JOB DESCRIPTION

Working to specific income targets, the Supporter Engagement Manager is responsible for acquisition campaigns including regular giving, direct mail appeals, online fundraising, legacys;  retention campaigns including ongoing stewardship to increase supporter engagement. You will grow relationships with supporters and work closely with wider fundraisering team to devise and execute creative and effective stewardship journeys. You will have a sound understanding of fundraising membership schemes and sector regulations, with knowledge of best practice CRM and/or fundrasing database.

The Supporter Engagement Manager will work with the Senior Head of Supporter Engagement to develop the strategy for increasing income across all individual giving streams and then work with the Marketing and Communications Manager and the wider team to impliment it. You will play an instrumental part in creatively engaging supporters to get involved in our high-value campaigns, events and regular giving programme. This includes our annual matched-funding campaign and reoccuring giving programmes, which last year raised £1m and £150k respectively. The post-holder will be key in taking the Individual Giving programme to the next level, providing proactive engagement opportunities and efficiently work with data to provide timely, targeted, relevant and engaging communications to our various supporters.

Overall purpose

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the national development and delivery of our relationships with the private sector to maximise income and impact to support refugees into meaningful employment.

The main purpose of the Partnerships Manager role is to deliver first-class account management and development of corporate partnerships to drive Breaking Barriers mission.

Working closely with Senior Partnerships Managers, Head of Corporate Partnerships, and members of the Income & Engagement and Services Directorates, you will be responsible for launching, retaining and developing a portfolio of partnerships ensuring we deepen and strengthen relationships whilst identifying opportunities for growth.

You will play your part in delivering and developing strategic relationships to bring value to our refugee clients and our employment and education programmes.

The successful candidate will have experience managing corporate partner relationships, including making fundraising asks and managing external communication with donors and partners at all levels of seniority. You will deploy your influencing skills and ability to build profitable relationships to great effect as you take a leading role identifying and nurturing future strategic partnerships. An understanding of Corporate Social Responsibility would be advantageous.

This role is essential to ensure we continue to be an effective, inclusive and people-led organisation. Your role will be vital in making sure Breaking Barriers is and continues to be a great place to work for its staff.

You will deliver day to day HR support to team members and managers, work across the organisation to advise on HR policies and good practice, deliver recruitment processes, and deliver and track Learning & Development. You will support on wider strategic initiatives, working with the Director of People to embed new strategies and projects informed by employee feedback.

Our 627 sqm facilities host over 40 members and staff each day, providing a vibrant space for support services, creative projects, and events. As our Cleaner, you will be responsible for the cleaning and general upkeep of the centre and offices of Headway East London. You will play a vital role in maintaining a welcoming, clean, and safe environment for our community. • Working with an agency cleaner to perform cleaning duties as per the cleaning schedule, to ensure satisfactory levels of cleanliness throughout the building.

• Contribute towards retaining our 5 Star rating kitchen standards by supporting the kitchen team with post lunch cleaning.

• Work flexibly to support with ad hoc cleaning around out of hours events.

• Update the admin team when supplies of consumables are running low, ensuring that basic supplies are always available.

• Update the Admin and Premises Manager with any observation of health and safety risks and concerns.

• Assist the Admin and Premises Manager to improve and maintain our health and safety standards.

• Secure the building at the end of the day.

Fundraising experience

• Demonstrable experience of working in a fundraising role in a charity or similar non-profit organisation

Community Energy is gaining momentum nationally, where people are increasingly coming together to  take control of their own energy supplies.  Grand Union Community Energy (GUCE, pronounced “juice”) is looking to see local communities along the Grand Union canal in Hertfordshire enjoy a clean and resilient energy system that benefits all.  We develop, support and promote renewable energy and energy efficiency projects for communities from Watford to Tring, and build householder resilience by helping them reduce their bills and energy use.

We are seeking a Project Manager for two days a week, to help develop the opportunities that are forthcoming. Depending on the skills of the applicant the same individual could also cover aspects of other roles we are looking to fill.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a person with experience in project management to join our small but expanding team. The Project Manager for Community Energy will be responsible for converting opportunities for local renewable energy generation and energy efficiency projects into reality. They will take projects from concept, through funding and construction to management.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Deliver new potential projects, such as opportunities with Watford industrial units:

  • Work with technical specialists to assess the energy needs of the community, including energy demand, infrastructure, and renewable energy potential (solar, wind, biomass, etc.).

  • Identify and engage stakeholders (local authorities, local organisations, energy providers, and residents).

• For new and existing projects: 

  • Develop and monitor an overall plan to realise projects including timelines, budgets, resources and risk management strategies in conjunction with the Development Officer / Project teams.

  • Manage share offers.

  • Communication with potential local investors.

  • Manage paperwork.

  • Ensure the projects are realised rather than remaining just good ideas.

  • Work with others to manage cross-functional teams, including installers, contractors, and local community leaders.

  • Coordinate with local authorities, regulatory bodies, and partners to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.

  • Foster a collaborative environment with all project team members.

  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring all costs are tracked, controlled, and aligned with available funding.

  • Work in partnership with the installer to oversee the procurement of materials, equipment, and services necessary for the project.

  • Track the progress of energy projects against objectives, milestones, and KPIs (key performance indicators).

  • Regularly report to stakeholders, funding agencies, and community members on project status and outcomes in collaboration with Project teams and Comms.

  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.

Required

Experience: 

Experience in community engagement and project management is key, with that in renewable energy projects desirable.

In this role, the project manager serves as a bridge between technical experts, local communities, and other stakeholders, ensuring that energy solutions are not only sustainable and innovative but also beneficial and accessible to all involved.

Terms and Conditions

Salary: Pro-rated salary for 2 days per week, £13,000 to £19,000 per annum (£34,000 to £47,000 full time equivalent) depending on experience plus 3% pension contribution.

Hours: 2 days per week (15 hours). The working hours can be flexible.

Location: Home-working, ideally within the GUCE catchment area from Watford to Tring.

You will need to travel to meet stakeholders, attend relevant meetings and visit potential sites. You may be called upon to work outside office hours.

Contractual arrangements: 12 months fixed term with the opportunity to extend, subject to 3 months’ probation.

There is a notice period of four weeks from both sides.

Holidays: The equivalent of 28 days per annum excluding Bank Holidays, pro-rata for the part-time nature of the post.

Thanks to National Lottery players, Community Energy Pathways has been awarded £1.5M from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest community funder in the UK, to deliver its Community Energy People project over three years. About this role

As a Communications Manager your responsibilities would include: -    

1. Lead, inspire and manage the Communications team to raise the profile of Carers First with multiple audiences and awareness of the issues affecting carers 
2. Develop our digital offer across England to expand our reach and engagement with carers online, helping them to access timely and relevant information.
3. Support the wider Carers First team with the promotion and delivery of projects and events to strengthen our offer and services for carers. 
4. Work with the Director of Income and Engagement, and the wider fundraising team, to support campaigns, events and marketing approaches that increase Carers First’s voluntary income and wider donor engagement
5. Effectively develop and manage a range of stakeholder relationships to deliver the Communications Plan.

About you

To be successful in this role you will need:

Leadership and management 

• At least 3 years of experience in a senior communications position, ideally within the charity or public sectors

• Proven ability to manage both strategy and delivery programmes, balancing long-term objectives with operational priorities
• Superb manager with the proven ability to inspire, motivate, support and lead staff to thrive and create a high performing team and measurable results.

Communications and stakeholder engagement 

• Proven experience of developing and delivering marketing and/or communications plans 

• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
• Skilled copywriter able to communicate messages in a clear and engaging way

IT and digital experience  

• Experience using Canva or similar accessible content creation tools, with an eye for strong visual design and brand consistency

The Events & Fundraising Manager will work at the heart of our public events programme, helping to organise fundraising walks and other events across London and the South East, and raising funds to support the provision of free legal advice. Our events include the London Legal Walk -- an annual event which raises over £1 million each year -- regional Legal Walk events, and other fundraising events such as the Great Legal Quiz and the Great Legal Bake. The Individual Giving & Community Fundraising Manager will have an exciting opportunity to grow World Child Cancer’s individual giving. They will also lead on creating a donor experience that will ensure people can engage with us in lots of different ways, from a lottery or regular support, legacies, community fundraising and events (including the London Marathon).

The post holder will be responsible for:

• Managing and growing individual giving.
• Recruiting and stewarding individual supporters through existing channels.
• Helping to secure funding to invest in launching a World Child Cancer charity lottery.
• Stewarding participants to build a pool of regular givers, medium level donors, legacy donors and event participants.
• Ensuring fundraising data is effectively managed, analysed and utilised.
• Managing the challenge and community fundraising. Supported by the Fundraising Executive.
• Supporting the Fundraising Executive responsible for the planning and logistics for fundraising events.
• Working collaboratively with the other Fundraising teams and Marketing to ensure supporters get the best experience.

This is a hands-on management role so you will need to be prepared to do the work as well as managing. The post holder will be an ambitious, creative self-starter who is passionate about World Child Cancer’s programmes as well as our fundraising activities. They will work as well in a team as they do on their own and be happy to undertake administrative tasks as well as more complex fundraising projects. As a smaller organisation (circa £3m) everyone has to be prepared to support each other, so tasks may vary.
