MHA is the largest charity care provider for older people in the UK. Our mission is to inspire the best care and wellbeing at every stage of later life. At Lawnfield House Care Home we provide residential dementia care for 41 residents
As a Volunteer Gardener, you’ll help us make the most of the outdoor space at our home for the enjoyment of our residents. You’ll help with small gardening tasks that may vary each week and depending on the season. You’ll also have opportunities to support residents to access the garden and enjoy light gardening tasks such as potting plants.
Main tasks and responsibilities:

You must:
- Comply with health and safety legislation and be familiar with and to adhere MHA’s Health and Safety Policies. This includes being aware of manual handling hazards and following manual handling and other risk assessments.
- Liaise with the person who supports you before undertaking tasks that haven’t been agreed in advance.
- Inform your named contact if there are any changes in your circumstances that affect your ability to continue with volunteering.

Skills and qualities needed:

Times and Commitment:
- Days and times are flexible between Monday-Friday- 8am-6pm. Minimum of two hours a week.
- We ask you to be able to commit on a regular basis for a minimum of six months

About the role
Reporting directly to Pro Bono Economics’ Finance & HR Manager you will be offering much valued support to PBE’s Operations team with the day-to-day finance and operations processes. This is a varied and exciting role requiring a strong finance and office background, excellent organisation skills, a keen eye for detail and a great level of accuracy. Main Duties & Responsibilities
Finance

- To assist the with general finance administration duties and managing the finance inbox
Operations & IT
- To support the Finance & HR Manager with recruitment
- To assist with maintaining office stationery and supplies
- To assist with reporting maintenance and repairs.
- To assist with reporting/logging IT issues with the external IT support team.
- Any other duties as deemed reasonable by the line manager.
About you
We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate with a strong finance and office background with a passion for the social sector and able to commit a minimum of 10 hours a week.
Ideal characteristics include:
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people
- A keen eye for detail and a great level of accuracy
- Good working knowledge of Excel
- Experience of using an accounting package preferably Xero
- Excellent organisational skills
- Good interpersonal skills

Every bunny needs some bunny sometimes! Can you help foster our rabbits whilst we are looking for their forever home?
The Cheshire Altrincham Branch covers a large area of Cheshire and we work closely with the Inspectors to provide direct animal welfare services in our area. The main activity of our branch is to rehome cats, dogs and other animals. We rely on fosterers to look after and care for our animals until we can find them their forever homes.
You will be joining our lovely team of friendly rabbit fosterers and receive support from your branch manager and other fosterers in the team.
Often when we think about animal fostering, cats and dogs spring to mind, but have you ever thought about fostering rabbits? The RSPCA received more than 5,000 reports last year about rabbits relating to neglect or abandonment and rescued an average of 340 small furries a month! To help us with the rehoming of these rabbits, we are actively looking to add to our fantastic team of volunteer fosterers.
As a rabbit fosterer, you would play an essential role in providing the rabbits in our care with a temporary home whilst they are being rehomed. Like us, even small furries have specific needs and requirements, but rest assured, once we have guided you through the fostering process the animal centre will ensure that you have all the necessary guidance, equipment, food, and veterinary care.
When our rabbits are in your foster care, you will:
- Provide them with care, safe suitable housing, and space for playtime, as outlined in our policies and guidelines.
- Ensure that they are groomed if appropriate, and fed and watered (they eat a bundle of hay as big as they are every day!)
- Provide them with suitable and clean bedding to keep them cosy.
- Give them lots of attention and plenty of cuddles as rabbits are very sociable animals.
- The RSPCA is happy to reimburse you for any pre-agreed expenses incurred through volunteering for us.
What we are looking for in a volunteer Rabbit Fosterer
- Volunteers aged 18 or over who have had plenty of experience of caring for animals.
- Fostering experience is beneficial but not essential as training is provided.
- For their wellbeing, our rabbits may need to be fostered in pairs, so please bear this in mind.
- Any existing pets or animals need to have been spayed/neutered (some medical reasons may mean they can’t be so, please let us know if this is the case).

This means that more people seeking support will be contacted, leaving less people facing their challenges alone. There will be a focus on supporting people most underserved by mainstream mental health services, including BAPOC & LGBTQ+ people.

We know from experience that complementary therapies can help calm emotions, relieve anxiety and increase the general sense of health and wellbeing. We would be asking you to offer the therapy once a week or fortnight depending on your availability.
We recognise this is you offering your time and expertise which we would be very grateful of but we also know many of our volunteers enjoy giving their time to patients and carers at this time of need.
