We are seeking an experienced and committed Finance Manager to support the work of the church by ensuring excellent financial stewardship, strong governance, and clear financial planning.

This is a key role, working closely with the staff team, clergy, churchwardens and PCC, and offering both strategic oversight and hands-on financial management.

Purpose of the Role

The Finance Manager is responsible for the effective financial management and in large part, delivery of the church, ensuring robust systems, accurate reporting, compliance with charity and diocesan requirements, and strong financial planning. The role supports the PCC in fulfilling its legal and fiduciary responsibilities and enables staff and clergy teams to focus on the strategic priorities of the church.

This is a broad role with a large scope requiring close attention to detail in a complex organisation. There is a requirement for oversight and management as well as day to day bookkeeping delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management and Reporting

• Oversee all day-to-day financial operations of the church.
• Prepare accurate management accounts for the Head of Operations, Incumbent, Treasurer, and PCC.
• Monitor income and expenditure against budget, identifying risks and opportunities.
• Manage cash flow to ensure the parish can meet its financial commitments.
• Prepare year-end accounts and act as the main liaison with independent examiners or auditors.

Budgeting and Financial Planning

• Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with staff team colleagues, clergy and PCC.
• Support medium- and long-term financial planning aligned with wider church strategy and organisational priorities.
• Provide clear financial analysis and advice to inform decision-making.

Governance, Compliance, and Risk

• Ensure compliance with Charity Commission requirements, diocesan financial regulations, and PCC policies.
• Support the PCC in meeting its fiduciary responsibilities.
• Maintain appropriate financial controls, policies, and procedures.
• Assist with risk management and internal controls, including fraud prevention.

Income, Funds, and Stewardship

• Oversee the management of restricted, designated, and unrestricted funds.
• Monitor and reconcile income streams, including:
  • Planned giving and donations
  • Service fees (weddings, funerals, etc.)
  • Grants and trusts
  • Commercial and events income
• Support stewardship campaigns and fundraising initiatives with financial insight and reporting.

Payroll and Staffing Costs

• Working closely with the Governance and Administration Officer & our payroll provider to oversee payroll processing, pensions, and staff-related financial matters.
• Ensure compliance with employment and HMRC requirements.
• Work with line managers on staffing budgets and forecasts.

Systems and Processes

• Maintain and develop effective financial systems and software.
• Ensure accurate record-keeping and audit trails.
• Improve processes to enhance efficiency, transparency, and resilience.

Collaboration and Communication

• Work closely with the Head of Operations and PCC Treasurer, offering professional financial expertise and support.
• Occasional requirement to attend relevant subcommittee meetings, presenting financial reports clearly and accessibly.
• Where appropriate, support staff and volunteers with budget management and financial understanding.
• Communicate financial information sensitively and clearly to non-financial audiences.

• Strengthening engagement and retention across CMP's member schools, parishes, dioceses and suppliers
• Managing CMP's digital presence - including CRM optimisation, website development and platform alignment
• Creating and scheduling high-quality content across multiple channels (via Buffer), including CMP and IFM platforms.
• Overseeing newsletters, website updates, social media, and campaign materials with a consistent tone of voice
• Building strong relationships with suppliers, diocesan communications teams and the Catholic Education Service
• Tracking, analysing and reporting on campaign performance, engagement and ROI to inform senior-level decisions.

We're Looking for Someone Who Is:

• Understanding that although Manager by title, this is a stand-alone position, so an appetite to be hands on regarding day-day to delivery of the mar/coms function is essential.
• Experienced in marketing or communications, with experience in similar role and involvement in campaign planning and delivery.
• A strong writer and communicator, able to tailor tone for different audiences
• Skilled in using marketing tools such as Mailchimp, Canva and CRM systems, with the ability to produce both digital and print collateral
• Data-driven, with the ability to analyse performance and apply insights
• Exceptionally organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities in a remote environment
• Collaborative and personable, with strong relationship-building skills across internal teams and external partners
• Sympathetic to the mission and ethos of the Catholic Church, however you don't need to be a practicing Catholic.

​The Biochemical Society are seeking a Training Manager, on an 18-month Fixed Term contract to support the Biochemical Society Training programmes.

Training Manager role is an exciting opportunity to lead and deliver on agreed strategy across our current and future programme of training events, activities and resources, and plays a key role in taking the Society’s training programme forwards, focusing on the delivery and development of existing training programmes, the creation and implementation of exclusive members-only training opportunities to enhance our membership offering, and for devising and implementing new training courses by working with volunteers to develop appropriate content.

Reporting to the Director of Events and Training, this role will set up and lead all stages of delivering new training, from conception to delivery, working with subject matter experts to explore new ideas to provide surplus-generating training for existing and new training programmes by gathering insight from members, other organisations and wider markets to understand training needs and inform the design of programmes.

Suitable candidates will have experience delivering income generating science-based training programmes, using Learning Management Systems and have excellent interpersonal skills, working on complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.

About the role

You will deliver activities to support the MHCLG’s National Workforce Programme, by supporting housing and homelessness teams in both the public and voluntary sector to develop knowledge and skills Learning Pathways. Some Pathways will be specific to a role and others will be focussed on developing organisational knowledge, but all will support the development of professional skills and knowledge for those working with people experiencing housing and homelessness problems in England, to improve outcomes. You will also design, coordinate, and deliver a range of conferences and good practice events to promote learning and innovation across the sector.

About you 

You have proven experience in developing and managing tailored learning pathways and training programmes, including for housing and homelessness law and wider skills development, along with strong experience of working with people with multiple disadvantage and/or those who support them. You are able to develop and maintain partnerships across agencies to ensure the best client support and contribute to multiple agency projects, collaborating and sharing knowledge. Ideally, you are experienced in the homelessness sector or a related field, as well as having excellent skills in communication, IT and digital systems.

About the role

As the Operations Manager, accountable to the Board of Trustees, you will be responsible for the day to day running of all activities in relation to the operation of Ignite Life. You will ensure the provision of high-quality services and compliance with contractual and organisational standards, as well as working in partnership with the Fundraising Manager to ensure income generation for the charity.

This is a full-time, permanent position based at our office in Staple Hill, Bristol BS15. Whilst the post is mainly office based; there is some flexibility for hybrid working.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Operations Manager you will:

● Have operational leadership of the charity, ensuring day to day systems and practices are in good order and operating efficiently and effectively

● Support the Board of Trustees to set annual goals for Ignite Life

● Being the Designated Safeguard Lead for all of Ignite Life’s services.

● In partnership with the Fundraising Manager, ensure a consistent fundraising strategy for the charity is in place, including developing new partnerships and funding streams.

● Taking overall responsibility for the charity’s Health and Safety, and GDPR.

● Have oversight of charity’s financial position, including budgeting and updating managed accounts.

● Provide leadership for the core team of staff and volunteers (around 39 – 5 contracted counsellors and 1 clinical supervisor, 1 full-time employed staff member, 13 volunteers, 14-20 contracted youth mentors).

● Undertake regular and effective reporting to the Trustees.

● Manage annual reporting with the Charity Commission.

We're looking for someone who is extremely organised, can confidently manage a busy workload while building strong relationships with staff, volunteers and other agencies. You'll bring proven operational experience, alongside a real desire to work in an environment that focuses on supporting and improving the lives of marginalised young people and their families.

You’ll be able to demonstrate the following:

• An ability to build relationships with various stakeholders
• An understanding of mentoring and counselling practice and procedures.
• Strong safeguarding knowledge and practice.
• Excellent and various organisational skills in multiple areas.
• Ability to analyse data and produce clear, evidence-based reports.
