Being Peace Centre is a new mindfulness practice centre founded by Plum Village UK in the tradition of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. Located on a beautiful historic farm in Abenhall, Gloucestershire, the centre will provide a peaceful environment for retreats and mindfulness practice throughout the year.

The centre will accommodate:

• 30+ residential guests year round
• Visiting teachers throughout the year
• The potential to grow this number to 60+ guests over the coming years
• A resident lay community of 6-8 people

Role Purpose

As Centre Director, you will provide leadership and operational management for this exciting new project during its critical establishment phase. Working collaboratively with the Plum Village UK Trustees, resident community, dharma teachers and visiting monastics, you will help bring this vision to life and ensure the centre's long-term sustainability.

This is a unique opportunity to help shape the foundation and culture of a significant new Buddhist centre in the UK, combining practical management skills with deep alignment to mindfulness principles.

The Role

We are seeking a proactive, and detail-oriented HR Coordinator (ITT onboarding) to join our Central Team, based in Ed City - London or Lift New Rickstones in Essex, on a fixed term basis. This pivotal role will ensure Lift Schools meets all statutory and regulatory requirements relating to safer recruitment, employment compliance, and Initial Teacher Training (ITT) processes.

You will lead on pre-employment checks, safeguarding compliance, and onboarding for ITT trainees — maintaining rigorous standards and robust systems to ensure that safeguarding remains at the heart of all we do. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on precision, takes pride in compliance excellence, and understands the importance of getting every detail right to protect and support our schools and trainees.

This role can be 29.6 or 30 hours per week, depending on individual preference, and working hours can be across between 4 or 5 days depending on personal preference. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the compliance process for employment checks across Lift Schools, ensuring full adherence to Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE).
• Oversee DBS, right to work, reference, and medical clearances for all staff and trainees.
• Ensure employment contracts, offer letters, and variation letters are accurate, compliant, and issued on time.
• Maintain robust and auditable compliance records, producing regular reports for senior leaders.
• Manage ITT compliance processes in line with regulatory requirements (e.g. Ark Teacher Training).
• Coordinate onboarding for all new ITT trainees, ensuring a smooth, compliant, and welcoming experience.
• Develop and deliver training to staff on compliance and onboarding procedures.
• Act as the first point of contact for ITT compliance queries, providing expert advice and guidance.

Build Up is a youth-led charity that designs and builds public spaces, supporting young people aged 10-23 years old to shape their local area. We’re looking for a Head of Income Generation to drive our fundraising strategy and secure significant investment for our youth-led projects.

The Development Officer, Operations will play a key role in supporting this transformation. The Development Officer, Operations supports our fundraising goals in these key areas:

About the opportunity

We are now recruiting for a Programme Coordinator for our schools in the North West.

• The North West Programme Coordinator oversees a caseload of up to seven partner schools. They manage the logistics and organisation of each school’s tutoring programme, working closely with the schools and pupils and managing the pool of volunteer tutors. They attend the weekly tutoring sessions at each school, as well as overseeing the quality of face to face and online tutoring, always working to deliver a great impact.
• The North West Programme Coordinator supports the recruitment of volunteer tutors, manages the tutor sign up process, develops relationships with schools including their Senior Leadership Team and subject teachers, collects data for monitoring and evaluation purposes, and works with other internal teams on business development opportunities.

Contract and hours: Fixed term contract until 31st July 2026. Full time. We offer flexible hours with 9:30-4 as core hours. A full working week is 37.5 hours.

Duties and responsibilities

• Responsible for the delivery of Action Tutoring’s tutoring programmes in partner schools, whether online or face to face. This includes working closely to manage all key stakeholders: schools, pupils and volunteer tutors; regularly attending weekly tutoring sessions; leading on reviewing and improving programme delivery, using data to reliably assess programme performance.
• Responsible for overseeing the quality of tutoring, engaging in quality assurance processes, and providing feedback to volunteer tutors to ensure effective and impactful delivery. Provide regular check-ins with tutors to ensure ample support and guidance is given to provide targeted tuition to pupils.
• Develop and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders in partner schools, including members of the Senior Leadership Team and subject teachers. Maintain clear and timely communication with relevant school staff, offering regular check-ins with key school stakeholders, and contribute to impact reporting to schools. Supporting the Programme Manager with strategies to retain and sustain school partnerships.
• Update and accurately maintain Action Tutoring’s database, including collecting timely data for monitoring and evaluation purposes, such as attendance records, baseline and interim assessments and pupil surveys. Reporting regularly on key performance indicators to key stakeholders and using them to enhance programme delivery. Work with the Programme Manager on business development, approaching new schools that might be interested in working with Action Tutoring.
• Proactively report to the Programme Manager on the details of Action Tutoring’s operations in their partner schools.

Qualification criteria:

Being the sole representative for a partner school, you will need to use your ability to work independently and with initiative, often organising your own time to meet deadlines. You’ll also need to have a strong aptitude for developing relationships with a range of stakeholders ensuring you uphold high standards of communication and adapt your style for different audiences. The nature of this role will also require you to demonstrate adaptability, resilience and the ability to cope with some uncertainty. 

This position would suit you if you’re looking to develop your experience in the education or charity sectors. Existing experience of working with young people and/or project management in a charity or education setting would be an asset. As a charity that values and celebrates people's diversity and champions opportunities for all young people, we are keen to receive applications from people who have experienced disadvantage and from those who are of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities who are currently underrepresented in the organisation. Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. In 2024 we embarked on our new 10-year strategy for ending homelessness. We know it is not inevitable. We know together we can end it.

Contract: Must be available for 2 days during w/c 15th Dec for induction and site visit before the hotel opens on 23 Dec. 

Pay: £20 per hour (£30 per hour on Bank Holidays)

Shifts: 07:45 – 20:15 (day) and 19:45 – 08:15 (night) on site at the hotel and you will be entitled to 2 x 30 minute unpaid breaks during your shifts.

The role

This is a unique opportunity to join the Crisis at Christmas team as a Women’s Pathway coordinator at a hotel and way of working we are introducing for the first time in East London. The Women-led Pathway is specifically designed for women experiencing homelessness and is a women-led initiative grounded in a psychologically informed approach. Your aim will be to ensure guests have a positive experience, that we achieve the impact we want and that there is consistency throughout the duration of the project. Crisis at Christmas is innovative and achieves great things, we want you to be part of that.

The purpose of the role is to be the key on-site point of contact for volunteers, case managers, hotel staff and members of our security team. You will play a key role in ensuring Crisis at Christmas policies and procedures around volunteering, incident management, safeguarding and guest wellbeing and behaviour are being followed. You will ensure volunteers are supported with any issues, difficult conversations and incidents that may arise with our hotel guests.

You will be responsible for escalating any serious concerns or issues to the Guest services manager, Head of Christmas and on-call managers during the Christmas period who will all be able to provide advice and guidance for any issues you may encounter on site.

To be considered for the role you must be able to be on site at the hotel in London during the Christmas period. This will include working on Bank Holidays and weekends.

Experience required 

• Previous experience managing or working intensively in services for women, ideally in a hostel or accommodation environment in the homelessness or related sector.
• Experience working with and supporting women with multiple and complex needs.
• A good understanding of the issues faced by women experiencing homelessness.
• Ability and confidence to consult and use own initiatives to manage risk and make appropriate decisions in complex situations.
• Experience of holding high quality briefings and debriefs with multiple different audiences.
• Ability to build and manage effective working relationships with multiple different stakeholders from a range of backgrounds.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively and confidently with a wide range of audiences.

Shifts

You will also accrue annual leave during this work, which will be calculated according to statutory guidelines and will be paid in your final payslip. Holiday entitlement will be calculated as 12.07% of actual hours worked and equates to approximately £3.80 per hour for bank holidays worked and £2.40 per hour for non-bank holiday work.
