Job description
About The Role

As Events Manager overseeing Event Planning & Delivery, you’ll take the lead on a varied portfolio of fundraising events across the UK and continental Europe, with a particular focus on cycling. This is a role where you’ll own the detail from the outset, shaping event plans, managing logistics, coordinating suppliers and partners, overseeing budgets and making sure everything is in place for a successful delivery. You’ll lead on our owned events as well as working with external event organisers, with responsibility for everything from course design, venues and travel through to road closures, health and safety and commemorative elements. It’s a broad events role with plenty of scope to develop the portfolio, improve existing events and identify opportunities to increase participation and return.

Come and be part of the leading Armed Forces charity, making a difference to the lives of those who have served to keep us safe and protect our way of life.

You’ll be joining as an experienced events professional who is comfortable managing multiple moving parts and making decisions when things don’t go exactly to plan. You’ll work across internal teams and build strong relationships with event agencies, suppliers, councils, local authorities, corporate partners and other stakeholders, making sure everyone understands what needs to happen and when. You’ll manage project plans, budgets and KPIs, oversee contracts and supplier performance, recruit and coordinate volunteers and lead the on-the-day delivery of events. You’ll also have the support and responsibility of an Events Logistics Coordinator, giving you the opportunity to lead others while remaining closely involved in the practical delivery of your events.

We’re looking for someone who knows events inside out and enjoys the combination of planning, problem-solving and being there when it all comes together. You’ll need strong project management and organisational skills, commercial awareness and the confidence to build relationships with people at all levels. Experience of large-scale cycling events, overseas delivery or commemorative events would be particularly useful, but we’re interested in the wider experience you bring and your ability to deliver consistently high standards across a busy portfolio. If you’re someone who takes ownership, spots the detail others might miss and wants genuine responsibility for developing and delivering a programme of fundraising events, this is a role where you’ll have plenty to get your teeth into.

You will be contracted to our Haig House hub with a minimum expectation of two days per week working in person at the hub and flexibility for working remotely/at home when not on site.

Employee benefits include -

- 28 day’s paid holiday (plus bank holidays) increasing with service, with optional annual leave purchase scheme of up to 5 working days
- Enhanced paid maternity, paternity and adoption leave
- Generous pension scheme with employer contributions ranging from 6% to 14%, depending on length of service
- Range of flexible working options may be available, depending on your role
- Employee Assistance Programme providing confidential counselling, financial and legal advice
- Range of courses delivered by learning specialists to support your development goals and objectives
- Opportunities to volunteer
- Travel loans, Cycle to Work, and more!

For more detailed information about the role, please see the Job Description attached to our direct advert. Our teams take a personalised approach to shortlisting, which is carried out without the use of AI and is based on the evidence provided in your application against the essential and desirable criteria in the Person Specification.

RBL is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive organisation, reflecting the diversity of the armed forces community and of wider society. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and personal characteristics.

As part of our commitment to inclusion, we offer interview schemes for candidates who declare an Armed Forces connection and/or a disability. However, candidates are only eligible for this scheme if their application clearly demonstrates that they meet all of the essential criteria listed in the Person Specification for the role.

We may close this vacancy early if we believe we have enough strong applications to be able to successfully fill the role(s). Interested candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
