The Director of Public Affairs will work with the CEO and Senior Management Team to raise our profile and influence policy, unlock and steward resource and build new partnerships, in order to facilitate growth in impact. They will do this by getting the most out of our high performing Public Affairs team, which covers policy, research, advocacy and communications - as well as working across teams and with the Board to ensure Impetus is well positioned externally.

Key responsibilities

Fundraising and income generation

• Work with Impetus CEO and SMT to support the delivery of the Impetus strategy and business plan and deliver the public affairs milestones to time and within budget.
• Champion and contribute to embedding equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) across all areas of Impetus' work, ensuring that EDI principles related to Impetus’ mission are reflected in advocacy, stakeholder engagement, communications and public positioning.
• Vision setting and strong line management of the Public Affairs team, developing their capabilities, representing the team at SMT and to the Board and ensuring it continues to make a valuable - and valued - contribution to the achievement of Impetus’s objectives, through building and implementing high quality work plans for the team and ensuring the wider Impetus team is aligned on these.
• Increase awareness, understanding and trust in Impetus among key stakeholders, through regular, thoughtful engagement with the sector and securing high profile media coverage.
• Raise awareness of the education and employment gaps faced by young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and what we can do to break down the barriers they face - through research, policy positioning and effective communications.
• Build a positive reputation for Impetus in government and parliament and among funders, as a source of expertise on how to improve the education and employment outcomes of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and as a trusted interlocutor and partner, building on and leveraging the many relationships already established.
• Ensure that all advocacy is supported by high quality research and evidence, with our policy and research agenda well aligned to supporting the delivery of Impetus’ strategy.
• Ensure a positive media profile, continuing to build on the base established to build awareness among the media of Impetus’s expertise and content.
• Position Impetus as a ‘sought-after’ collaborative partner for other organisations with shared objectives; including regularly representing Impetus at relevant sector events.
• Support the delivery of our fundraising strategy and the successful delivery of our events programme, in particular, our flagship Transforming Lives Dinner.
• Where appropriate, collaborate with our portfolio partners to support their public affairs work and to leverage relevant partnerships, drawing on their insights to inform Impetus’ work.
• Contribute to the successful performance of the Senior Management Team, and provide expert advice to them, as well as to Trustees, on all public affairs-related activities and in the implementation of the broader strategy, engaging with decisions and challenges across the organisation.
• Oversee the running of our Public Affairs Committee (PAC), leveraging their skills, expertise and influence for the good of Impetus.

PR and Communucations Manager

We’re looking for a dynamic and imaginative communications professional to help raise the profile of Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, drive engagement and expand our reach and influence. You’ll share the extraordinary impact of our Roald Dahl Nurses, capturing and telling powerful stories of seriously ill children and their families in ways that inspire, engage, and drive action.

From securing local and national media coverage to building authentic relationships with celebrity supporters, you’ll use your creativity and energy to keep our profile high and our mission front and centre.

The PR and Communications Manager will explore innovative methods to promote the brand and its activities to the right audiences through targeted campaigns, significantly contributing to the fundraising efforts of the organisation. You will be working as part of a collaborative and supportive Fundraising and Communications Team, working closely with the Brand and Marketing Manager and Director of Fundraising and Communications.

Responsibilities to Include:

PR & Media

· Enhance the charity’s profile among targeted audiences through strategic PR activities and diverse media channels, both B2C and B2B.

· Proactively cultivate, build and maintain relationships with media partners at local, regional, and national levels in both trade and consumer media, including print, online, and broadcast platforms, as well as with individual journalists.

· Write compelling and clear press releases, blogs, articles, and statements to effectively communicate our messages.

· Respond promptly to press enquiries for comments, views, and supporting information, and maximise opportunities for further engagement on relevant topics.

· Support the fundraising team by highlighting partner stories, managing PR efforts, and supporting events.

· Lead the pursuit of media-related funding opportunities, such as The Times and Sunday Times Christmas Appeal and corporate opportunities like BGC and ICAP days.

· Manage nominations for relevant awards to gain recognition and support for the charity.

· Pursue and implement strategic media partnerships to enhance visibility and outreach.

· Work with the Chief Executive to liaise with Her Majesty, The Queen’s press office when applicable, particularly on key events

Content Creation & Storytelling

· Gather and write compelling stories to share our impact with funders, supporters and media through interviews our families, ensuring brand compliance and accessibility.

· Ensure consent is obtained and materials are stored securely in line with GDPR and privacy policy.

Celebrity and Talent Management

· Strategically manage our ambassador programme, keeping our mission prominent and visible, including securing new patrons and ambassadors

· Create memorable moments and engaging content with famous supporters that resonate with audiences.

· Ensure our values and vision are highlighted in every celebrity collaboration.

Communications

· Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive Communications plan that aligns with our mission and goals and marketing and brand work, maximising the impact of planned activities

· Ensure our story is told in the most compelling way by collaborating with our Programmes team, Roald Dahl Nurses, and their patients and families to create evidence-based, impactful case stories, imagery, videos, and films.

· Create and deliver both long-term and annual communications strategies, addressing local, regional, and national activities.

· Handle crisis communications professionally and efficiently, maintaining the charity’s reputation.

· Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners (including funders) to ensure consistent and effective communication across all channels.

· Track and evaluate the effectiveness of communications activities and campaigns, providing regular reports and insights to senior management.

WCCM seeks to appoint an experienced, creative, and highly motivated Grant and Major Donor Fundraising Manager to lead fundraising and grant management across a global organisation dedicated to the teaching of Christian Meditation. Working to the Executive Director, you will interact with our decentralised finance, marketing and communications staff and volunteers.  Together, you will nurture Major Donor relationships and create and manage appropriate donor stewardship schemes and rationalise our income streams. You’ll ensure grant reporting and management is kept on track whilst developing targeted proposals for new funding from sympathetic donors in the arena of Trusts and foundations.  You will work to support both our teaching and resourcing of meditation and the running of our retreat centre in Bonnevaux, near Poitiers in France. An excellent writer with excellent financial and budgeting skills, you will be adept at pulling together relevant, succinct and compelling information for our donor reports and bids. You’ll work with communications staff to develop impactful donor communications which enhance our accountability and inspire renewed major donations.  You will have a demonstrable track record in winning grants as well as in the stewardship of major donors.  Occasional trips to France. Interest in Christian Meditation/Spirituality an advantage.

We’re looking for a Science Communications Officer (Fixed term) to join our team

Salary: £35,000

Base: Central Edinburgh/hybrid

Hours: Full time and fixed term for one year.  35 hours a week over core working hours of 10am - 3pm, Monday to Friday, with a one-hour lunch break. The office is open 8am – 7pm daily and our hybrid working policy requires all full-time employees to work at least two days a week in the Edinburgh office.

We are looking for a creative, multi-skilled Science Communications Officer to champion our research and our global researchers through compelling storytelling. This involves collaborating across the charity to ensure content is accurate and audience appropriate. You’ll also be interacting with everyone in the organisation to help them understand how cancer behaves and how our research is helping to find new cures.

From presenting to colleagues to creating social media posts, you’ll be required to balance different tasks efficiently and to manage your own time effectively.

Job Purpose

BSR education programme is a key benefit to members and the wider rheumatology community, providing updates on the essentials needed to deliver top-quality care for patients and ensuring professional development opportunities.  

This role sits within the Education team who are responsible for delivering BSR’s educational activity. Working alongside the Head of Education, the Events and Education Manager, Event Executive and the Digital Events Manager, you will assist in the planning and delivery of a range of education courses, webinars, bursary schemes and digital learning activities.  You will work with the team to support the work of our Education Committee, Trainee Committee and Digital Learning Board.  

This is an exciting role for someone looking to get more hands-on experience in planning and executing a variety of educational events and activities and liaising with multiple stakeholders. It is a unique opportunity to be part of the team at the forefront of rheumatology education, making a tangible impact on the professional development of members and the broader rheumatology community. 

Main Responsibilties 

Event & Course Management 

• Lead on course and webinar registration processes, including delegate bookings, communications, data management and reporting, and producing delegate materials. 
• Support course logistics including venue sourcing and management, accommodation and travel, catering and AV. 
• Support stakeholder management at education courses, including communications with patients, sponsors and event supporters. 
• Occasional travel, including attendance and overnight stays at BSR conferences, courses and events.

Systems & Data Management 

• Oversee the team’s CRM (Microsoft Dynamics) and registration systems, ensuring data integrity, implementing system enhancements, coordinating stakeholders, and carrying out testing.  

Project Coordination 

• Coordinate the rheumatology training webinar series, including topic development, speaker management and live delivery. 
• Coordinate the education bursary programme, including promotion, application management and financial reconciliation. 
• Coordinate CPD accreditation of educational activities. 
• Support the delivery of digital sponsorship and educational partnership opportunities. 

Marketing & Communications 

• Work with the Marketing and Communications team to create digital content to engage target audiences.

General Duties 

• Manage events inbox and education team enquiries, delivering excellent customer service. 
• Input into education budgets by monitoring progress against income and expenditure for owned projects.
• Support with BSR Committee liaison and logistics. 
• Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Head of Education and the Events and Education Manager.

The Queen’s Reading Room is the charity founded by Her Majesty Queen Camilla in 2023. We believe that books make us happier, healthier and better connected, having a strong positive impact on our mental health, brain health and social connectedness. We’re on a mission to get more people reading more, for all the transformative benefits of books.

Our work is in three areas: neuroscientific study to understand the lifelong benefits of regular reading; the production of accessible content and events; and grassroots work to help shelters and refuges access books and shared reading groups, in partnership with organisations like St Mungo’s, The Elm Foundation and Reading for Wellbeing.

Our audience is predominantly digital, reaching 12 million people annually in 183 countries. We’re concerned that the UK is currently facing a reading crisis, with children’s reading rates the lowest on record and 1 in 2 adults not having read nor listened to a single book last year. We’re working hard to change that.

About the Role

The Queen’s Reading Room is funded entirely by grants, donations, sponsorship and income from events. We’re looking for a vibrant and well-connected individual to join the small but agile team, to lead this function within the charity and design and set up a fundraising committee. You will build on a strong base of income generation and work to sustain and expand it.

You will be responsible for building the fundraising strategy with the charity’s CEO and Board of Trustees; for identifying appropriate opportunities to generate funding in the UK and internationally; and for the targets agreed by the CEO and board. You will be comfortable with, and have experience in, the world of high profile and high net-worth individuals, legacy fundraising, fundraising and friendraising events. You will know how to build relationships with individual donor prospects along with charitable trusts, foundations and other institutional funders. You will attend networking events and meetings with potential donors.

Your role will include devising and creating fundraising events; securing sponsorship for events and festivals; contributing to the writing and submitting of funding applications to charitable trusts and foundations; and advising and providing suitable copy for fundraising marketing and digital materials. You will work with the team to create case studies and grant reports, sharing and telling great stories to supporters to ensure that they understand the difference that their donations make and with a view to securing repeat support.

You’ll create new relationships by preparing and delivering pitches, talks and presentations and prepare reports and give presentations on fundraising progress to the CEO and the Board of Trustees.

You will join as a key member of the organisation, alongside the CEO, Director of Operations, Director of MarComms, Head of Talent, Head of Production and Team Researcher.

About You

Our ideal candidate will have a proven track record of significant and sustained income generation. You’ll have a track record of managing and developing relationships with individual donors and be committed to building good internal and external relationships. You will have experience of performing due diligence and have a careful and considered approach to fundraising. Your knowledge of the fundraising market will be excellent. You will understand the complexity of the charity landscape and the sensitivities of the role. You will understand the need for confidentiality to be paramount.

Strong writing and presentation skills are essential.

There will be a lot going on at once, so we’ll be looking for someone who is flexible with changing priorities and who has excellent administrative, IT, organisational and planning skills. You’ll be able to prioritise your workload, manage administration and be able to work independently. You will be an excellent team player but be able to take responsibility for your own work stream.

The Digital Marketing Officer will play a key role in delivering and managing WAF’s digital content and channels. Working closely with the Managing Director and Marketing & Fundraising Consultant, the role will help to implement and grow WAF’s digital marketing strategy—creating compelling, creative, and consistent content that drives engagement, raises income, and strengthens our brand.

About the Charity

The Wildlife Aid Foundation (WAF) is an animal charity dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of British wildlife. We are passionate about protecting the future for our native species.

We run one of the UK’s busiest wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centres. We deal with over 20,000 wildlife-related incidents, each year. It’s a 24/7 job. On any given day, our rescuers will be scaling trees to rescue stranded baby owls or cutting fox cubs from garden netting. Our vets will be performing life-saving surgery, while our carers look after hundreds of patients and young babies being nursed in our rehab centre.

We rely on a small army of over 300 volunteers and run popular outreach and education programmes that help people take actions to make the world a better place for us and our animal neighbours in the natural world.

We are one of the longest-established wildlife centres in the UK and have been championing British wildlife for over 40 years.

The Role: Digital Marketing Officer

Key Responsibilities

Social Media Management

• Manage WAF’s social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, YouTube, TikTok), including scheduling daily content, posts, stories, and reels.

• Create engaging, on-brand content using a mix of video, imagery, graphics, and copy tailored to each platform.
• Work with the Marketing Consultant to implement a social media strategy and content plan, ensuring alignment with charity objectives and audience insights.

Content Creation & Storytelling

• Develop creative digital content (graphics, short-form video, infographics, blogs, ads, etc.) to inspire, educate, and motivate audiences to support WAF.
• Support the production of marketing and fundraising materials, working with colleagues to capture and edit video, imagery, and stories.
• Maintain WAF’s brand voice and visual identity across all digital platforms.
• To design and develop literature and assets for both online and offline media.
• To liaise with social media channels (such as the Dodo) and other media outlets to provide content to support these 3rd party organisations in promoting WAF.

Website Management

• Update and refresh website content, including rescue stories, blogs, species fact pages, and campaign updates.
• Support the management and promotion of WAF’s online shop, ensuring content is engaging and up to date.

Campaigns & Products

• To support the Marketing & Fundraising Consultant with the creating and delivery of the annual fundraising strategy.  Creating supporting content and identifying onsite stories that engage audiences.
• Contribute ideas for new digital campaigns, appeals, and supporter engagement opportunities.
• Liaise with potential designers in collaborating and launching new merchandise.

Person Specification

Essential:

• Proven experience managing social media channels in a professional context.
• Strong digital content creation skills (graphic design, short-form video, copywriting).
• Experience using tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or equivalent.
• Good understanding of digital analytics and reporting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a flair for storytelling.

Job Purpose

To oversee successful fundraising, with a focus on grants and individual giving, and to ensure effective communication that supports YMCA Doncaster in sustaining current work and launching new projects.

Main Responsibilities

• To create compelling long form content including website articles, information for print material, case studies, media releases and similar.
• To create and update cases for support for YMCA Doncaster’s fundable projects and general running costs.
• To be responsible for an assigned portfolio of trusts, foundations and similar, developing knowledge of, and relationships with, those funders.
• To make strong applications to funders within the assigned portfolio, matching YMCA Doncaster’s agreed cases for support with funders’ interests and requirements.
• To create, publicise and monitor outcomes of new giving campaigns and / or fundraising events. 
• To nurture key external stakeholders including potential supporters from the local business community, the media and others as appropriate.
• To prepare and give presentations, maintain ongoing contact and host trustee or representative visits where required as part of fundraising work.
• To devise efficient evaluation and monitoring systems which meet funder requirements.
• To oversee the accurate completion of returns and reports, ensuring that funders are satisfied and funding continues.
• To keep comprehensive records, in an agreed format, from initial contact with a potential funder through to either the rejection correspondence or the funding agreement and subsequent monitoring and evaluation.
• To utilise email joiner sequences, bulletins and round-ups to move people from a single connection towards being a warm and committed part of YMCA Doncaster.
• To work to a planned calendar of publicity and launches across all products and services. 
• To ensure that staff and volunteers joining YMCA Doncaster are encouraged to contribute to positive communications and fundraising efforts.
