The King’s Trust is looking for a passionate and highly skilled Communications Manager to join our talented Communications team as we prepare to celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2026.

In this fixed-term role, you will play a key part in delivering The Trust’s external communications activity during our anniversary year. By helping The Trust to maximise this milestone moment, the work you do will help to boost our public profile, reach new supporters, and thank our communities meaningfully – ultimately increasing engagement with and support for our work.

You will lead communications projects for our anniversary by developing bespoke activations and messaging, always ensuring the stories of Trust-supported young people are at the heart of everything we do.

You will empower young people who have been through our programmes to tell their stories across a range of different media and digital channels. As part of this, you will support the Senior Communications Manager in working with our Young Ambassadors, who are young people who volunteer to share their experiences of being supported by The Trust with our audiences.

In this unique role within the Communications team, you will be instrumental in shining a light on how we support young people to change their lives for the better, ultimately engaging more people in The Trust’s work during our 50th year and increasing support for young people.

Field Studies Council Epping Forest is situated in the heart of Epping Forest, an area of around 2,400 hectares of wood-pasture stretching from Manor Park in East London to just north of Epping in Essex.

Two thirds of the Forest have been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a Special Area of Conservation (SAC). Our purpose built, fully accessible centre has six classrooms, and associated facilities, with direct access into our teaching sites which include woodland, grassland, heath, and river.

Lead on data protection compliance, including incident management and Subject Access Requests (SARs)

You will provide high quality support to the Head of Audit, Risk & Governance in the implementation and oversight of effective risk management and assurance policies and procedures for the whole organisation.

Role Requirements

• Your main objectives is to support the board and senior leadership team in ensuring the charity continues to deliver high-quality, safe, effective and financially sustainable services for vulnerable children now and in the longer-term;
• Under the guidance of the Head of Risk, Audit & Governance, and in collaboration with key stakeholders across the organisation, coordinate and manage the implementation and ongoing development of the charity’s risk management framework; risk policies, risk appetite statement; “risk universe” and board assurance framework / assurance map;
• Undertake deep dive risk assessments and provide assurance over the effectiveness of internal controls from time to time as required by Audit & Risk Committee;
• Undertake a quarterly review of key financial controls and report findings to the Finance, Finance, Investments & Resources Committee and Audit & Risk Committee;
• Monitor and report on the implementation of agreed management actions designed to strengthen risk mitigation strategies / close compliance gaps and provide assurance on these to SLT and trustees.
• Prepare the risk update for SLT, the board and each of its committees including risk heat maps and key risk indicators for the charity’s principal risks.
• Establish effective working relationships with other second line risk, quality and compliance functions and periodically monitor the effectiveness of their activities.
• Liaise with SLT directors to ensure departmental risk registers are in place and appropriately maintained.
• Facilitate risk workshops and provide online training on TCT’s risk management policy and procedures. Meet regularly with risk owners to review risk responses and progress with actions.  Ensure there is an effective process of escalation of significant risks to SLT and trustees;
• Prepare an annual review of the effectiveness of internal control and risk management for the Audit & Risk Committee;

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To develop, implement and evaluate the Banter Project youth service in partnership with adopted young people in Northern Ireland.  These young people range in age from 14-25 years and live throughout Northern Ireland.  The role will primarily work with the project participants, but has additional relationships with community organisations, educational establishments and employers to ensure that all project goals and outcomes are efficiently and effectively met.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• To lead the development and delivery of all elements of the Banter Project adopted young people’s service within Northern Ireland in a fun, interactive, interesting and an ability appropriate manner.

• To support the project participants to play an active role in the design and implementation of a programme of monthly activities for adopted young people. Sustaining and developing a monthly social hub, supporting the development of basic life-skills, and preparation for opportunities in further education, training, employment.

• To support a Youth Advisory Group (YAG) in its role to enable adopted young people to steer the Banter Project while developing skills which promote independence, personal development, social and life skills, leadership, and community involvement.

• To organise and supervise the work of the Youth Services Support Worker to deliver the Banter Project. 

• To provide opportunities to connect with, and signpost to, relevant services, particularly those who work with care experienced young people.

• To develop and implement robust monitoring and evaluation to review individual goals, track progress and impact, via data and analysis of outcomes to assess effectiveness and areas for improvement.

• To record service activity using the electronic data management systems to collate in preparation for reporting and learning opportunities.

• To gather output and outcome data from the Banter Project service in accordance with the quality assurance systems within AUK. 

• Work with other staff members to deliver a high-quality project for our adopted young people and their adoptive parents.  Work as part of a team to contribute to a positive work environment and shared goals. 

• To attend internal and external training/meetings as appropriate, to remain connected with broader adoption issues, relevant policies, working practices, and network with other youth work providers in Northern Ireland.

• To engage in supervision and professional development.

As a Navigator you are the first point of contact into the Recovery and Wellbeing pathway in the service. Our Navigators signpost people to services within the borough that are tailored to their goals, needs and aspirations.

What you’ll do 

• Support individuals with a positive and hopeful approach (using tools such as health coaching, CHIME, motivational interviewing, and Dialog+) to identify and overcome barriers while monitoring progress effectively
• Facilitate initial meetings to help clients identify personal goals aligned with their aspirations and recovery journeys
• Assist clients in identifying their support networks and strengths to foster resilience and empowerment
• Regularly follow up on progress, providing encouragement and practical support to overcome challenges and achieve goals.

Age UK Croydon have an established befriending service providing one-to-one befriending for older people in their home. We are now launching a new and exciting Gift of Friendship (GoF) Programme to run alongside this existing face to face and telephone befriending service

The GoF programme will offer a new additional person-centred companionship service where volunteers and older people are matched to reduce loneliness and isolation together.  The service is person centred and dependent on the goals of the individual which could include, going for a walk, going shopping, attending activities or helping an older person to build or regain confidence in going out and about and developing more social connections. 

We are looking for excellent people skills, a strong initiative, and effective communications, including an ability to build relationships with clients and volunteers, and undertake matching in an astute and sensitive manner. You will also need excellent administration skills with high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.

Based in an NHS Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) setting, you’ll manage a caseload and deliver tailored one-to-one interventions, including assessments, SMART action plans, job search support, and interview preparation.
