We’re recruiting for a Head of PS Financial Reporting to join our Finance team at Mencap. This is a pivotal role and the successful candidate will be in charge of the financial reporting across our Personal Support (PS) services in England, Cymru and Northern Ireland. The focus will be on providing robust financial oversight, compliance, and insight driven reporting that drives operational excellence.

This role is a full time permanent position. There is flexibility around where the role is based, we have large offices in London, and Peterborough and smaller offices located throughout the UK. Required Skills

• You will be a qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience.

• You will have a strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and financial governance.
• You will have excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience working in or with social care or charities is desirable.

What does The Animal Law Foundation do? 

The Animal Law Foundation was registered with the Charity Commission in August 2022. It is primarily a legal research charity that looks into neglected areas of animal law and where appropriate will instruct lawyers to bring legal challenges to secure any systems in place to protect animals function as they should.

Groups like this exist in the environmental and the human rights space in the UK and in the animal protection space in other countries. There is a desperate need for such work to exist for animals in the UK. 

The UK still has some of the best animal welfare laws in the world, yet the opportunity for vast change contained within these laws is rarely explored. Through exploring these opportunities the whole system for animals can be improved and set global examples.

What the role involves

1. Ensuring that there are regular training opportunities for both new starters and those requiring refresher sessions or updates when new functions or forms are released. 2. To support managing the case recording system help desk – so that support is always ava

4. Produce effective training materials and guidance documents, and develop and maintain a training area on our case recording system, including the creation of dummy forms and files for new users to access and use as a training sandbox

5. Performing case recording system changes to forms and lists as directed by the Information Governance and IT Lead

6. Support the Data Reporting and System Support Lead with regards to user administration and user support at times of absence and increased need

7. Working with the Learning and Development Coordinator to support the creation of e-learning training modules for our LMS (currently RISE) Acting at all times in line with safeguarding legislation and guidance in addition to Safer London’s practice guidelines and wider pan-London processes and protocols.

8. Undertaking any other duties as required and commensurate with the level of this post, including covering the Data Reporting and CRS support lead post functions when relevant.

Overall Job Purpose

This role is pivotal in making sure the HR & Culture team is a credible, approachable and proactive department and supports staff and volunteers to achieve DENS’ organisational aims. As the first point of contact for advice and support on all aspects of the employee life cycle, from recruitment to exit, you’ll keep on top of tasks and take ownership of supporting staff and managers with their HR queries. Supported by the Head of HR & Culture, you will deliver a service that is timely, accurate, consistent and compliant.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Respond to all HR and training queries, support staff with their HR needs such as recruitment, induction, absence, pay and benefits, escalating to the Head of HR & Culture where needed.

• Support the Head of HR & Culture to review, develop and maintain standard frameworks and documents for all HR processes, to ensure consistency of approach and best practice across all teams at DENS.

• Take ownership for managing compliance within the employee life cycle, including onboarding, offboarding, ensuring letters are produced, spreadsheets/databases are updated and associated paperwork collected.

• Lead on recruitment of all posts, including preparing and posting job advertisements. Liaise with hiring managers to offer guidance on screening applications and interview questions, ensuring timely communication with candidates. Draft and issue offer letters, contracts of employment and other onboarding documentation

• Carry out pre-employment checks including references, Right to Work and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks

• Deliver the HR Induction for new starters and regularly review the induction process to ensure it is kept up to date and is accessible.

• Ensure payroll administration is accurately completed for the monthly cut-off date, in liaison with the Finance team and payroll provider.

• Maintain and monitor staff records, including training, appraisals, annual leave, sickness absence, ensuring that pay is adjusted accordingly in line with DENS’ policies.

• Run reports and review data on the HR system (Breathe), highlighting issues or concerns and working collaboratively to come up with ideas and solutions.

• Pension administration, ensure all our legal obligations are met and all eligible staff are signed up to the scheme, in liaison with the pension provider.

The RSPB is seeking a Business Analyst to support the Finance Systems Replacement project, a Board priority and a major digital change project. The Finance Systems Replacement project seeks to replace several systems that are over 20 years old.

To capture these requirements and work effectively with the Finance and DT Teams regular travel will be required to The Lodge. A leading London-based cancer charity is seeking a Finance Business Partner to join them for a 12-month fixed-term contract (with potential for permanent thereafter). This well-known charity plays a vital role in funding cancer research, providing support for patients across a range of programme areas as well as leading in campaigning and advocacy work.

• Work closely with non-finance budget-holders to advise on in-year budgets and re-forecasts
• Develop relevant reports and templates or budget-holder training to improve budget-holder experience and financial acumen

Support Coordinator

We’re looking for an innovative, passionate and professional individual with excellent communication and organisational skills to join the Stroke Recovery Service based in the South of Tyne and Wear area.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with stroke survivors and their families to support them following stroke.

Position: S11317 Stroke Support Coordinator

Location: Home-based, South of Tyne and Wear. However, frequent travel will be required as part of this role (may include team meetings or other work-related meetings)

Salary: Circa £16,440 per annum (FTE circa £27,400 per annum)

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week

Contract: Services are contracted and there is currently funding for this contract until 31 March 2027.

The Role

The service aims to identify and address the needs of stroke survivors and carers across the stroke pathway, by providing a range of innovative support solutions, supporting them to meet their desired outcomes.

The Stroke Support Coordinator will:

• Support new stroke survivors and their carers from hospital discharge into the community.
• Provide personalised information, advice and support.
• Support clients to make informed lifestyle changes which will help them to prevent further strokes.

About You

The post holder will have experience/background in:

• A caring profession ideally with experience of supporting people with disabilities.
• Be able to demonstrate previous experience of working collaboratively with other organisations to achieve joint ambitions.
• Ability to use basic Microsoft systems.

This role requires extensive travel across a large geographical locality to visit people at home and in community settings. Candidates must be able to demonstrate how they can meet this requirement of the role.
