Responsibilities

Training and Development of Puppies

• Take responsibility for a group of puppies allocated to socialisers living in your geographical area.
• Provide training that meets the charity’s quality standards and in accordance with timescales and targets.
• To deliver effective training by holding puppy classes, 121’s and home visits with socialisers in your geographical area.
• To prepare the puppy to be a Medical Alert Assistance Dog, using positive reinforcement techniques to teach desired behaviours and modify unwanted behaviours.
• Regularly monitor progress of the puppies in your area and provide detailed, evidenced feedback to the senior team within Dog Supply and training.
• Support and assist with the potential matches for a particular assistance dog partnership and in consultation with the Assistance Dog Training Coordinator, provide any client specific training needed prior to the match.
• Conduct regular training sessions with assistance dogs in training in various environments to ensure they are confident and responsive in real-world settings.

 Socialiser Support

• Be the first point of contact for the socialisers in your area, which will include guidance, support and instruction to socialisers on effective work and training with their assistance dogs.
• Provide general health care advice within your core working hours.

Socialiser Recruitment

• Assist in the recruitment of new volunteer socialisers.
• Carry out home checks to assess prospective new socialisers.

Other

• Update the Harlequin CRM database in a timely fashion to ensure accurate and up to date training, veterinary and health records.
• Support the charity’s fundraising, communications and volunteering teams as required, specifically in relation to your area.
• From time to time you may be required to have a dog live with you for additional training for a set period.
• Share best practice with colleagues across the charity.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

We are looking for someone with the skills, experience and passion to join our team of trainers responsible for organising and monitoring the progress of our puppies and young dogs to ensure they receive the highest standard of socialisation and early training, thereby maximising their chances of becoming a Medical Detection Dog.

• Experience in training Assistance Dogs.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in dog training
• Basic theory of practical dog training.
• Law in relation to dogs.
• Knowledge of medical conditions relevant to puppies between 8 weeks and 2 years of age.
• Dog and human psychology.
• Health and safety implications of dog and socialiser handling.
• Experience and understanding of ADUK and ADI regulations.

 SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Ability to demonstrate high quality judgement and a proven track record in relation to the following:
• Dog training matters including the analysis of temperaments, appropriate training methods and requirements necessary to maintain public perception in assistance dogs.
• Solutions to training and behavioural problems.
• Socialiser training including the ability to assess each person’s preferred learning style and adapt as appropriate your training approach, the specific programmes to be followed,
• Strong and clear teaching and instructing skills.
• Ability to plan work, be organised and ensure that time is utilised effectively for yourself, colleagues and socialisers.

Fundraising Assistant

Horatio’s Garden charity is looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual, with flair for communicating through the written word, to support our Trusts & Foundations fundraising. This is a fantastic role for a graduate or someone looking to start a career in the charitable sector. You will be given ongoing support, training and mentoring throughout the job. 

Horatio’s Garden is a growing, award winning, national charity improving the lives of people with spinal injuries by creating and nurturing outstanding garden projects in NHS spinal injury centres.

Trusts & Foundations is our largest income stream and we are looking to increase capacity in the team during a growth period for the charity.You will support our experienced Trusts & Foundations team to help meet, and exceed, our income targets and to provide fantastic support to our donors.You will also have the opportunity to spend half a day a week in our Salisbury garden assisting the Head Gardener and spending time with beneficiaries.

Main duties: 

1. Identify and research grant giving trusts and foundations to whom Horatio’s Garden is eligible to submit applications for funding. 
2. Proactively approach relevant trusts and foundations, where possible, to discuss potential applications before submission. 
3. Prepare and submit high quality applications for funding for a range of Horatio’s Garden projects.
4. Prepare and submit high quality, timely progress reports to grant givers, contributing to longer term relationship development with funders. 
5. Maintain the Trusts and Foundations pipeline to maximise supporter retention and income generation.
6. Identify and deliver opportunities to engage grant givers with Horatio’s Garden, through events and garden tours, to increase supporter engagement. 
7. Support the whole fundraising team with tasks where required.

General

1. Work with the gardens, arts programme and finance teams at Horatio’s Garden to understand the need for funding and the impact of Horatio’s Garden to maintain profitable relationships with supporters.

2. Ensure all contact and communications with supporters is recorded on our CRM database and on pipelines to enable continuity with supporters across the team.

3. Keep up to date with trends and developments in fundraising to identify opportunities for Horatio’s Garden to increase sustainable income.

About the role 

This vacancy is for a University Access Officer to work in one or two schools in London; exact school location(s) to be confirmed at interview. Our schools are shown on a mapThe Access Project schools on our website.

The University Access Officer works with school staff at all levels, volunteer tutors, and with the rest of The Access Project’s team to ensure that the delivery of the programme is optimised. 

Role responsibilities 

• Engage with students in school and enrol them onto the programme 
• Match students with volunteer tutors 
• Monitor student attendance to tutorials and devise innovative solutions to encourage attendance 
• Assess student progress towards being able to make successful university applications 
• Upload information onto the Salesforce database (training is provided) 
• Monitor the impact of tutorials, and intervene as appropriate 
• Build and manage relationships with volunteer tutors to ensure they have a positive experience of the programme

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Support Worker to join our team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of families affected by domestic/sexual abuse. The ideal candidate will be committed to providing holistic support to mothers, children, and young people (CYP) during their time in refuge and as they transition into the community.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Developing and Delivering Services:

   • Provide personalised 1:1 family support services to families residing in the refuge, addressing the impact of domestic/sexual abuse on the family unit.
   • Collaborate in planning and delivering activities tailored to parents and CYP, including educational, leisure, and therapeutic services.
   • Facilitate the strengthening of parent-child relationships and empower families to enhance their resilience.

South London Citizens 

South London Citizens is a thriving chapter with a growing team of ~18 organisers and project staff. Purpose 

We are looking for two Associate Organisers to join our thriving and dynamic team in South London building the power of local communities. These roles will support local organising, and have a specific focus on health and living wage organising.

A central focus of an Associate Organiser is their own development: learning the craft of Community Organising under the guidance of an experienced Community Organiser. An Associate Organiser is working towards becoming a competent practitioner of the craft of broad-based community organising methodology, and focuses on the building of relational power, the recruitment and retention of dues-paying institutions, the development of leaders, the strengthening of member institutions, leader-led public actions, and the winning of systemic change. Your learning and development will be paramount in the first few months as the responsibilities given to your experience and skills develop.

Main Responsibilities 

Working as an Associate Organiser in South London for Citizens UK your main responsibilities will be to:

Grow and deliver on the priorities of South London Listens and our broader Health organising 

• Build and support new Be Well Hubs in a range of institutions in your allocated boroughs. Including identifying new institutions, delivering training, and supporting them once they are established.

• Work with other organisers to deliver on the priorities identified by communities that are part of the South London Listens project

• Ensure reporting and capturing of stories of the South London Listens project are captured and shared to celebrate and grow the project.

At least one of the roles includes supporting our organising efforts for more just work and wages 

• Identify and develop worker leaders

• Take action with South London Citizens leaders to increase the number of living wage and living hours employers in London 

• Develop and deliver community organising training for worker leaders 

Build relational power to further the goals of CUK 

• Actively participate in the development of a comprehensive power analysis appropriate to the desired sphere of influence for each project/assignment

• Establish working relationships with identified leaders and demonstrate ability to move them into action, including as part of the wider alliance; taking the initiative to establish new relationships as required

• Conduct one-to-ones to develop relationships with leaders and understand their concerns.

• Tell a wide range of Community Organising stories effectively to influence others and achieve CUK’s goals

Identify and develop relational leaders prepared to act with others for the common good

• Support pre-existing core teams and create/develop new core teams to provide leadership at local level and in South London Listens

Support leaders through the Cycle of Action in order to create change  

• Support member institutions and Be Well Hubs in running listening campaigns

• Organise neighbourhood actions; demonstrating increasing independence in working without the need for close supervision

• Take the lead in supporting groups of leaders through the cycle of action on neighbourhood issues; aiming to achieve neighbourhood and health wins

Contribute to CUK’s financial viability through effective fundraising & financial management  

• Contribute to fundraising to the value of at least £20,000 per annum through one or some of the following: 

• WWritinge regular updates on the work to be shared with the funders and maintain a healthy relationship with them

• Recruit new dues paying institutions; work together with a more senior Organiser to negotiate annual membership fees and letters of understanding

• Liaise with the Finance & Operations team to update the membership database and ensure timely invoicing and fee collection

Based in our Welcome Area, this role is central to our Community Support provision, where the post-holder will be our community's first point of contact, responsible for greeting service users and supporting them with general enquiries and referrals. 

They will be expected to register and monitor users in our database, organise appointments, and manage our various communication channels, such as emails, helpline, and IRMO broadcast lists. Supported by a team of volunteers, they will manage community enquiries, ensuring IRMO is always a welcoming environment for the community. They will collaborate closely with other operational areas to ensure service users receive relevant, up-to-date information.

The Refugee and Migrant Forum of Essex and London (RAMFEL) is one of the largest immigration and asylum advice charities in the UK, supporting refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants to access justice. An OISC level 3 accredited organisation, we represent clients at all stages of the immigration and asylum process, up to and including the Upper Tribunal of the Immigration and Asylum Chamber.

We also actively campaign for a fairer and more humane immigration system. RAMFEL caseworkers therefore have the opportunity to work on systemic and strategic challenges and support broader advocacy work.

Purpose of the role: 

The purpose of the role is to assist some of the most vulnerable people in our society. The focus of the legal work is on non-legal aid funded matters, supporting people who otherwise have no access to legal advice and support. There will be particular focus on working with people who are facing a crisis, providing legal representation and support that will take them out of destitution.

Specific Responsibilities

Case management

Education/qualifications

• Ideally candidates must be Solicitors with IAAS Level 2 with at least 1-year immigration experience or OISC level 2/3 qualified
• If OISC level 1, the candidate will be expected to initially work under supervision completing level 2 work and qualifying at level 2 within 6 months. (Training is provided and study leave is accommodated.) Upon obtaining a higher level of accreditation, the candidate’s salary will increase in line with RAMFEL pay scales.

You will also play a key part in reducing the risk of re-offending, liaising with external professionals, preventing homelessness and promoting the independence and social inclusion of these clients.

The working rota for this post is Monday - Friday. (no weekend shifts) and a mixture of earlies (8am - 3.30pm) & lates (3pm - 10.30pm)
