Came to Believe Recovery UK (CTBR UK) is a not-for-profit organisation helping people break free from addiction through immersive residential retreats and online support. We’re looking for new trustees to join our team and help us build our organisation and reach.

CTBR UK runs non-clinical retreats and meetings for people recovering from all forms of addiction. Our programme is built around the 12 Steps and spiritual principles, delivered in a supportive, welcoming and down-to-earth way, where all are welcome regardless of beliefs or faith.

We’ve supported hundreds of people on their journey toward  freedom — and we’re just getting started.

We’re currently preparing to register as a  charity, with big plans to:

Who We’re Looking For

You don’t need to have been a trustee before – although prior experience is welcome. We're especially interested in people with skills in any of the following areas:

• Business, operations or charity leadership
• Finance or bookkeeping
• Fundraising, bid writing or donor development
• Legal expertise (especially charity or contract law)
• HR or volunteer coordination

If you're organised, thoughtful, and comfortable working as part of a small remote team, you'll fit right in. We're also keen to hear from people who have worked in community support, health and wellbeing, or have experience working with vulnerable adults in third-sector projects.

What You’ll Do as a Trustee

As a trustee, you’ll help guide the direction of CTBR UK as we continue to grow. You’ll:

• Help shape our future plans, activities and strategy
• Offer support and oversight to ensure we stay on track and legally compliant
• Use your skills and voice to improve what we do
• Work alongside our small, motivated, and friendly team

We meet a minimum of quarterly online and keep in touch where appropriate between meetings. There’s no fundraising requirement or large time commitment.

We have a collection of books in our unique library, much of it donated by members of the community.

We are looking for a responsible person with the knowledge, skills and experience to repair/restore some old/damaged books, including reattach pages (Hard and soft cover books)

We’re passionate about what we do, and love giving second-hand clothing a chance of going to a good home. Our shop teams are key to raising vital funds for our work and act as incredible advocates for the rights of children both in the UK and around the world.

Please note that this is a voluntary, unpaid role, based in the UK. We are unfortunately not able to provide support with visa requests. 

Volunteering in the shop

Our gorgeous shop in historic Windsor has been at the heart of the community since the early 1990’s (it’s truly vintage!) and has in recent years been transformed into a bespoke Mary’s Living & Giving store. 

Our Windsor Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

We know that our shop teams are stronger when they are inclusive and representative of their communities. Everybody can make a real difference. People come to us for all sorts of reasons, from all backgrounds, and we will do what we can to find a role that works for you.

What happens next?

After you’ve filled in an application, we will invite you for an informal trial shift. It’s a great opportunity to visit the shop, meet some of our existing volunteers and have a go at some of the tasks that you would be supporting with as a shop volunteer. Hopefully allowing you to get a feel for the role and make sure it’s for you. We also ask for a couple of references (these don’t have to be formal workplace ones, just someone who has known you for over 6 months and isn’t related).

Re-Vision is a small charity based in Queen’s Park, London, founded in 1988. We run professionally accredited part-time courses for adults to train as Counsellors and Psychotherapists and are looking for Trustees to join our Board.

Who we are

Re-Vision is a registered charity. It is a small, not for profit counselling and psychotherapy training organisation providing outstanding, in-depth training with a soulful perspective. We also offer a low cost community counselling service to enable access to mental health services for those who might otherwise not find this affordable.

The role

We are juggling a number of important strategic imperatives. We have highlighted the need to improve resilience, to look ahead at future plans for our physical environment, to continue to provide an inclusive and rewarding experience for our students, trainers and staff, to maintain and build on the unique soulfulness and richness of our training, and to build our bursary fund to help to increase accessibility to our training.

We are keen to find trustees willing to help us with these challenges. We are particularly keen to involve people with financial or marketing skills, and people who have been involved in facilitating or helping small organisations faced with the challenge of retaining core values during periods of change. This is an exciting period of change for Re-Vision and could be a good time for those with experience in strategic planning or change management to get involved, even if only for a fixed term.

We are currently looking to recruit Trustees with experience in:

• Finance and financial strategies – able to contribute to scrutiny of financial information, understand accounts and budgets.

• Facilities and property management
• Strategic planning or change management experience would be desirable

Who are we looking for?

At present we are working to secure funding that will see us through our first year, and the role will be an important part of the organisation's growth and ability to obtain funding for the operational activities and start up for the organisation. We are currently working with a third-party funding strategy specialist and the Funding Co-ordinator will oversee this launch as well as look into other funding options that may be available pre-start up and in the following months.

As an organisation, Living Reasons believe that your individual skills are more important than experience. With this in mind, this role would suit someone who enjoys helping others, finding solutions in novel ways and can look at creative ways of generating income for a new style of organisation, as well as find ways for free or discounted support. The person who is starting the charity up is autistic, has ADHD, CPTSD and also multiple physical conditions that effect daily life and is part of the LGBTQ+ community and has faced a lot of issues in life because of these things.

Living Reasons is being created to fix what we think is a challenging situation that is getting harder to achieve every week, month and year in the current economic, political, environmental and societal landscape. It is not easily defined but we hope the charity objects below will help put context to what we want to achieve, what we can say is that below are the issues we are trying to address, how we do this will change as quickly as society does, but the issues we want to tackle are these:

IAPWA (International Aid for the Protection & Welfare of Animals) is a UK-registered animal welfare charity dedicated to creating a better future for animals in need.

IAPWA are currently seeking an Events Co-ordinator to join their UK team to help them develop their range of adrenalin pursuits within their Adventures for Animals fundraising initiative. From identifying ways to find animal lovers to take part in our 2025 skydiving challenge to creating new, exciting events for our adventure community to engage with, you will be part of a charity who are passionate about making a difference to the lives of animals in need.

With an ageing population, more and more older people are at risk of isolation and loneliness as partners and friends pass away, children and grandchildren move away and the community around them changes at a fast pace.  As a Befriender you will become part of the solution to tackling the issues of isolation and loneliness by developing strong relationships with clients and encouraging them to engage in a variety of ways.

Main activities/tasks:

• Visit an older person in their home once a week for up to 2h
• Spend time getting to know them and to understand what things they may like to do at home (e.g. chess, knitting, reading)
• Offer healthy and fun conversation and encourage them to talk
• Give support to enable them to get out in the community and encourage participation in activities.
• Promote healthy living and wellbeing.
• Accompany on hospital visits or to the GP. Go for a walk, or shopping
• Support older person to find information as requested.
• Make monthly reports on visits carried out

Home-Start WKCHF is looking for volunteers to support parents and children who are facing challenges such as isolation, mental health struggles, or financial difficulties.

About the Role

As a Home-Start volunteer, you will provide emotional and practical support to families with young children in their own homes. Your role may involve:                                                                                                                                                     

• Offering friendship, a listening ear and encouragement
• Helping parents build confidence in their parenting skills
• Providing practical support such as accompanying families to appointments, family hubs or groups

Join our team and inspire others to exercise through a weekly walk. You will create an opportunity for people to support each other, provide that additional boost to exercise and go for a walk even when they may not be feeling the motivation.

We work with people who need support with their mental health across London and the South East. Our support ranges from registered accommodation services for people with severe mental health conditions to drop-in community and crisis services.

In the last year, 9,499 adults accessed Hestia’s mental health support.

We help people to feel safe, develop hope for a better future, and achieve their personal goals. These goals may include rebuilding relationships with family members and friends or connecting more with their local community.

What you will be doing

• Coordinate and facilitate weekly walks in local parks to the service alongside other volunteers
• Meet with the walking group weekly
• Hold conversations with people attending the group, checking in on their wellbeing and providing a listening ear/friendly face
• Keep a record of attendees, provide feedback, and report any concerns to the staff team
• Ability to provide a supportive, and inclusive atmosphere that encourages participation

The skills you need

• Inspire and motivate people to attend the walking group
• Ability to identify, manage any possible risks that may arise during the walking group. Training will be provided
• Willing and able to go on a weekly walk lasting approximately 60-90 minutes

KIPAWA DREAMS INITIATIVES

Kipawa Dreams Initiatives (K-DI) is a women-led Organization. Our mission is to empower youth, especially girls and women, by equipping them with the knowledge and opportunities to foster sustainable communities through extensive education, health, and technology-related initiatives. At K-DI, we prioritize tackling significant challenges in education and health, particularly for marginalized youth. We focus specifically on women and children aged 10 - 25. Our strategy is built on collaborating with local stakeholders, governments, and development partners, which allows us to create community-driven solutions and enhance capacity within our communities.

KIPAWA Dreams addresses the intertwined social and environmental challenges facing youth in rural Tanzania, including poor mental health awareness, cultural stigma, gender inequality, and lack of supportive spaces. Many young people struggle in silence with trauma, anxiety, or abuse, worsened by poverty and harmful norms. Girls are especially vulnerable due to early marriage, menstrual stigma, and limited educational access. Through peer-led clubs, community dialogues, and youth mental health training, KIPAWA Dreams fosters safe and inclusive environments that promote resilience, emotional expression, and support. The organization empowers young people to heal, lead, and drive change within their schools, families, and communities.

KIPAWA Dreams tackles mental health stigma, gender inequality, and youth marginalization through culturally rooted, community-driven solutions. It trains teachers, health workers, and youth leaders in Mental Health issues, builds school-based peer support clubs, and facilitates intergenerational dialogues to break harmful silences. By integrating arts, sports, and storytelling, the startup creates safe spaces for youth expression and healing.
