Main purpose of post
The main purpose of the Grant Giving Coordinator is to lead the efficient and
transparent administration of the charity’s grant-making programmes, ensuring
that financial support is delivered to partner organisations in line with the
charity’s mission to improve the lives of those affected by cancer.
The role is responsible for managing the full grant cycle—from application and
assessment to decision-making, monitoring, and reporting. The Grant Giving
Coordinator plays a key role in supporting applicants throughout the process,
maintaining accurate records, tracking impact, and ensuring that all activity
complies with internal policies, governance requirements, and charitable
objectives.
By coordinating funding processes that are accessible, accountable, and
outcomes-focused, this role helps to ensure that the charity’s resources are used
effectively to support cancer patients and their communities across the region.

Key Responsibilities

Grant Programme Management
 Coordinate the end-to-end grant cycle, including application
management, eligibility checks, panel support, and award notifications.
 Maintain and update grant guidelines, application forms, and supporting
materials.
 Manage the grant database, ensuring accurate records of applications,
awards, reporting deadlines, and impact data.
 Respond to enquiries from individuals, and organisations applying for
funding.

Assessment & Reporting
 Assist in assessing applications against published criteria, and prepare
summaries and recommendations for grant panels or decision-makers.
 Monitor grant reporting deadlines and ensure grantees submit required
information.
 Support the evaluation of grant outcomes, including gathering feedback
and reporting on impact to internal and external stakeholders.

Governance & Compliance
 Ensure the grant-making process aligns with the charity’s policies,
funding priorities, and charitable objectives.
 Maintain confidentiality, data protection, and ethical standards
throughout all grant-giving activities.
 Prepare reports for internal teams, funders, and the Board as required.

Stakeholder Engagement
 Build strong, supportive relationships with grant applicants and
recipients.
 Work with communications and fundraising teams to share impact
stories and promote funding opportunities.
 Support collaborative funding or partnership initiatives as needed.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable weather and climate scientist to join us at The Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS) as the Science Engagement Officer.

This is an exciting career opportunity for an individual who is keen to use their skills and knowledge to make a positive impact and advance the understanding of weather and climate in society through informal education. In this role, you will provide scientific support across science engagement project development, delivery and wider RMetS team operations. Reporting to the Head of Publishing and Scientific Engagement, you will have responsibility for developing training materials and co-delivering sessions for our climate change communication training, and you will deliver RMetS early career initiatives such as our career events. You will also create engaging content for various RMetS activities and stakeholders, and work with the media to enhance public awareness of weather and climate.

What you will do in the role:

• Develop training materials and co-deliver sessions for our RMetS training programme, including climate change communication training.

Essential criteria you will need to demonstrate:

• A background in weather and climate, either through: a degree in a scientific field relevant to weather and climate; OR a Master’s degree within a scientific field relevant to weather and climate, with a minimum of three subsequent years working in industry.
• Extensive knowledge across weather and climate, and evidence of involvement in activities to ensure ongoing current knowledge across diverse areas.
• Experience in communicating scientific concepts and information to a different range of stakeholders (for example policy makers, the wider scientific and social science community, or the general public).
• A friendly and open-minded approach, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a small team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to prepare documentation for outside stakeholders and willing to communicate with the media.
• A people person who has the confidence to proactively reach out to and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Excellent organisational skills including the ability to manage time effectively, balance multiple projects with strong attention to detail.

    Key Responsibilities:

• Process invoices, expenses, and payments promptly using QuickBooks and other systems
• Maintain accurate financial records, reconcile bank accounts, and manage supplier and customer accounts
• Set up and process electronic payments
• Handle income, donations, payroll inputs, HMRC payments, and credit control
• Provide first-line finance and administrative support across the organisation
• Prepare financial reports, support audits, and ensure adherence to financial procedures
• Assist with small projects and contribute to improving finance processes

About this key role

As our A&E Hospital Intervention Caseworker, you will assess referred clients and produce support and risk management plans based on your assessments, promoting inter-agency collaboration in the assessment and planning process, and including appropriate agencies in the delivery of the service.  You will also develop and maintain relationships with partner agencies, including hospital, police, local authorities and other voluntary organisations, plus to liaise closely with other St Giles teams with reference to referrals, avoiding duplication.

We will count on you to deliver a holistic support service, working solo or with colleagues as the situation dictates, where you will provide a practical service that will include social and housing support, accompanying to appointments, ETE options, benefits work and debt advice. Closing cases efficiently and positively, identifying a referral route for the client that will identify agencies that can be used for on-going support, and promoting the value of lifestyle changes to the client group are also essential duties.

What we are looking for

• Personal experience of the criminal justice system, lived experience of the issues facing this client group and/or experience of working with vulnerable young people and/or families
• Substantial experience of providing support, advice and advocacy and communicating effectively the needs of clients to other professionals
• Substantial experience of assessing the needs of young people at risk of significant harm
• Experience of using support plans, to enable people to successfully access support services
• Substantial experience of engaging successfully with ‘challenging’ young people
• To have a relevant qualification to a good standard or be working towards one
• Excellent IT, interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
• A professional, collaborative and flexible approach to your work

The role of Bereavement Wellbeing Practitioner is in place to:
 

• To be a part of the Bereavement and Talking Therapies team who offer emotional support to patients, carers, children and young people and families who have a life-limiting illness or are bereaved.
• Triage referrals and undertake assessments to appropriate departments with Bereavement and Talking therapy service.
• Trained professional in CBT/DBT/counselling.
• Plan and facilitate sessions for bereaved and pre-bereaved patients.
