About the role

The Development Manager: Quality and Improvement role is an exciting and varied opportunity to work with Emmaus communities across the UK, helping to drive continuous improvement and prepare for the requirements of the Supported Housing Regulatory Oversight Act.

The role of Federation Development Manager: Quality and Improvement will sit within the Partnerships and Federation Development directorate, to support the delivery of key charity and federation-wide objectives, as part of our mission to empower people affected by homelessness and poverty to change their lives for the better while using our voice to achieve social change.

This is a hybrid role, offering the flexibility to work from home with travel across the UK as required.

Building and maintaining strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders will be key to this role. Regular travel to communities is essential, typically at least once a week. You will also attend quarterly team meetings, usually held in Birmingham, although these may occasionally take place elsewhere in the UK and may require an overnight stay.

Who are we looking for?

As part of the Partnerships and Federation Development directorate, the Federation Development Manager: Quality and Improvement, will support charity and federation-wide objectives, helping Emmaus UK and the wider federation to develop as a best-practice national body.

We are looking for someone with experience of managing continuous improvement programmes in a homelessness, housing or related sector. You will have experience of developing and implementing successful Quality Assurance strategies and be able to manage competing priorities in a changing environment.

You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills and be able to influence others, with a proven track record of driving organisational change. You will work proactively with communities, applying a coaching and mentoring approach to build capacity.

- Fully qualified CCAB accountant 

- Experience leading a team of qualified Management Accountants 

- Experience in project accounting, specifically capital and change projects 

- Experience working in a Senior Management Accountant role in a large organisation (250+ employees) working with budget holders as well as providing support and advice around financial management issues

Finance & Contract Management Officer

About Gambling Harm UK

Gambling Harm UK (GHUK) is a lived-experience-led public health charity working to prevent and reduce gambling harm. Formerly Gambling Education Network, we are independent of the gambling industry and funded by public money, which we take seriously.

We are in Year 1 of a two-year national programme. Our two largest contracts are with the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID) and NHS England, and we expect to add further contracts and grants as the charity grows. We are a small team where every role matters, and good financial management directly enables our mission.

The opportunity

This is a new post. You will be the person who keeps our finances accurate, our payments properly controlled, our contracts monitored and our funders confident that public money is being used well. You will report to the CEO, work day to day with the Director of Operations and our Bookkeeper, and have a direct line to the Treasurer and the Chair of our Audit & Risk Committee.

It is a hands-on role with real ownership of the numbers, the contracts and the controls. Two days a week is enough to do it well, and we are flexible about how those days are worked.

What you will do

Financial management and transactions

• Process payments, expenses and payroll runs through Apron, working within our dual-authorisation controls with the bank and our trustee authorisers

• Monitor bank accounts, cash flow and outstanding payments, and reconcile bank and Apron records with the Bookkeeper

• Monitor spend against approved budgets and flag variances and emerging pressures early

• Support preparation of budgets, forecasts and cash-flow projections

• Prepare monthly financial reports for the CEO, Director of Operations, Trustees and committees

• Make sure all spend is authorised in line with delegated authority and our financial policies

Contract and grant management

• Maintain the central register of contracts, grants and key supplier arrangements

• Monitor contract values, spend, milestones, KPIs and renewal dates for OHID, NHS England and future funders

• Prepare and submit funder claims and financial reports accurately and on time

• Flag financial or contractual risks and make sure they are acted on

• Give the CEO and Director of Operations early warning of expiry and renewal dates

Bookkeeping assurance and controls

• Work with the Bookkeeper so every transaction is recorded and coded to the right fund, project or funder

• Monitor and report on restricted funds

• Maintain financial controls, procedures and audit trails, and support the annual independent examination

• Identify control weaknesses or irregularities and escalate them

Procurement and compliance

• Support procurement in line with our policies, including quotations and documentation

What we are looking for

Essential

Quality Manager

Remote | 4-month FTC | Full-time, 35 hours per week

We’re working with a national charity to recruit an experienced Quality Manager for a four-month fixed-term contract.

This is a predominantly remote role, offering the opportunity to support quality, compliance and continuous improvement across a network of around 50 services throughout the UK.

Working to an established audit schedule, you’ll carry out quality and health & safety audits, analyse findings and work closely with operational teams to ensure actions are completed and improvements are embedded.

The role

You’ll be responsible for:

• Delivering remote and on-site quality and health & safety audits across services
• Working to an established organisational audit schedule
• Analysing quality and performance information to identify trends, risks and areas for improvement
• Producing clear audit reports, recommendations and action plans
• Supporting service managers to address audit findings and embed sustainable improvements
• Supporting services with CQC compliance and preparation for external inspections

• A NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent NVQ Level 3+ Health & Safety qualification

Purpose of the job

The postholder requires operational experience and knowledge at catchment scale as well as project and people management experience. They will take a strategic overview of the programme and guide our growth in the thematical and geographical area, with a particular focus on the following outcomes.

• Work with 20 farmers each year to reduce diffuse pollution at source and flood risk.
• Offer advice on nature-based solutions and grant funding to farmers and landowners.
• Plant 30,000 trees annually.
• Input and support the achievement of other applicable 5-year plan targets. i.e. River restoration and catchment scale monitoring.
• Increase Thames21 presence in the Thames Valley, identifying opportunities, supporting, and complimenting the work of other NGOs and regional Rivers Trusts.
• Developing up bid initiatives to support our work within communities

The role is a relatively new area of work for Thames21 and may consist of supporting a range of projects and programmes including Catchment Partnerships, Farm Clusters and Natural Flood Management.

Finally, the postholder will take a lead in progressing Thames21’s resilience strategy i.e. working closely with the Fundraising Team, the Catchment Partnership Team, and partner organisations to increase private and public investment to deliver healthy resilient rivers and catchments.

Additional requirements may include supporting other Thames21 projects and funding applications, as the need arises.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

You will oversee and manage the delivery of diverse projects. You will also develop your team’s scope, strategy and action plan in order to grow the team to deliver 5-year plan targets work closely with expert (e.g. statutory bodies, authorities, NGOs and academics) and non-expert (e.g. community groups and volunteers) stakeholders to develop, fund and deliver projects within the catchments, and oversee their management.  You will also work closely with the Assistant/ Head of Improving Riversand other members of the Thames21 team to develop funding applications and steer the direction of the catchment areas.

Lead project delivery, monitor progress, and identify risk mitigation strategies to ensure continued success.

Build and maintain relationships with internal teams, funding bodies, landowners and other external stakeholders.

As Accreditation Manager, you will lead the strategy, growth and delivery of our accreditation programmes, ensuring they support accessible, high-quality places, promote wellbeing and sustainability, generate income and demonstrate measurable impact. You will oversee budgets, partnerships, quality assurance, impact reporting and programme teams, while acting as a senior contact for government, sector bodies, partners, customers and stakeholders in the UK and internationally.

We are looking for someone with strong leadership, project management and relationship-building skills, together with the confidence to work with senior stakeholders and represent the organisation externally. You will bring experience of managing budgets, developing commercial or partner-funded relationships, solving complex problems and leading teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Knowledge of the green spaces sector is essential, while knowledge of the coastal and hospitality sectors would be an advantage.

About the Schools Consent Project

The Schools Consent Project is a UK-based charity dedicated to educating young people about sexual consent and healthy relationships. We deliver workshops in schools and educational settings led by trained volunteer lawyers. By introducing consent literacy at school, young people are more likely to make informed, ethical decisions and are less likely to experience or perpetrate sexual violence in later life.

Role Summary

The Outreach Manager is responsible for driving the expansion of the Schools Consent Project’s reach, engagement, and impact across London and the South East. Acting as the organisation’s lead “sales” and business development professional, you will contribute to and manage our strong pipeline of partner schools and organisations, convert leads into confirmed bookings, and maximise long-term engagement.
You will own the end-to-end outreach and partnership journey: from prospecting and lead generation, through relationship development and negotiation, to repeat engagement and retention.

About the Role

We are looking to recruit a permanent Finance Manager to join our busy finance team, working 30-37 hours per week, over a minimum of 4 days.

As Finance Manager, you will:-

• Provide day-to-day operational leadership of the finance team, including supervision, workload coordination, ongoing staff development and continuous improvement of processes and procedures.
• Act as the main link between the Finance Director and the Finance Team, translating strategic direction into clear, effective delivery.
• Lead month-end processes including the preparation of accurate and timely management accounts, maintaining strong balance sheet control and exercising sound judgement on complex financial issues.

About You

We need you to bring:

• AAT Level 4 Qualification or significant equivalent finance experience in a similar role, with responsibility for management accounts, reconciliations and income monitoring.
• Experience coordinating month-end processes and working across multiple income streams, contracts or funding arrangements.
• A methodical, organised approach to prioritising work and managing competing deadlines.
• Strong analytical skills and sound professional judgement, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues, identify financial and organisational risk and escalate issues appropriately.
• Experience supervising, supporting and developing others within a finance setting, with a collaborative leadership style and a commitment to continuous improvement.

The Opportunity

We are supporting an established UK animal welfare charity with the appointment of a Database & Fundraising Manager on an initial 7-month fixed-term contract, with the potential for the position to become permanent. Ideally able to travel to the Kent office Wednesday's but not essential.

This is a hands-on fundraising operations role with responsibility for the charity's CRM, supporter data, income processing, reconciliations, direct debits, lottery administration and fundraising campaign data.

You will work closely with the fundraising team, senior leadership and external accountants and suppliers, taking ownership of accurate data and efficient processes during a period of transition.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the charity's Raiser’s Edge CRM, including data entry, cleansing, imports, exports and supporter records.
