JOB DESCRIPTION
Working to specific income targets, the Supporter Engagement Manager is responsible for acquisition campaigns including regular giving, direct mail appeals, online fundraising, legacies; retention campaigns including ongoing stewardship to increase supporter engagement. You will grow relationships with supporters and work closely with wider fundraising team to devise and execute creative and effective stewardship journeys. You will have a sound understanding of fundraising membership schemes and sector regulations, with knowledge of best practice CRM and/or fundraising database.
The Supporter Engagement Manager will work with the Senior Head of Supporter Engagement to develop the strategy for increasing income across all individual giving streams and then work with the Marketing and Communications Manager and the wider team to implement it. You will play an instrumental part in creatively engaging supporters to get involved in our high-value campaigns, events and regular giving programme. This includes our annual matched-funding campaign and reoccurring giving programmes, which last year raised £1m and £150k respectively. The post-holder will be key in taking the Individual Giving programme to the next level, providing proactive engagement opportunities and efficiently work with data to provide timely, targeted, relevant and engaging communications to our various supporters.

Role purpose

The main purpose of this role is to support and assist Facilitators, Advanced Practitioner, Responsible Officers and Service managers in the administration of the Domestic Abuse contracts delivery by co-ordinating project resources such as people and equipment. The post holder will also be responsible for maintaining information systems linked to specific DA contracts.
Key duties and accountabilities
- To undertake a range of administrative duties, including log on cases, tracking and issuing documents to clients.
- Be adept in managing a new client based system.
- Working closely with practitioners to facilitate and schedule service users onto courses or appointments or chasing information.
- Drafting documentation where appropriate under direction from the Service Manager.
- Communicate with referrers, specifically social workers, mental health provoiders.
- Maintaining excellent filing and records of case files to ensure effective recording on attendance and completion of courses.
- Ensure the team has excellent administrative support across all projects.

Role Purpose
- To provide psychosocial assessments and bereavement support interventions to children and young people and/or their significant adults or professionals (as appropriate) who are experiencing moderate levels of psychological distress as a result of a bereavement through the Winston’s Wish On Demand services as required.
- To work with children and young people and/or their significant adults (as appropriate) using a range of supportive methods, approaches and techniques, functioning at level 2 of the NICE psychological framework.
- To provide psychosocial education to children and young people and/or their significant adults (as appropriate) about grief, bereavement and coping skills.
- To carry out comprehensive risk assessments with children and young people, and/or their significant adults (as appropriate), and to liaise with relevant external agencies—including social services, the police, general practitioners, and parents or carers—following the safeguarding policy.
- To conduct referral callbacks on a regular weekly basis, applying clinical judgement to ensure that each child or young person is supported in accessing the most appropriate services for their individual needs at that time.

Role Purpose Statement
The Senior Officer, Active Fellows plays a key role in delivering high-quality support to Cara Fellows. This includes leading casework, coordinating Cara’s mentoring scheme to support Fellows’ placements, and contributing to strategic improvements across the Fellowship Programme. The role combines direct support to Fellows, operational oversight and delivery of casework, and collaborative leadership to support Cara to uphold its mission.
Organisational Background
The Council for At-Risk Academics is a UK-registered charity founded in 1933 under the leadership of William Beveridge, to rescue academics suffering persecution under the rise of Nazism and facilitate their continued work in safety. Sixteen Cara Fellows from the 1930s and 1940s became Nobel Laureates, and many more innovators in their fields, including, Nikolaus Pevsner, Lise Meitner and Karl Popper. A number of Cara’s founders and Council members also personally provided places and/or funds to help individual academics; and Cara, known in the 1930s as the AAC, later the SPSL, was closely involved in the successful effort in 1933 to bring to London the Warburg Institute art library, which had been prohibited by the Nazis, and six of its staff. The Fellowship Programme is the continuation of the rescue mission operation started in 1933.
Cara has been a lifeline to academics at risk for over 90 years, as and when world events have placed them in the line of fire: Hungarian Uprising, Cold War, Apartheid South Africa, Iran, Latin American Juntas, Vietnam, Kosovo, DRC, Rwanda, Sudan, Zimbabwe etc. and, more recently Iraq, Turkey, Yemen, Palestine, Syria, Afghanistan and Ukraine. Cara support is typically framed as temporary sanctuary offered at times of heightened risk.
Cara Objectives ‘To assist academics who have been, or are, or are at risk of being, subject to discrimination, persecution, suffering or violence on account of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group, or political opinion, to relieve needs among them and their dependants and ensure that their specialist knowledge and abilities can continue to be used for the benefit of the public.’

This is a critical time to join our dedicated and friendly Fellowship Programme team as we expand our capacity to support at-risk academics from the Middle East, Sudan, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Ukraine and Russia and many other countries.
Key Responsibilities
Fellowships
Casework
· Manage a caseload of up to 50 Cara Fellows, providing tailored support.
· Maintain accurate and GDPR-compliant records of casework activity.
· Liaise with Fellows to coordinate support and escalate complex cases to the Team Leader as required.
· Monitor, research and update visa guidance to reflect changes in complex immigration regulation.
· Keep up to date with relevant information regarding immigration laws, e.g. visas, legal procedures, etc.
· Liaise with independent legal advisors where necessary.
Finance
· Work with colleagues in finance to ensure accurate and timely payments to Cara Fellows and non-Fellowship related payments.
· Promptly issue relevant invoices.

Support Mechanisms
Mentoring Scheme
· Project Lead for the Cara Mentoring Scheme.

Through our trusted relationships with schools we distributed 10,000 warm, high-quality coats worth £600,000 to the children who needed them most. Winning the Business Charity Awards ‘Fashion & Retail’ Award, and shortlisted for two further awards, the campaign has been praised not just for providing warmth, but for restoring dignity, inclusion, and school readiness to thousands of children.
The All Dressed Up campaign—developed with World Book Day and Rubies Masquerade—confronted the often-overlooked issue of financial exclusion on key celebration days. More than 100,000 free dressing up costumes worth £1.34 million were delivered to children from low-income families. By enabling participation in events like World Book Day, we helped spark imagination, joy, and belonging for children who might otherwise feel left out—boosting self-esteem and supporting a positive connection to learning.Furthermore, helping attract children into school on a day which often sees struggling parents keep their children at home.
Alongside these national campaigns, Parentkind supports families year-round through a growing suite of programmes designed to inform, prepare and empower parents. Our Be School Ready programme offers crucial guidance and confidence to parents preparing their children for the leap into primary education. With a mix of practical advice, developmental tips, and reassurance, through the distribution of 150,000 copies of Be School Ready and an online campaign, it supports families at one of the most formative moments in their child’s life.
We also deliver a wide-ranging series of live expert webinars and parent-friendly resources, covering topics such as managing anxiety, supporting special educational needs, navigating school transitions, and building home-school partnerships. Our direct support of schools
Our collaboration with Asda on Cashpot for Schools is another example of unlocking support at scale. This innovative community-led funding model allowed shoppers to nominate and fund their local schools simply through everyday spending. This campaign has generated £5.78 million for schools during the past twelve months, supporting everything from basic classroom supplies to vital extracurricular programmes and pupil wellbeing initiatives. Also shortlisted for a Business Charity Award, it is already a model for community-driven philanthropy.
In April, we launched our Parent-Friendly Schools Accreditation Programme, designed to formally recognise schools that go above and beyond in fostering positive, inclusive relationships with parents. The accreditation celebrates schools that actively listen to parent voices, make engagement easy and accessible, and embed family partnership in their culture. Main purpose and scope of this role:
With guidance from the Head of Corporate Partnerships, you will identify, secure, and manage new corporate partnerships to fund Parentkind's mission.

Financial Leadership
Provide executive-level oversight of financial planning, budgeting, reporting, analysis and reporting.

Grant Making and Partnerships
Lead strategic oversight of JPF’s small grants programmes (>£5m pa to over 1500 schools and youth
organisations) as well as our 16 partnership programmes (>£4m pa) and paid youth sector internship
programme.
Identify and develop innovative partnership models that align with the Foundation’s mission, vision,
values and theory of change.
Lead the management and implementation of JPF’s c£2m new legacy grants programme.
Ensure grant-making processes are efficient, from application to evaluation.
Build and maintain strong relationships with delivery partners, funders and with the sector.
People and Culture
Lead, manage, and support staff across the Grants, Partnerships and Operations functions, fostering a
high-performing, inclusive and collaborative team culture.
Foster staff wellbeing and bring excellent judgement and good humour to your work.
Champion continuous improvement, learning and data-driven decision-making.
Work to embed youth-centred approaches, safeguarding, equity and inclusion across the organisation.
Organisational Leadership
Actively contribute to strategic planning and organisational leadership as a member of the Executive
Team.
Represent the Foundation at events and engagements and act as an ambassador.
Undertake other duties in line with the role as organisational needs evolve.

To be The Passage’s dedicated supporter-facing representative, delivering exceptional customer service to donors and prospective supporters. You will play a key role in achieving income growth and supporter retention targets by building strong, lasting relationships and continuously improving systems and processes.
As Supporter Engagement Officer, you’ll handle everything from responding to supporter queries and making thank you phone calls, to accepting donations and producing reports. Your warmth and energy will ensure the highest standard of supporter care, leaving every supporter feeling appreciated and inspired.
You will be an essential member of the fundraising team, ensuring donations are processed accurately and supporters are acknowledged in a timely and meaningful way, so they feel the value and impact of their contribution. In the new year, you will also play a pivotal role in the development and implementation of our new Supporter Experience Strategy, helping shape how we connect with and care for our supporters. This role sits within the newly formed Supporter Engagement Team, part of the wider fundraising function at The Passage.
