

About the Role

You will lead on data analysis and reporting on the data held in Salesforce CRM, improving both the quality and quantity of monitoring and evaluation processes, driving improvements in data capture through training and upskilling the Youth Work team, strengthening the ability of both youth zones to demonstrate the measurable impact of youth work delivered. 

You will also be responsible for measuring and demonstrating both charities’ impact to stakeholders; authoring and providing the necessary data to the leadership and fundraising teams and Board (as required), annual publications such as Trustees Reports and annual Impact Reports. Innovation is a key aspect of this role, involving the introduction and embedding of new methodologies to enhance the qualitative data capture process.

You will collaborate closely with a cross section of teams within the youth zones, working with the Youth Work delivery teams to feed data into decision making, and with the Communications and Fundraising teams to provide impact measurement and analysis content for use with stakeholders and in donor reporting. Furthermore, it will align impact and data work with national and local policy, and use national census, health, police and other statistical data to position both youth zones for new income generation opportunities.

About you

You will:

• Be a competent, efficient user of Microsoft Dynamics 365 technology – especially for managing and manipulating data.
• Have experience of reporting suites such as Power BI and a knowledge and expertise using SQL and Azure.

To support the delivery of marketing and communications in line with our strategy.

Internal comms (50%)

· Support colleagues from across the organisation to develop communications plans for initiatives and change projects.

· Author or edit stories and content to inspire, motivate and inform our colleagues

· Design and distribute email communications to segments of our staff community

· Maintain and post news and events on our Sharepoint-based intranet

· Support with communications planning and delivery for internal events, webinars and meetings.

· Working with the Internal Comms Lead to continually improve and optimise our internal comms channels, including developing our SharePoint intranet.

· Plan, shoot and edit short promotional films.

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

Contract: Permanent
Hours: Part-time (14-21 hours per week). Additional hours may sometime be required, particularly for Trustee meetings, and can be taken as Time Off In Lieu.

The charity’s inaugural Volunteer Coordinator will lead on the charity’s existing and emerging volunteer activity, including recruitment, onboarding and management of volunteer groups. Volunteers will be key in the achievement of local impact, and the coordination of these vital roles will be equally as important.

The postholder will support managers in the creation and implementation of volunteering opportunities and ensure that the charity’s policies and procedures create a safe, supportive and effective environment in which volunteers can thrive.

FareShare South West distributes surplus food across the region to charities working with vulnerable people.  We need volunteers to do everything from driving vans to picking orders in the warehouses, and lots in between.

This role leads on rota and data management, working with warehouse managers and reporting to the Volunteer Recruitmant Manager in Bristol, with occasional travel.  Recruitment and retention support, and identifying individuals who would benefit from our flagship employability programme FareChance to help their personal and professional development is an important element, as well as working with the wider team to develop volunteering opportunities for corporate supporters and food partners.

Leading on volunteer wellbeing and support during the shift is key to the role, as well as undertaking training to keep abreast of best practice
