Help shape the experience of volunteers across Rainbows

At Rainbows, volunteers support almost every aspect of our work – from fundraising and events, to our retail shops and the hospice itself – with over 400 individuals generously volunteering their time, skills, and passion.

As the Volunteer Coordinator, you'll play a vital role in ensuring those volunteers feel welcomed, supported, valued and able to make the greatest possible impact.

You'll also help shape how volunteering develops across Rainbows, supporting colleagues, improving volunteer experiences and championing the value volunteers bring to our work.

This is a varied and rewarding role for somebody who has experience of working with volunteers and enjoys building strong relationships, solving problems and supporting others succeed.

About the role

Working closely with the Head of Volunteering, you will play a key role in translating the Volunteering Strategy into day-to-day practice across the organisation.

You'll coordinate the volunteer journey from enquiry and recruitment through to onboarding, training, support, engagement and recognition. You'll be a trusted point of contact for volunteers, helping them feel confident in their role whilst also supporting colleagues across the organisation to involve volunteers effectively and confidently.

Alongside maintaining strong operational processes, you'll also help identify opportunities to improve the volunteer experience, strengthen volunteer engagement and support delivery of our Volunteering Strategy.

You'll also provide advice and support to colleagues across Rainbows, helping them involve volunteers effectively and create positive volunteering experiences.

No two days are quite the same. One day you may be interviewing prospective volunteers, delivering training, or supporting colleagues with volunteer management queries. The next you may be analysing recruitment trends, improving volunteer processes, or representing Rainbows at a community event.

What you’ll be doing:

· Managing volunteer recruitment, onboarding and induction.

· Supporting and guiding volunteers throughout their volunteering journey.

· Delivering volunteer training and development opportunities.

· Advising colleagues on volunteer involvement and good practice.

We’re excited to be recruiting for a key leadership position supporting Oasis’ youth and community work in the North West region (covering delivery in Greater Manchester and Bradford).With accountability to the Oasis Community Partnerships CEO the role of the Regional Youth and Community Director has three main functions:

1 Strategic management oversight of local Youth and Community teams

2 Regional development, working alongside other functions within the Oasis family

3 Being part of the national Youth and Community leadership team

You’ll be required to help grow our footprint, increase and diversify our partnerships and encourage the uptake of our programme. You will represent UKSR at community events, recovery walks and conferences and get involved in defined projects.

It’s essential for you to bring empathy, authenticity, and a deep respect for others’ experiences to all of your interactions. You should have experience in working with volunteers, understanding how to support and develop their skills. Previous delivery of training is essential, and if that experience has been gained in a peer-support or recovery setting, all the better. This role requires emotional intelligence; you’ll be working with people who have faced adversity, and your ability to support them within clear, professional boundaries is critical. Giving and receiving feedback, gathering data and other evidence to inform service development, and exercising reflective practice are all essential attributes.

You’ll also contribute to key projects that move SMART Recovery forward, adding your voice and insight to help shape what comes next. The role therefore requires project mangement skills as you will work on specific projects that develop our publications, training, communications and marketing. If you have a special interest and expertise in certain areas of our business such as social media and campaigns, training, volunteer management or copywriting we can develop this skill and interest as an enhancement to your role. Developing areas of expertise within our Co-ordinator team is something we are keen to do. 

As this is a home-based role, you’ll need to be comfortable forming meaningful relationships online, building trust and connection via email, phone, and video calls. We’ll provide the equipment you need, but you’ll bring the energy and adaptability to make remote working feel personal and productive. Regular travel across the defined regions is a vital part of the role, visiting SMART Recovery meetings in the community and within partner organisations, and offering continual support to facilitators, are all essential in helping our network continue to grow with the quality we strive for.

About the role 

Our mission at Hope into Action is to empower the local church to help end homelessness. For over 15 years we’ve developed our model and grown a network in 38 locations. We know that homelessness is more than just house-lessness: people need community and friendship, as well as accommodation. 

Our Community Connect pilot project has a big vision: to extend our church-based friendship and support to those at risk of homelessness. The project will complement Hope into Action’s core model of supported housing and aligns directly with the government's strategic emphasis on community-basedsupport to preventhomelessness. 

You will be instrumental in assisting 3 initial locations (Peterborough, Norwich & Southampton) to pilot the Community Connect programme and will work with the Head of Delivery & Training to create the structures, training and processes necessary to develop and grow it in more locations. 

You will support the local Co-ordinators at each location to promote the vision, set up partnerships, recruit volunteers and receive appropriate referrals from local authorities and agencies. 

There will be a budget to work to and defined goals to deliver as we seek to grow in years 2 & 3 and to see Community Connect launched in more locations.

About us

Peterborough was where Hope into Action began back in 2011. We are at the forefront of providing excellent quality supported accommodation to those that need it most in the city. Partnering with 11 churches, we currently have 16 homes each serving different demographics and strong relationships with other ministries and local authorities. It’s natural it is one of our initial locations for Community Connect and we’re delighted to be working with Light Project Peterborough on this venture. 

Norwich is also a city managed directly by Hope into Action UK. With 11 homes it’s been operating since 2012 and has our most experienced Team Lead. 

Our Southampton franchise is led by City Life Church and opened in 2020, it now has 7 homes and runs some other outreach projects to those on the margins, which make it another well suited and prepared location for Community Connect.

We believe that homelessness ends in community and that the church has a unique role to play.

The Membership & Community Coordinator is a new role, created to support the membership functions at Science for Animal Welfare (SciFAW) and the Humane Slaughter Association (HSA). 

Initially, the role holder will focus on delivering and growing SciFAW’s relaunched membership. They will play a central role in shaping the member experience, ensuring that our membership delivers genuine value and builds a thriving community. 

They will lead the day-to-day delivery of our membership offer across member, supporter and student pathways, creating engaging journeys that attract, retain and inspire people to connect with our work. From onboarding and renewals to member only events, communications and community engagement, they will be the person our members come to know. 

This role sits at the heart of the organisation rather than within a single team. They will work closely with colleagues across science, communications, income generation and operations. This role will work closely with the charities CRM and Office Manager who oversees the administration of memberships, our customer relationship management (CRM) software and data. They will also play an important role in gathering member insight and feeding it back into the ongoing development of our membership proposition. 

This is a highly autonomous and collaborative role. Reporting to the Head of Income Generation and working with colleagues across the organisation, you will translate membership strategy into action, taking ownership of implementation, continuous improvement, member engagement and retention. 

Our charities are small, and our work is often fast paced; as such we are looking for candidates who can work with limited supervision day-to-day and can work on multiple concurrent workstreams. 

Key Responsibilities 

Membership 

• Implement and promote the new SciFAW membership offering to current, lapsed and prospective members, helping to grow and strengthen the membership community. 
• Develop the member, supporter and student membership journeys, ensuring a positive and seamless experience at every stage. 
• Manage the membership application approval process, including documenting Trustee decisions and administering confirmations and welcome communications. 
• Liaise with colleagues responsible for the membership operations and data to ensure the charities retain accurate records and use effective processes. 
• Administer and analyse the post-join questionnaire and use its insights on members' interests, affiliations and areas of work to inform future engagement, events and activities. 
• Lead a retention-focused approach across all membership, community, communications and event activities, ensuring members consistently experience value, connection and engagement throughout their relationship with SciFAW, while acting as their primary point of contact. 
• Analyse data and report on member acquisition, retention, trends and engagement. 
• Working with scientific staff, input into the development of the LINKS scheme, supporting its growth and strengthening its role as a membership activity. 

Events 

• Work with scientific colleagues to develop the charities’ programme of member-exclusive events. 
• Organise a programme of member-exclusive events throughout the year, aligned with plans agreed with the Head of Income Generation. 
• Co-ordinate the programme of member-only events alongside our annual conference, working with science staff and conference organisers to design, plan and deliver them. 
• Work with the wider team and external collaborators to develop events and engagement opportunities for students and early-career researchers, including careers-focused content at the annual conference. 
• Contribute to event planning to ensure events are engaging and responsive to member interests and feedback. 
• Work with administrative support colleagues to organise and deliver events, allowing you to focus on member engagement. 
• Provide occasional administrative support for corporate membership and sponsorship activities as required. 

Community and Communications 

• Act as the primary point of contact for members, providing a welcoming, responsive and professional experience. 
• Build strong relationships with members, ensuring they feel valued, connected and engaged with charities missions. 
• Craft the communications to members at each stage of their membership journey to optimise engagement and retention. 
• Produce a quarterly membership newsletter that showcases member stories, highlights opportunities and strengthens community connections. 
• Work with the Communications team to develop engaging membership marketing and retention materials across all SciFAW membership routes and for HSA individual members. 
• Collaborate with scientific staff to deliver member-only roundtables. 
• Collaborate with scientific staff to increase opportunities for members to engage effectively with the charity's grants, awards and scientific activities. 

Essential skills and experience required

• Experience coordinating a membership function, with hands-on delivery of member engagement, recruitment and retention activities and community building. 
• Proven ability to work independently and within scope, managing priorities and collaborating confidently with senior colleagues, scientists and external stakeholders. 
• Experience planning and delivering both online and in-person events. 
• Experience using CRM or membership databases for record management, reporting and analysis (both charities use Beacon CRM). 
• Excellent written communication skills, with experience producing audience-focused content such as newsletters, event communications and membership materials. 
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. 
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and priorities simultaneously. 
• Reliable and accurate in reporting progress, with a clear view of what's completed, what's outstanding and what's at risk 
• Strong presentation skills, confidence in communicating and presenting to external stakeholders and groups, including being comfortable making phone calls where necessary

Project Overview 

Anchor & Bloom is a community-based programme delivered by ARCC to support women from Asian and minoritised communities who have experienced domestic abuse and related trauma. The project recognises that many women face barriers to accessing mainstream services due to stigma, language, cultural expectations and fear of judgement. Anchor & Bloom creates safe, culturally sensitive spaces where women can access support, rebuild confidence and begin their recovery.

The programme combines trauma-informed counselling, creative therapy groups and practical recovery workshops with community outreach and early identification of domestic abuse. Alongside direct support for survivors, the project works to reduce isolation and stigma by opening up conversations within the community and strengthening safe pathways into specialist services.

To deliver this work effectively, ARCC is recruiting two Project Coordinators to lead the Mental Health and Domestic Abuse (DASV) strands of the programme and two community champions. These roles will work closely together to ensure women receive safe, coordinated and culturally competent support throughout their journey.

Role Purpose

To coordinate and lead the mental health and recovery elements of the Anchor and Bloom Project, including trauma-informed counselling, creative therapy groups and structured wellbeing workshops. The postholder will ensure women accessing the programme receive safe, culturally sensitive and recovery-focused support, working alongside the DASV Coordinator where safeguarding or risk issues arise.

Key Responsibilities

• Programme Delivery & Coordination

• Coordinate delivery of counselling provision (CBT, EMDR and online sessions).

• Oversee creative therapy sessions including art, music and storytelling).

• Plan and coordinate structured recovery workshops focused on confidence, boundaries, healthy relationships and wellbeing.

• Manage participant intake, initial assessments and allocation into appropriate recovery pathways.

• Ensure sessions are scheduled effectively and delivered in safe, welcoming environments.

Operational Oversight

• Provide day-to-day operational management of sessional counsellors and creative facilitators.

• Work collaboratively with the appointed external Clinical Supervisor, who provides formal therapeutic supervision to counsellors.

• Monitor attendance, engagement and wellbeing outcomes.

• Maintain accurate records in line with confidentiality and GDPR requirements.

Safeguarding & Integrated Support

• Identify safeguarding concerns and share appropriately with the DASV Coordinator.

• Contribute to risk discussions and coordinated case planning where needed.

• Ensure trauma-informed practice is embedded across recovery activities.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

• Maintain monitoring systems and track agreed project outcomes.

• Contribute to reporting for funders and stakeholders.

• Support budget monitoring related to mental health delivery.

• Meet regularly with the DASV Coordinator to align delivery and ensure integrated support.

• To undertake any other tasks that are commensurate with  the  post  and  which reflect the needs of the organisation.

Person Specification

Essential

• Experience coordinating mental health, counselling or wellbeing programmes.

• Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice.

• Experience working with survivors of domestic abuse or complex trauma.

• Experience working with culturally diverse or minoritised communities.

• Knowledge of safeguarding procedures.

• Strong organisational and communication skills.

Desirable

• Relevant qualification in counselling, psychology, social care or related fields.

Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to serve as Coordinator, leading the mission of Street Pastors in Kingston. The ideal candidate for this role will be a person of integrity who is able to demonstrate experience and potential in leadership of Christian outreach and mission. They should have experience leading and managing volunteers in a relevant context. They should possess effective organisational and communication skills and demonstrate a passion for building and sustaining partnerships around community outreach.

Context

Kingston Street Pastors is a churches initiative which has been operating since 2006 deploying Christian volunteers in the town centre in the night time to Care, Listen and Help. We enjoy excellent relationships with key stakeholders in Kingston’s night time economy including our local council, police and businesses. Within the wider Street Pastors movement we have made significant contributions over the years to develop policy and practice and have worked closely with neighbouring Street Pastors initiatives and with the Ascension Trust. For governance purposes Kingston Street Pastors operates as an affiliated project of Oxygen, a Kingston based youth work charity.

Our key strategic priorities are to maintain and build on the positive relationships we have with our local council, the police and businesses in the night time economy, taking advantage of opportunities for collaboration, accessing funding and other forms of support. We are perennially focused on the recruitment of new volunteers to serve as Street Pastors and Prayer Pastors to sustain and grow our capacity to deploy teams to the streets.

About the Role

This role has a Genuine Occupational Requirement for the post holder to be a practicing Christian (as outlined by 2010 Equality Act, Section 9)

Our new Coordinator will work closely with the Street Pastors Deputy Coordinator, leading the regular operations of Kingston Street Pastors and the deployment of teams while also overseeing the strategic development of the initiative in response to emerging needs and opportunities. 

Applicants should have people skills and demonstrate an ability to solve problems using a range of creative solutions including working with volunteers or using technology in new ways. The ideal candidate will have an ability to work flexibly and manage their time and resource effectively amidst competing priorities. 

A strong applicant will also be able to demonstrate the following: 

• A good understanding of the work and ethos of Street Pastors and how this resonates with your approach to Christian mission.

• A passion for the role the Church plays in our local community and an ecumenical ethos which is appreciative of a diversity of Christian traditions.

• The ability to partner with key stakeholders in the community to increase the resources, reach and depth of charitable projects. 

• A high level of proficiency in project management with competent administrative and IT skills.

• A good understanding of the night time economy, its users and key stakeholders.

• Experience and skills in charity/ church project leadership with specific reference to the recruitment, development and management of volunteers.

• An understanding of monitoring and reporting on the impact of charitable work.

Relevant experience in fields such as youth work, homelessness support, drug and alcohol services and promotion of community safety are also highly desirable.

This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references including at least one reference from a church minister.

Volunteer recruitment:

About the Role

Key duties include:

• Coordinate and host weekly staff devotions.
• Coordinate and support Small Group Leaders and Prayer Ministry Team.
• Oversee the running of regular prayer meetings, such as Be Still Key Relationships: building relationships with external speakers, venues and suppliers.
• Create content and lead at key events, i.e. day of prayer and weekly devotions Prayers, and organise ad-hoc opportunities for prayer as and when new situations arise.

Salary: £17,046.54 per annum (This is equivalent to a full-time effective salary of £28,410.90). We are an accredited member of the Living Wage Foundation.

Location: Unseen’s head office in Bristol with ad hoc UK travel (Hybrid approach with some working from home days. A degree of flexibility will be required). Please note this role requires the postholder to attend the Bristol office at least once a week.
