ABOUT THE ROLE

We are hiring an established Deputy Manager looking to progress and utilise their own skills and experience to make meaningful change. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a cluster of services and teams. Our services support homeless adults with complex and enduring needs. We are looking for a motivated, energetic and dynamic professional who is passionate about providing exceptional support to residents and team members.

You will have overall responsibility of your service and team, aiming to deliver a high quality, trauma informed service to your residents. Your role is to ensure full contract and regulatory compliance whilst being a role model/leader for your team to achieve KPI's and other requirements as per the service needs.

Shift/Working pattern: 37.5 hours a week in service Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, you may also be required to work outside these hours as per the service requirements and needs. You will also take part in our on call service. You will be based across various services covering the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) area.

Our services provide 154 units of accommodation to people experiencing homelessness and have complex needs. The services are 24 hour supported accommodation sites.

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Line Management and Leadership

• Provide high quality support, leadership and line management to staff, offer guidance, support, and advice to the team and support them to perform to the best of their abilities.
• Provide leadership and management throughout the full employee lifecycle.
• Hold regular one to ones and team meetings to support effective teamwork and communication. Facilitate a culture where constructive challenge is welcomed.
• Proactively embed a culture of learning, development, reflection, and evaluation in a psychologically informed environment.

Service Delivery

• Support the Service Manager with the overall day-to-day operational delivery of your service, working directly with your team, colleagues, residents and participants, as well as other stakeholders to provide a high-quality, holistic service which meets the needs of our residents.
• Support the Service Manager to ensure service responsibilities and requirements are carried out effectively. This includes but is not limited to; welfare checks, risk assessments, support sessions, safeguarding checks, training and development, and other responsibilities required for effective service delivery.
• Support team to carry out their day to day duties and responsibilities, offer guidance and support as necessary. 
• Work proactively alongside the Service Manager to ensure the service and team meet and exceed Key Performance Indicators, and work in line with professional codes of conduct.
• Empower residents and participants to make decisions to take control over their lives, by creating an enabling environment.
• Be part of the operational on-call Rota for providing out-of-hours support across the operations directorate.

Risk Management

• Follow relevant risk assessment and management procedures, share relevant information with others as necessary.
• Ensure all case recording and information is accurately recorded in a timely manner, ensuring confidentiality and GDPR.
• Alongside the Service Manager, champion, and act as a point of reference for safeguarding concerns within the service(s). Ensure all staff attend relevant safeguarding and training and use knowledge to coach and advise the team.

Property and Housing Management

• Ensure the accommodation in which residents live is clean and maintained to a high standard
• Ensure all repairs and maintenance issues are correctly reported and managed through to completion.
• Ensure a provision of high quality housing management service is provided to residents. 

Financial Management

• Support the Service Manager in managing the service budget and review monthly management accounts: Set budgets and ensure resources are maximised.
• Promote effective cost control mechanisms and other financial activities.
• Maintain financial management within the service.

Other

• Some of what else is included: Contract management and Internal auditing, admin, and general other duties as required. 

Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position. Please refer to the JDPS attached for more information.

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

• Understanding and/or experience of working with people of complex backgrounds, ex-offenders, mental health, substance misuse, challenging behaviours
• Experience of working with and engaging with diverse groups of people from varying backgrounds
• IT Proficiency, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to navigate and learn new case management systems and other types of organisational software.
• Ability to promote the service and provide outreach-based provision, with an ability to liaise and work effectively in partnership with stakeholders
• Understanding of Housing Management, including voids and evictions

What we would like, but not essential:

• Previous experience in people management and development

This is an exciting opportunity for a visionary, strategic and experienced leader from the charity sector to lead our efforts to provide media, communications and digital skills training and other support for charities, secure more funding and in-kind support for our work, and develop our relationships with relevant stakeholders including other charities, infrastructure organisations like NCVO, government bodies, and trusts and foundations. 

You will bring a strong understanding of the communications challenges that charities face as well as demonstrable expertise in communications training and capacity-building for charities, innovative programme design, securing grant income and other forms of funding, and working with multiple stakeholders. 

This role would suit someone with deep knowledge and experience of the UK charity sector combined with a strong interest in the latest media and communications trends and applications.

We are looking for a thought-leader who is confident about speaking at conferences and events and using social media to raise awareness about Media Trust and our work.

Key responsibilities 

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategies and new initiatives to drive growth and innovation in the range of charity services (paid and un-paid) we currently provide, drawing on sectoral insights and taking a user-led approach as much as possible. 

• Programme Oversight & Line Management: Manage the delivery to a very high standard of all our charity capacity-building and training programmes, including being a highly effective line manager for our team of dedicated charity services programme managers. 

• Grant Writing and Income Generation: Develop funding proposals and grant applications to secure new and repeat funding support for Media Trust's charity programmes and activities and lead the development team in meeting income targets through paid for training for clients including charities and funders. 

• Partnership Development: Forge effective partnerships with relevant stakeholders including other charities, infrastructure bodies like NCVO, ACEVO and The Heritage Alliance, as well as delivery partners including Equally Ours and Climate Outreach, government bodies, and trusts and foundations. 

• Representation: Represent Media Trust at charity sector and other conferences and other events and on social media, to raise awareness about Media Trust and our work. 

What we are looking for in you 

• Senior Leadership Experience: Proven track record of senior leadership in the charity sector, ideally at an infrastructure or membership organisation, including line management experience and responsibility for managing budgets. 

• Training & Capacity Building Programme Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in designing, delivering and measuring the impact of training and other capacity-building programmes for charities and under-represented communities, ideally by strengthening their media, communications and/or digital skills. 

• Business Development: Demonstrated expertise in designing and pitching for paid for training and other services. 

• Grant Writing Experience: Strong grant writing skills with a successful history of securing funding from diverse sources including government grants, trusts and foundations, and corporates. 

• Charity Sector Knowledge: A strong understanding of the communications challenges charities are facing and what interventions are working/not working. 

• Knowledge of Media & Comms Trends and Applicability to Charities: Knowledge of the latest media and communications trends and how we can work with our industry partners to ensure charities are accessing and using emerging platforms, applications, etc. 

• Confidence in Public Speaking & Using Social Media: Experience of speaking at conferences and other public events and facilitating training for a large group. You will also be confident about using your social media profile to raise awareness about Media Trust and our work.

• Outstanding Communication Skills: Very strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively, with the ability to adapt tone and approach for different stakeholders.

Overview

Healthwatch Newham wishes to employ a Deaf Outreach Worker.  The role will work with the Deaf community on an action plan of delivery to make improvements across Newham. This is a fixed term contract of 12 months and you will work in partnership with the Newham health and social care system.

You will be a Deaf person with life experience of being Deaf and Deaf culture. You will be fluent in British Sign Language (BSL) and used to working in a bilingual environment with Deaf and hearing colleagues.

About IKWRO

IKWRO –Women’s Rights Organisation (IKWRO) is an award-winning charity founded (as the Iranian and Kurdish Women’s Rights Organisation) in 2002. IKWRO is a registered charity which provides advice and support to Middle Eastern, North African and Afghan women and girls living in the UK, who have experienced, or are at risk of all forms of “honour” based abuse, including; forced marriage, child marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM), or domestic abuse.

We work with women and girls of all ages, including lesbian women, bisexual women and trans women. We offer services in Kurdish, Farsi, Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Turkish and English. IKWRO offers free advice, advocacy and counselling services and operates a refuge which provides safe accommodation and specialist support to single women at risk of “honour” based abuse, forced marriage and domestic abuse.

IKWRO also provides training for women and girls to help them understand their rights in the UK. In partnership with other organisations, we assist survivors of abuse with accessing English language classes and education, training and employment opportunities.

As well as supporting women and girls directly, we offer advice and training for professionals from the statutory and voluntary sectors, to better understand the needs of the women and girls we represent, the types of abuse they experience and to provide best practice prevention and support services.

We campaign to increase awareness and improve laws and policies to tackle all forms of “honour” based abuse and harmful practices including; forced marriage, child marriage, marital captivity, female genital mutilation, virginity testing and hymenoplasty, discrimination by sharia courts and to push for better laws and policies to protect women’s and girl’s rights.

The post-holder will be required to work in a confidential setting and provide non directive support to improve mental health and social functioning of women who are experiencing different forms of gender based violence. The post-holder will be professionally trained, accredited and work within the BACP/BPS Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions (2018) or equivalent. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

·Provide a service in line with BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) guidelines or equivalent.

·To support the management team with the strategic development of IKWRO’s counselling services. 

·The provision of effective and high-quality Counselling and Psychotherapy services to IKWRO’s clients through making use of up to date service standards and IKWRO’s Counselling Guidelines.

·To agree a counselling contract with IKWRO’s clients and provide a timely, responsive and appropriate service.

·Carrying out a small one to one clinical caseload and/or depending on the team’s clinical capacity.

·To manage waiting lists according to the level of risk, delivery plans and organisational priorities. 

·To manage the delivery against targets and in accordance with contract requirements. 

·To lead, line manage and develop the counselling services staff as required.

·To do the clinical supervision of Associate Counsellors and trainees.

·Helping clients work towards a deeper understanding of their concerns;

·Maintain clients’ records ensuring accordance with IKWRO’s policies particularly as they relate to confidentiality and data protection.

·Making appropriate referrals and signposting to other services if needed;

·Attending clinical individual supervision, managerial supervision and training courses;

·Liaising, as necessary, with other agencies and individuals to help make changes based on the issues raised by clients;

·Liaising with IKWRO’s staff.

·Maintaining and updating accurate digital records of all cases and up to date monitoring and evaluation databases as well as writing reports.

·Experienced in delivering a variety of therapeutic interventions from different therapeutic modalities such as Trauma Focused Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Psychodynamic, Existential and Humanistic therapy. 

Waterloo Community Counselling (WCC) offers life-changing accessible and affordable counselling in the heart of London and is a small charity that has a big impact! We are one of only a handful of Low-Cost Counselling services offering weekly therapy at reduced fees, or for free. We reach adults from diverse backgrounds and our unique Multi-Ethnic Counselling Service (MECS) provides free mother-tongue counselling to migrants, refugees and asylum seekers who have survived exile, torture, human trafficking and modern slavery in 30 languages.

WCC has gone through a period of transformation and operational improvements over the past 2 years which has increased the charity’s financial and organisational resilience. We are now looking for a Finance Manager who will join a well-developed team and be responsible for embedding the progress made and identifying further areas for improvement.

About the role of Finance Manager

The Finance Manager is a core member of WCC's management team and is a key advisor and partner to the CEO on all areas of finance.  The post-holder will have responsibility for timely and efficient management of the day-to-day accounting function and all internal and external financial reporting.  Reporting directly to the CEO this role is part of a friendly, highly productive and collaborative, dedicated clinical and operational staff team of ten.

It is a varied and senior position that is part time, 3 days per week, and we are happy to discuss how the hours are worked over the week. It’s hybrid, working a minimum of one day per week in our Waterloo office. The salary is £45,000 to £48,000 pro rata, depending on experience.

The successful candidate will:

• Be a Fully Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, ICAEW etc).
• Have 5+ years PQE, preferably with charity sector/ fund accounting experience.
• Able to demonstrate working independently and as finance lead.

Operations Consultant – Commissioning and Procurement

Reports to: COO/Head of Grant Operations

Open to: Individual consultants or consulting firms with significant experience supporting organisations receiving and distributing public funding to strengthen processes and use of best practice.

Period: Start immediately, with aim to complete audit work by no later than August 2024.

Budget: YEF anticipates a budget of approximately £10,000 and typical day rates for consultants working for the charity range between £500-£650, depending on experience.

About the Youth Endowment Fund

The Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) is a charity with a £200m endowment and a mission that matters. We exist to prevent children and young people from becoming involved in violence. We do this by funding great initiatives, finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.

To make this possible, YEF funds a wide range of organisations aiming to prevent young people from becoming involved in violence. This ranges from delivery organisations providing front line services to young people who need it most, evaluators working with those organisations to understand what’s working, research organisations focused on helping us deeply understand the context and problem, organisations supporting us to put this knowledge into practice, and a variety of organisations supporting our team to execute in the most effective way possible. We have several departments commissioning this work to external organisations and a variety of different processes and mechanisms to do so.

As the volume of work we commission increases across our various departments, we’re looking for an experienced individual or team to support ensuring consistency, compliance with our policies and procedures, and training across a number of different teams on best practice.

Key activities  

· Conduct a thorough desk review on YEF policies and guidance, regarding our commissioning and grant management practices across our programmes, evaluation, research and change departments. Interview a subset of individuals to get a sense of their understanding and comfort with the policies. Produce a written report on how this is going, highlighting any areas where we could improve in consistency or best practice.

· Advise the delivery operations team on how they can best support teams to commission effectively, including helping to clarify roles and responsibilities and ongoing training or support needs for teams.

· If needed, suggest revisions to YEF policies, guidance or agreement templates to support greater efficiency, compliance or best practice.

· Conduct a series of trainings across our different departments to ensure staff responsible for commissioning understand YEF’s policies and best practices for distributing and managing the use of public funding.

· Create a set of public facing materials to help external organisations understand YEF policies and processes for applying for funding, as needed.

Deliverables

· Provide a written report on how YEF is doing adhering to its own policies, ensuring consistency in practice across different teams and adhering to best practice.

· Conduct 3-4 training workshops to different YEF teams, taking into account their own commissioning and grant management requirements.

· Conduct regular, informal advising sessions for a subset of individuals responsible for overseeing commissioning across the organisation.

· Produce a set of public facing guidance on YEF commissioning practice relevant for organisations navigating applications for funding.

· As needed, produce revisions to policy, internal guidance, or agreement templates.

Key requirements

· Must have significant experience of commissioning and procurement within an organisation of comparable size, preferably with organisations receiving and distributing public funding.  

· Experience and proven track record working to improve policies, processes and practices within an organisation.

· Experience of charitable grant-making or research work in the UK, either as a grantee, a grant-maker, or a grant evaluator or researcher.

· A strong understanding of UK government guidelines and legal terms and conditions related to grants and contracts for services. This does not mean you need a law degree, but you must be very comfortable understanding and working with a variety of different agreement mechanisms.

· The ability to understand, collate and synthesise complex sets of information and use them to make informed recommendations.

· Ability to work independently, seeking input from relevant team stakeholders throughout.

Desired experience

· Prior experience working with a What Works Centre or other evidence-focused organisation.

Robertson Bell are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Finance and Operations to join this small but mighty charity! This pivotal role will provide strategic financial leadership, overseeing financial management, IT systems, and operational efficiency to ensure the financial sustainability and growth of the organisation in alignment with its charitable objectives.

The Director of Finance and Operations will report into the CEO and manage a small team of three. The successful post holder will spend the majority of their time on finance and governance processes and matters as well as holding oversight of the outsourced IT contract acting as the main point of contact.

Duties for this role will include:

• Provide robust financial information for operational management and decision-making.
• Ensure financial sustainability and facilitate growth to further charitable aims.
• Maintain financial probity, controls, and compliance with HMRC and Charity Commission.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting to the Board of Directors and Trustees.
• Manage financial risks and appraise the viability of plans and proposals.

This position will be offered on a home working contract however attendance to key meetings will be required. These meetings will happen mostly across London and Birmingham with all  travel expenses paid for. This Director of Finance and Operations will mostly suit candidates that have previously worked in a small sized not for profit organisation.

• Be a fully qualified accountant (CCAB/CIMA/ACCA).
• Be experience managing teams.

Main Responsibilities:

•  To provide facilities management to all YMCAES sites across East Surrey. This includes 5 housing schemes and one sports and community centre all owned by the YMCAES together with six family and youth centres that the YMCA lease from local authorities. 
• u  To manage a team of three maintenance technicians (full and part  time), and facilities administration assistant and to be responsible for their training and professional development 

• u  To be the Health and Safety Officer for YMCAES to ensure that the organisation complies with all current legislation and to encourage good practice throughout the YMCAES. 

• To be responsible for ensuring all risk assessments are up to date and accurate:
•   to carry out regular building risk assessments
•  where necessary support and advise staff in completion of risk assessments
•  to ensure fire risk assessments are carried out in accordance with legislation and good practice
•  To be responsible for the maintenance of YMCA buildings and sites. Including preparation of cyclical maintenance plans and to arrange and supervise necessary major works to be scheduled and safely carried out in accordance with the project plans. 
• To be responsible for managing the online maintenance system (Pyramid) ensuring accurate recording and reporting of:
• daily reactive maintenance tasks
• planned and cyclical maintenance tasks

• To be responsible for the compilation and upkeep of the preferred provider list of contractors.
• To put in place and manage a call out system for managers to respond to any emergencies relating to buildings.
•  To be responsible for all ground maintenance including management of a ground maintenance worker and/or external contracts. 
• u  To maintain the fleet of vehicles owned by YMCAES, including insurance, tax, MOT, fuel and maintenance.
•  To support HOCS for responsibility of all insurances required by the YMCAES. Ensuring compliance with legislation and efficiencies and effectiveness of all policies. Also, to ensure that necessary inspections and certification of lifts and other equipment are carried out as per requirements of insurers and current legislation.
• To provide the CEO and Head of Housing with advice and guidance around technical and regulatory requirements on YMCA property developments and acquisitions of new buildings.

 To work with the HOCS to prepare a budget for central costs (buildings and vehicles) and to manage this budget through the year. 

To prepare and present a report to the quarterly Governance and Risk Committee which has a remit for overseeing the organisational risk management framework, incident reporting and regulatory compliance.

DESCRIPTION

Job Purpose:To manage the facilities and services that support the core functions of YMCA East Surrey (YMCAES), including maintenance across multiple sites.

• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other departments, ensuring an integrated approach, mutual learning and effective use of resources

About You:

• Experience and/or a sound understanding of account management, working closely with our internal teams and our suppliers
• Excellent time management skills. Proven ability to manage & prioritise own workload, conflicting tasks/ deadlines effectively and successfully
