Healthwatch City of London are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced communications and engagement officer to ensure that the patient and service users voice is at the heart of Health and Social Care decision making. The successful candidate will drive engagement with the local community, creating visibility of our work to residents and partners. You will also be responsible for the management of our volunteer team and the exciting projects they undertake.
This part time role (4 days a week) is within a busy small team representing the residents, workers and students of the City of London. Healthwatch City of London are the independent champion for people who use health and social care services. We’re here to make sure that those running services, put people at the heart of care. Our sole purpose is to understand the needs, experiences and concerns of people who use health and social care services, and to speak out on their behalf. We also work to get services right for the future.
You’ll also be representing our organisation at network meetings across all the various Health and Social Care providers, charity partners and patient groups across North East London.
Role purpose
Working closely with the General Manager and Trustees you will develop and deliver the communications and engagement strategy for the organisation, making sure the patients voice is at the heart of everything we do. You will write monthly newsletters, daily social media posts, organise and manage engagement and information events and produce statutory publications. You will also deliver the volunteer strategy by recruiting and managing a wide-ranging volunteer team and identifying relevant projects which enhance and deliver on Healthwatch City of London objectives.

Information about the Job Role
This full-time role will be best suited for applicants who are able to balance a busy work schedule being both office based and community based, working mainly with Primary and Secondary aged children and their families, and delivering workshops and one to one support in Croydon based Primary and Secondary Schools, and at CDI sites. Applicants must be willing to travel around Croydon as the service is community based. Occasional travel outside of Croydon may also arise to best meet the needs of those accessing the service. We’re aiming to improve our data use, integration and analytics to increase engagement, maximise impact and drive forward our strategic goals. Our Infrastructure Systems Manager plays a crucial role in the development, support and maintenance of these systems, implementing the tools and technology we need as well as driving the reduction of IT costs where possible.
This role is responsible for:
- Maintenance of technical infrastructure based on Microsoft technologies
- Automated process creation to ensure systems are monitored and managed
- Migration of remaining on premise systems to Microsoft cloud based solutions

Hours and place of work
- This is a full-time role to be fulfilled over a 35-hour week, ideally within the working hours of Mon-Fri, 9:30am–5:30pm, with flexibility as required.
- This is a hybrid role with one day a week in our shared office space in London (Better Space, 127 Farringdon Road, London EC1R 3DA), the travel costs of which must be covered by the individual. We are open to discussing this arrangement further to accommodate individual needs and preferences.
- Further UK travel will be required on occasion, the costs of which would be covered by Clore Social Leadership.
Terms, pay and benefits

About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Finance and Resources, the Deputy Finance Director will work at the heart of the V&A’s strategic and operational decision-making. The postholder will provide leadership to the Finance and Procurement teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality financial management, business partnering, statutory reporting, and compliance across a complex, multi-site organisation.
Key priorities will include:
- Developing and delivering a multi-year strategic financial model to strengthen resilience and support commercial growth.
- Leading the annual business planning cycle and aligning financial plans to strategic objectives.
- Enhancing financial systems, reporting, and processes to improve decision-making and efficiency.
- Championing strong financial controls, risk management, and compliance across the organisation.
- Overseeing statutory accounts, external reporting, and technical advice on VAT, Gift Aid, and other tax matters.
- Acting as a trusted adviser to senior leaders, the Board, and external stakeholders.
About You
The V&A is looking for a qualified CCAB accountant (or equivalent) with experience leading finance teams in large, complex organisations. You will have:
- A strong track record in statutory accounts, budgeting, and forecasting
- Technical expertise in accounting and charity taxation
- The ability to present complex financial information clearly to varied audiences

We're recruiting an inspiring, senior fundraising professional to join the Francis Crick Institute, Cancer Research UK's flagship discovery research institute in London, as a Philanthropy Campaign and Operations Lead.
Positioned at the frontier of scientific discovery, the Crick is deliberately different from other institutes-open, collaborative, and interdisciplinary. As Europe's largest biomedical research facility under one roof, our design and approach enable us to fuel scientific progress like few others. Working in partnership with Cancer Research UK, and building on the success of the More Research, Less Cancer campaign, the Crick is now developing a dedicated Crick philanthropy campaign to take things to the next level. We're hiring a Campaign and Operations Lead to drive this forward-leading the campaign strategy, planning, and operations for the growing Crick philanthropy programme.
You'll head up a small operational and campaign team and work cross-functionally with Crick and CRUK colleagues to shape and deliver the campaign from quiet phase to pre-launch, launch and beyond, which will have long-term impact. Your work will help ensure that we help change lives for the better, delivering the research that means we will overcome cancer and many other diseases. It is a unique time to join the Crick. What will I be doing?
Lead the development and implementation of the Crick specific philanthropy campaign, working with the Associate Director to develop the overarching campaign strategy, scope, and goals.
Partner with senior leadership as well as scientists, philanthropy and operational colleagues to develop and implement strategies for the campaign; guide discussions with senior leadership on campaign strategy and develop a multi-year campaign plan.
Inspire and engage the multiple stakeholders of the Campaign, ensuring that everyone involved is engaged, has a clear understanding of what is expected of them, particularly working in partnership with colleagues in philanthropy, communications, scientific leadership and CRUK.
Develop an inspiring campaign identity and case for support, and donor centric propositions and gift opportunities, aligned with institutional priorities, supported by insight from a feasibility study.
Oversee the operations of the Crick philanthropy programme and campaign, working with CRUK colleagues to monitor effectiveness and implement improvements as needed. Collaborate with CRUK Insight and Reporting team to utilise systems and data to inform decision making, and ensure compliance and performance measurement.
Lead a team of professionals to ensure high-quality administration, strategic coordination and management of campaign and operational activities at all levels including managing and reporting philanthropic income.
Collaborate with the CRUK Philanthropy team to develop the senior volunteer strategy and support the Associate Director to deliver this through the Development Committee and Board.
With the Associate Director, lead the management and delivery of governance requirements within the Crick to include Crick Fundraising Committee, Science Management Committee and Executive Committee.
What are you looking for?
Experience of leading strategic fundraising or engagement campaigns in complex, high-performing environments and a sophisticated understanding of philanthropy and the principles of major gift fundraising.
Extensive experience in project management and/or fundraising operations management in complex environments with multiple stakeholders.
Significant experience leading and motivating teams to deliver to business objectives in an organisation of relevant scale and complexity.
Excellent project management and organisation skills, with the ability to deliver to a high standard consistently with competing and demanding deadlines.
Ability to deal with ambiguity and to navigate new territory, setting a clear path and establishing new protocols; with demonstrated analytical skills and ability to problem solve.
Strategic mindset with proven experience of developing and implementing strategies and working closely and influencing others
Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to work with, and communicate effectively and professionally with, a wide range of individuals from internal colleagues, institutional leaders, scientists, and external collaborators, stakeholders, donors and senior volunteers.
