Job Title: Community Gardening Movement Builder (England & Wales)

Overview of the Role 

In this exciting new role, you will work closely with the Community Partnerships & Networks Manager to implement the RHS’ movement building plans for community gardening – and build lasting green change.

You’ll be part of a passionate, forward-thinking team dedicated to making horticulture accessible, inclusive and transformative. Your daily work will include creating and coordinating content, campaigns, projects and events that will support, connect and amplify community gardeners across England and Wales. The role will involve frequent travel across England and Wales, and regular opportunities to meet community gardeners, partner organisations and stakeholders, both in-person and online.

As Community Gardening Movement Builder (England & Wales) you will be responsible for:

• Leading the digital and in-person convening of community gardeners across England and Wales, to increase the engagement of community gardens, support groups to develop and thrive, and build the platform of the community gardening movement.

• Mapping key stakeholders, campaigns and movement-building activity underway in sectors and spaces relevant to community gardening, keeping colleagues up to date with developments, and flagging challenges and opportunities.

• With the Community Partnerships & Networks Manager, building strong relationships with community gardening groups, partner organisations and key external stakeholders in the policy sphere – such as local authorities, mayoralties and devolved governments.

• Working closely with colleagues in the Communities team and other teams across the RHS to plan, commission and platform a wide range of digital content that will encourage, inspire and enable the community gardening movement.

• Working closely with RHS colleagues, partner organisations and community gardeners to commission, collate and promote data, research and stories that will help amplify the voices of community gardeners and build the case for policy change. 

About you

You will be able to show: 

• A passion for growing, nature, and the role that community gardening can play in bringing people together and addressing social, economic and environmental challenges. 

• A track record of experience in a movement building, policy, strategy, public affairs or external communications role (or the ability to demonstrate similar levels of knowledge if you have not worked in one of these specialisms before). 

• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present and creatively engage different audiences. 

• Adept interpersonal skills, with experience of building external relationships and collaborating with a wide range of contacts. 

• Strong digital literacy, and an interest in utilising a wide range of digital tools to connect, communicate and convene. 

• An eye for detail, with the ability to analyse, interpret and present complex data. 

• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to use your initiative to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• The ability to work as an integral member of a small, high-performing team, and to work collaboratively and with agility across the team and the wider organisation.

A degree is not essential, but a communication and fundraising skills qualification is desirable. It is important that you have a high standard of writing, and that you are on good terms with your computer, particularly MS office, email and maybe even Mailchimp, Zoom, Sage Accounting, Spreadsheets etc.

Salary: £21,500 - £24,000 pa, depending on experience (0.6 FTE of £35,828 - £40,000)

Person Specification

HR Operations & Compliance

• 3–5 years of relevant HR experience, ideally within a small or purpose-led organisation.

• Demonstrated experience managing sensitive employee relations issues.

• Strong working knowledge of UK employment law, HR policy development, and HR best practice.

About the role

The Safety & Assurance Officer (SAO) is an employee of the MSSC and a member of the MSSC National Safety Assurance Team (NSAT). This is a home-based role, with a primary focus on the Southern area, predominantly the South-East. The SAO will report to the Head of Safety, Health, and Environment.

Qualifications: Good general education and NEBOSH (or equivalent), with completion required during probation if not already held.

Incident Management: Experience managing, investigating, and reporting incidents.
Training & Support: Ability to deliver training, guidance, and support to non-specialist staff or volunteers on safety, health, environmental, and assurance matters.
Workload & Volunteer Management: Proven ability to manage a busy workload and effectively support and manage volunteers.

Responsibilities

Join the Marine Society & Sea Cadets as a Safety and Assurance Officer, ensuring the highest standards of safety, health, environment (SHE), and operational compliance across our units and facilities.
You’ll lead assurance inspections, maintain compliance with legislation and organisational regulations, and support the safe management of weapons, armouries, and inshore boating activities. Working closely with other members of the National Safety and Assurance Team (NSAT) and Area teams, you’ll oversee safety at events, camps, and competitions, conduct audits, and monitor incident reporting.
This role plays a vital part in upholding the safety and welfare of our cadets and volunteers through proactive assurance, training, and continuous improvement.

The Finance and Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the charity’s financial and operational functions. This includes managing day-to-day accounting, producing management reports, maintaining and improving processes, line-managing the administrator, and leading key projects across Finance, IT and HR. The role

As Head of Operations, you will lead all operational functions of Foxglove. You will ensure that our finance, HR, legal compliance, fundraising, systems and internal processes enable the organisation to carry out its mission effectively. You’ll work across Foxglove and closely with leadership, as well as with external partners to build a resilient and well-governed organisation, able to manage growth and complexity while staying mission driven. This role manages one member of staff and multiple consultants.

Financial Management & Accounting

1.Oversee financial operations: budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, expenditure controls, financial reporting, payroll.

About the Role

As a Supervising Social Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting foster carers to provide high-quality care. You will:

• Supervise, support, and develop foster carers to ensure the best outcomes for children.
• Undertake assessments of prospective foster carers.
• Contribute to the matching process and foster home stability.
• Work collaboratively with children, families, carers, and professionals.
• Maintain accurate and timely records in line with regulatory requirements.
• Delivering training to foster carers
   

What We're Looking For

We're seeking someone who is:

• A qualified Social Worker (DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent) registered with Social Work England.
• Experienced in fostering or children's social care.
• Skilled in building strong, supportive relationships.
• Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• Able to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends.
