Job description

Website Content Officer, 6 Month Contract, an excellent opportunity to join a leading Cancer Research Charity, with Head Office based in central London.

  • Remote/Hybrid: Open to all UK locations, with the ability to attend London Head Office up to 1 x a month.
  • Salary: £30,000 - £32,000 per annum
  • Intended start date: 16th September for a 6-month period.

It’s an exciting time to join the Digital Team as they embark on redesigning sections of their website. They are now looking for a skilled and proactive Website Content Officer, for a 6 month period, to help and support with these changes.

As a Website Content Officer, working with the Digital Team Lead, you will be pivotal in creating and optimising user-centred content that informs and supports service users and be instrumental in developing content for the exciting new sections of the redesigned website.

You will produce, edit, and publish content onto the website, that is accurate, engaging, and impactful. You will be confident working with a content management system (CMS) and have a good understanding of search engine optimisation (SEO) and accessibility principles. In addition, you'll collaborate closely with Content Designer’s and teams across the organisation to ensure content is engaging, accessible, and aligned with the charities mission.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Help create, edit, and publish user-focused content on digital platforms.
  • Support the Content Designer to product content for the launch of re-designed sections of the website.
  • Work with the Content Designer to ensure all content is optimised for user experience, accessibility, and SEO.
  • Audit and evaluate content for accuracy, relevance, performance, identifying gaps for improvement.
  • Provide support and guidance to Content Leads, assist with content audits, CMS queries, and quality controlling the content output of Content Leads.
  • Leverage insights from Digital Insight Analysts and the User Experience team to optimise content, improving engagement and user satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to plan, update, and maintain the homepage.
  • Make all content accessible and inclusive, meeting needs of diverse audiences, including those with disabilities. 

As the Website Content Officer, who is skilled and proactive to support the Digital Team, you will have prior skills, knowledge and experience of:

  • Working within the charity sector in a similar content role, with experience of website content creation and publishing for, with a focus on producing clear, user- friendly content.
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) for updating and managing digital content.
  • Understanding of search engine optimisation (SEO) principles and content design best practices, including readability and accessibility.
  • Ability to conduct content audits to improve content quality and performance.
  • Analytical skills to interpret data and inform content improvements.
  • Understanding of personal data under the principles of GDPR
