What your role will involve
There are a variety of tasks that you can get involved with in the shop, including:

Our volunteers work closely with veterans in custody support officers, attending veteran forums, and offering one to one support, including making applications for financial assistance. We also connect clients with organisations, to help support pathways for positive change.

What you will be doing
- Attend group forums for veterans within the prison environment.
- Complete individual assessments and complete one to one personalised support for veterans within the prison environment, which includes casework.
- Promote the services available to family members.
- Establish an agreement around the rate of visits with the VCJS team and the prison.
- Record the support offered to veterans accordingly and appropriately.
- Complete monitoring reports.
The skills you need
- Be over 21.
- Have a good level of fitness to able to move around a prison quickly - including stairs.
- Excellent listening skills.
- Awareness of boundaries and confidentiality.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of people, including prison staff, other agencies, SSAFA colleagues and clients.
- Positive, committed and non-judgemental. Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude.
- Good IT skills.
- An enhanced DBS check is required for this role. Individual prisons will determine if they authorise individuals to be based in their facilities based on security considerations. Security Vetting by His Majesty’s Prison Service is often required. For further discussion, please get in touch.
- You will need to declare potential conflicts of interest, for example any family connection with the prison.

Are you a dog lover with room in your home to look after a dog during evenings and weekends? This could be the perfect role for you!
As a Training Dog Fosterer, you’ll provide a loving temporary home to a dog in training, typically for a period of 12 to 20 weeks, as they begin their journey to become a guide dog. You’ll get to see the progress your furry companion is making in their training and be a vital part of their journey, without the commitment of looking after a dog full time.
What you’ll be doing:
In this rewarding role, your support for a guide dog in training will include:
- Doing the school run for your dog in training! This will typically involve dropping them off and picking them up at an agreed time Monday to Friday at one of our regional centres or community teams, however, some sites may vary. There are some locations where we will be able to collect and return the training dog from your home.
- Caring for your dog in your home such as feeding, grooming, free running and playing, following the advice of our expert staff.
- Helping your dog keep up with their training by reinforcing the techniques at home from our first-class training programme.
- Making sure your dog is not left alone for more than four hours in a 24-hour period. If you’re planning on going on holiday, let us know at your initial phone call so we can plan alternative cover for your future life changer.
Can I foster a dog?
If you’re hoping to foster a guide dog in training, here’s what we ideally look for:
- Being close to one of our regional centres or community teams so that your dog can get to their training.
- The agreement of your landlord to have a dog in your home if you rent your home.
- A safe and secure area outside for the dog to go to the toilet.
However, we try to be flexible – for example, you’ll still be able to foster a dog if you live in London, even if you don’t have access to outside space.

Volunteering for Guide Dogs should never leave you out of pocket. We’ll make sure we pay any pre-agreed expenses related to volunteering with us, including veterinary costs, dog food costs and other materials needed for your dog’s training.
Minimum age for volunteer is 18.
We also have a respite fosterer role available in some areas, where a dog would stay with you full time before moving on to the next stage of its journey.

Our Data and Technology Trustee will contribute strategic advice on how MWC manage their technology and data to be compliant, minimise risks to the organisation and to keep up to date with, and take advantage of, developments in a way that recognises the budget and the scale of the organisation. Working closely with the Choir Support Team, they will support the long-term sustainability of the charity by providing strategic direction for their data and technology assets and initiatives. Kipawa Dreams Initiatives (K-DI) is a women-led Organization. KIPAWA Dreams addresses the intertwined social and environmental challenges facing youth in rural Tanzania, including poor mental health awareness, cultural stigma, gender inequality, and lack of supportive spaces. Many young people struggle in silence with trauma, anxiety, or abuse, worsened by poverty and harmful norms. Key Responsibilities:
- Create and schedule engaging posts on platforms like Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook.

Shannon Trust fulfils an unmet need around adult learning, supporting people who’ve fallen through the cracks in formal education.
We know a lot of people have had negative learning experiences in the past, so our programme is designed to be different, with no exams and no classrooms. Our unique, evidence-based Turning Pages reading manuals are used by thousands of learners in prisons and the community to improve reading skills.
Area administrators are an invaluable part of our team. They provide administrative support to our area coordinators and teams, organising and taking notes in area meetings. They're also an important link in how we evidence the impact of Shannon Trust, prompting and following-up data and monthly reports from our prison volunteers.
We are looking for a volunteer who is organised and good IT and admin skills. You will provide support to your area coordinator in supporting both prisons and volunteers. You will be providing communication links between everyone through organising meetings and sending email updates. Your role will help us to access the vital information which shows our impact on our learners.
Much of the role can take place on any day of the week and in the evenings but you will need to be able to attend a daytime area meeting 4 times a year, attend our induction workshops and national area administrators meetings.

We are seeking a strategic and persuasive Campaigner to join our advocacy team at The IWI: International Women’s Initiative. In this critical position, you will leverage your extensive political acumen and strategic insight to influence legislation and policy on behalf of The IWI. The Campaigner will play a critical part in shaping public policy and advocacy initiatives that align with our mission and objectives. They will serve as a key liaison between our organisation and governmental entities, ensuring that our interests are effectively represented and advanced. Ideal candidates for this role possess a keen understanding of advocacy, the legislative process, excellent communication skills, and an unwavering commitment to the human rights of women. RESPONSIBILITIES
o Establish and maintain relationships with elected officials, policymakers, community leaders, coalitions, advocacy groups and other stakeholders to promote The IWI's objectives;
o Monitor and report on legislative developments and emerging issues that may impact The IWI;
o Collaborate with internal teams to align lobbying efforts with broader organisational goals and messaging;
o Draft and advocate policy proposals, position papers, policy briefs, reports, and testimony to articulate our stance on key issues, while representing The IWI in public forums;
o Prepare reports and recommendations for senior staff;
o Draft and disseminate press releases, position papers, and other communication materials to promote The IWI advocacy initiatives;
o Utilise social media platforms to enhance public engagement and support for The IWI lobbying efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
o 5+ years of experience in change behaviour, lobbying, public policy and government relations, with a proven track record of successful advocacy and campaigns efforts.
o Deep understanding of the legislative process and the political landscape (in the USA, Europe specifically), particularly as it relates to CEDAW;
o Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to articulate complex policy issues clearly and persuasively;
o Experience in developing and maintaining strategic relationships with key stakeholders, including lawmakers, industry groups, and grassroots organisations;
o Strong network of contacts within the legislative and regulatory community; media and related NGOs.
o Able to work independently with minimal supervision;
o Ability to manage people and multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred:
o Advanced degree in public policy, political science, law, or a related field;
o Experience in women’s human rights relevant to The IWI's mission;
o Proven ability to navigate complex political environments and build consensus among diverse groups;
o Membership in relevant professional organisations or certifications in lobbying or advocacy is a plus.
TECHNICAL SKILLS AND RELEVANT TECHNOLOGIES
o Proficiency in using advocacy management software and tools for tracking legislation and stakeholder engagement;
o Strong analytical skills to assess the impact of proposed legislation on organisational objectives;
o Familiarity with social media and digital advocacy platforms to enhance outreach efforts.
