What's the role about?

You’ll be joining the RSPB England Education, Families and Youth team to support our regional partnerships with Girlguiding. In this role, you’ll contribute to the development and delivery of our key project outputs.

Key tasks:

• Design and deliver youth-focused nature engagement activities, including co-creating a nature and climate youth action toolkit and launching a Youth Nature Ambassador Network for members aged 10-18 to shape initiatives and lead their own projects.
• Design and deliver 'train the trainer' sessions to empower adult and young leaders in youth organisations, to embed nature and climate action into their core programming as well as driving the changes they are most passionate about.
• Coordinate and deliver project activities, ensuring timely, high-quality, and cost-effective outcomes. This includes managing volunteers, collaborating with partners, supporting budget monitoring, maintaining documentation, and helping embed project outcomes into long-term practice.
• Coordinate communications and stakeholder engagement, including facilitating meetings and creating briefings and materials to ensure effective communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
• You will be supported in your role by the England Youth Partnerships team, with opportunities to meet virtually with staff and volunteers, so you feel part of a team and learn about the work of the RSPB and Girlguiding. An induction and relevant training will be provided as well as support to further develop the skills needed for this role.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Experience in designing and delivering youth engagement sessions, events, workshops, or facilitated discussions for young people, with a focus on fostering learning and development, encouraging collaboration and promoting meaningful participation and decision-making.
• Strong communication skills with both adults and young people, with the ability to convey project goals in a passionate, credible, and persuasive manner to a wide range of audiences.
• Strong time management and organisational skills, with a working knowledge of project management principles and the ability to coordinate tasks across teams and stakeholders.
• Experience in developing, collaborating and working within effective partnerships and project teams, engaging both internal and external stakeholders to achieve shared goals and deliver outcomes.
• Experience in compiling reports and analysing numerical data to monitor progress, evaluate impact, and inform decision-making.
• Experience in developing and delivering engaging training programmes for adults, particularly in a way that builds confidence and practical skills.

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

• Experience in managing staff and/or volunteers, including recruitment, supervision, and development, coordinating workloads, nurturing positive relationships, and fostering a collaborative and productive team environment to ensure effective contributions to project outcomes.
• A solid understanding of the natural world, environmental issues, and practical actions that support nature conservation.

Additional Information:

• An England role, flexible on working pattern and part of a remote team.
• The role holder will be a homeworker, ideally be based in or within easy travelling distance of the Girlguiding South West England region (Gloucestershire, Bristol, Dorset, Somerset, Berkshire, Hampshire, Wiltshire).
• Travel may be required between the regions where we have Girlguiding partnerships.
• You will need to be available to run training at weekends and/or evenings.
• This is a 12 month fixed-term role for 22.5 hours per week.
• The RSPB reserves the right to extend or make this role permanent without further advertising dependent on business needs at the end of the contract term.

What we can offer you:

This role is essential in ensuring that all goods and services are sourced efficiently, cost-effectively, and in compliance with public sector procurement regulations and institutional policies.

You will play a key role in supporting the Procurement Team by ensuring timely delivery of resources and services, providing administrative support to the Team and having responsibility for procurement processes and policies.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Procurement processes and files

• To maintain and have responsibility for the Procurement Team’s eFiling system/SharePoint folders.
• Responsibility for overseeing the registration of new suppliers onto the Procurement Team’s e-tendering portal.
• To issue, collate and consolidate information requests from stakeholders at various levels.
• Requisition and reconciliation of purchase orders with invoices and liaise with the finance team to ensure timely and accurate payments.
• To manage low level categories where appropriate.
• Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual procurement reports and spend analysis for the Procurement Team and Senior Leadership.

Administration and diary management

• To provide administrative support to the Procurement Team; team calendar management, scanning, shredding, downloading and filing documents.
• To arrange and co-ordinate supplier presentations; organizing meetings rooms, receiving guests, taking meeting notes etc.
• To deal with day-to-day enquiries from internal and external stakeholders in a professional and timely manner.
• Assist academies with their requests relating to the scheme of delegation, approval thresholds, purchase requests, conducting benchmarking exercises and in some instances obtaining competitive quotes via our frameworks or recommended suppliers to ensure best value.
• Maintain a procurement calendar to manage contract renewals, tender deadlines, and key procurement events.
• Coordinate supplier meetings and performance review meetings with suppliers.
• Maintain and have responsibility for procurement mailboxes.
• To maintain Procurement’s intranet pages.

Role purpose:

Key responsibilities:

Retain and grow existing centre relationships 

• Manage a portfolio of existing centres, ensuring regular and meaningful engagement aligned to their needs, delivery patterns, and growth potential. 
• Deliver against annual centre income targets by supporting centres to continue and expand programme delivery.

Key Responsibilities

1.Regular Reporting

• Forecast and create monthly cash flow as requested. 
• Report on cash reserve levels with reference to the reserves policy.
• Produce timely and accurate management and financial accounts information, as requested by the Director or Trustees each month, with full explanation on significant areas and variances from budgets, using accrual accounting methods.

• Provide support in reviewing, monitoring and developing an appropriate and effective financial framework (policies, regulations, procedures and controls) that are in line with MEM’s strategy and values.
• Ensure financial processes and policies are up to date, communicated to and understood by the staff team and the Trustees. Ensure they are also in line with any regulatory requirements.
• Ensure appropriate risk management techniques and financial controls are embedded throughout the charity at strategic and operational levels. 

5.Donor Support

• Deal with any donor queries that come by email.
• Maintain up-to-date records of donors, field staff and other contacts in the MEM’s database. 
• Support the team with gift acknowledgements.
• Set up standing orders and keep records. 
• Process and record completed Gift Aid declarations, and regularly submit Gift Aid reclaims to HMRC.

6.Financial Administration

• Input all financial data (income and expenditure) into organisation’s CRM, accounting and other relevant software.
• Prepare and follow up suppliers’ invoices for payment. 
• Make payments for all authorised invoices.
• Process expense claims and make payments. 
• Manage the banking of income (cheques and cash).

Job Purpose: 

Volunteering Matters are partnering with Active Suffolk to recruit  6 Community Connectors to work in the following areas of Ipswich: 

• 2 x Whitton 

• 1 x Gainsborough

• 1 x Belstead Hills 

The ideal candidates will have strong local knowledge of the area and preferably, live within the community they are assigned to. In this role, you will have conversations with local residents (aged 18+) to capture lived experience around barriers, motivations, perceptions of being physically active in the local community. You must be a confident communicator and able to work off your own initiative.

The information collected will be shared with project partners and local stakeholders to guide further learning and community development, with the goal of securing future funding for further investment in these areas.

• Identify, plan and create opportunities to have conversations with local residents around being physically active in the local community

• Identify community needs – gather information from local residents on what they value the most, the challenges they face, and what services or initiatives could benefit them. This could be done through informal conversations, community meetings, surveys 

• Share ideas with the local community and project partners/ stakeholders 

• Signpost to information and support for residents wanting to get more involved with their local community 

• Build relationships and networks locally to promote and create opportunities for conversations.

Responsibilities:

• Leadership of the organisation and management of staff
• Holding the safeguarding of our children and their families at the heart of all we do
• Eliciting feedback from families and the wider beneficiary community to develop services
• Fundraising and income development
• Ensuring the financial management of the charity works towards greater sustainability
• Developing the organisational structure, its processes, and methods of service delivery
• Delivery of accreditation as required e.g., DDP (Dyadic Development Practice) and CPD (Continuing Professional Development)
• Protecting the reputation of the organisation, constantly improving processes and procedures
• Improving service efficiency and maintaining compliance e.g. GDPR
• Overseeing public relations activity
• Developing all of the above with an eye to environmental sustainability
• Other responsibilities as designated by the Trustees

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for an experienced charity leader to hit the ground running with some knowledge or awareness of the families that we support and the issues that they face. Most importantly we are looking for experience of financial management, fundraising, staff management and strategic development to help our organisation grow and thrive into the next 5 years and beyond.

Essential experience:

• Knowledge or awareness of children in permanence who have been in the care
• system for example in adoption, special guardianship or kinship care families
• Leadership within a growing organisation
• Leadership and management of staff and volunteers
• Fundraising and diversifying income
• Financial management
• IT literacy

Desirable experience:

• Familiarity with Dyadic Developmental Practice
• Development of systems that enable good processes and communication across the
• organisation
• Partnership working with other organisations e.g. charities and local authorities
