The Head of Finance will lead on budgeting, financial management and reporting and work closely with the Chief Executive to provide effective financial direction to the Treasurer and the Board of Trustees.

You will provide financial leadership overseeing all aspects of the organisation’s finances and in ensuring that it complies with relevant legislation and principles. You will be responsible for efficient policies, procedures, systems and practices to support the smooth running of the organisation and will be proactive in developing new systems and processes to meet the needs of the British Deaf Association (BDA) as it grows. As Head of Finance, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing the financial planning cycles, governance, and management reporting process as well as managing relationships with external stakeholders/advisers ensuring value for money, contractual compliance, evaluation and quality assurance processes.

With prior experience of working with charities’ accounts as well as experience of Sage accounting system used at the BDA, you will manage the Finance team and provide excellent business service and support to circa 28 staff across the UK.

As a bilingual organisation with a working language of British Sign Language (BSL) and English, we will provide BSL training for the successful candidate.

Key Duties:

• To be the first point of contact for the existing network of Digital Champions in the borough, and support organisations to recruit, onboard and manage new Digital Champions.
• To directly manage a pool of Digital Champions under BVSC and lead on recruitment, onboarding, and training.
• To organise regular online and face-to-face meetings for Digital Champions.
• To develop and implement a communications plan that raises awareness of the Digital Champions Network in Bexley and of the challenges and opportunities digital inclusion presents.
• To explore new opportunities with partners and the sector more broadly in a way that aims to expand the digital champions project and create a more digitally inclusive culture for Bexley residents.
• To organise regular events, training and information sessions for Digital Champions based on needs.

• Lead on the delivery of all aspects of the Patron programme, in particular stewardship of Patrons and supporting the Head of Development in a strategic review of the programme.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to grow visitor giving, taking a multi-channel and innovative approach.
• Proactively manage a personal portfolio of prospects and donors to secure mid- and major-level gifts from Individuals, ensuring that tailored moves management strategies are employed to meaningfully move relationships towards solicitation.

The Development Manager (Trust and Foundations) will manage the strategic development of Trusts and Foundations fundraising, identifying opportunities to drive growth in this area. The post-holder will oversee income generation from grant-making organisations and ensure timely reporting to funders.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate the following essential requirements:

• Drive growth of Trusts and Foundations income especially at the five- and six-figure level, with a particular view to supporting unrestricted income and major projects in the organisation’s pipeline.
• Proactively manage a personal portfolio of Trusts and Foundations, regularly meeting and engaging with prospective funders to pitch proposals and check-in around expectations. 
• Liaise with key internal stakeholders to develop accurate, compelling funding applications in line with deadlines set by funders. 
• Build lasting relationships with funders in order to establish opportunities for multi-year income generation.
• Drive the Trusts and Foundations prospecting process and increase the range of prospects approached for support, utilising prospect research tools and securing introductions from our network. 

Fundraising Development Manager

Fixed-Term, (Maternity Cover) Part-Time, Term-Time only

15 hours per week (flexible)

Pay Scale : H8, point 23 to H9, point 28  (dependent on experience)

We are seeking a knowledgeable individual to oversee the Fundraising Development Manager position for a fixed-term, covering maternity leave. The successful applicant will have some professional experience of fundraising and/or education development, together with experience of developing good working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

The ESU was founded as a membership organisation, bringing together those who share a belief that better communication makes for better global understanding. Today, we have members across England and Wales who meet to socialise, gain new perspectives on the world and to help organise and raise funds for our educational work. We are seeking an organised, proactive and diligent Membership and Engagement Coordinator to lead on the administrative support for our members and the wider Engagement team. The post holder will be responsible for providing a seamless experience for members wanting to join the ESU or for those renewing their membership. The Membership and Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for developing relationships with members and branch chairs, finding ways to involve members in the work of the ESU and maintaining oversight of the organisation’s CRM. The post holder will also help support the ESU’s events and international work.

Responsibilities:

· Support the Membership Manager to implement a new recruitment strategy to grow ESU membership in agreed target audiences

· Work with the Membership Manager to ensure a straightforward renewals process, this includes sending email and postal renewal communications, updating lapsed memberships and taking credit and debit card payments.

· Ensure membership records on the CRM are accurate and up-to-date.

· Assemble and dispatch Welcome Packs to new members.

· Act as the first point of contact for current and prospective members and assist with their queries.

· Assist with the production of monthly membership statistics and reports.

· Ensure the ESU has robust and clearly documented membership processes and make suggestions to enhance and resolve issues that arise.

· Maintain records of international ESUs and support the Director of Global Engagement with sending communications to this group.

· Liaise with branch chairs to support their requirements and provide details on membership statuses for their branch members.

Essential:

· An understanding of the nature and importance of the ESU’s charitable work within educational and wider contexts and a strong commitment to increasing the impact of the organisation’s work

· Highly organised, with an ability to ensure deadlines and targets are met

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Ability to ensure a high level of accuracy when adding and amending database records

· A pro-active and positive attitude to problem resolution

· An ability to engage with multiple stakeholders at all levels

· IT literate with strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel

Desirable:

· Previous experiencing using CRM systems

· Experience of supporting events
