This is an exciting opportunity for Advocates to join and shape this service covering Inverclyde. Your role will support individuals with substance use disorders, ensuring they receive high-quality, person-centred care in line with Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT 8) standards. The role involves providing advocacy, support, and guidance to clients, helping them navigate their recovery journey with dignity and respect. Your role will require you to travel to locations such as clients’ homes, hospitals, care homes and within community settings across the area to meet with clients and professionals. We are seeking an individual to raise awareness of the Fund’s welfare offer amongst social welfare agencies across the West Midlands but also, crucially, to help address the issue of social isolation and feelings of loneliness experienced by some members of the RAF Family.

The post holder will be working with socially isolated individuals to identify meaningfully enriching opportunities to reduce feelings of loneliness, some of whom may have complex and challenging welfare needs, to develop actions plans and coordinate support to overcome any barriers preventing successful connection into these enriching opportunities, assisting them by identifying appropriate support from within the RAF Benevolent Fund and the wider statutory and military charity sector.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in a social welfare role supporting individuals, have strong people and relationship-building skills, as well as empathy with or understanding of the issues affecting the Armed Forces community.  Individuals with a social prescribing or working aged veteran support background are encouraged to apply.

Purpose of the role

At NEON we believe that organising is crucial if we’re to build the power we need to win a new economy and deepen cross-community solidarity at a time of political polarisation. A central part of our new strategy - and this role -  is to support movement organisations and organisers to build their capacity to do what we call Transformative Organising - where we transform the conditions we live in, transform ourselves and transform who has power in society. We use a combination of trainings, 1-2-1 mentoring and strategic partnerships with movement organisations to give organisers the tools, skills and confidence they need to build a base with those at the sharp end of the crisis, develop politically conscious leaders, and plan strategic & escalating campaigns that win. You’ll work with our Head of Organising and colleagues in the Movement Building Hub to scale up this offer over the coming years, with a particular focus on the housing, climate and migration movements, as well as supporting movements to tackle a rising far-right. 

What you will be doing

1. Deliver organising trainings to social movement organisers and campaigners, using content from our Transformative Organising programme and working closely with our Head of Organising and NEON trainers. These will be a mix of shorter workshops and multi-day trainings, blending in-person and online delivery, and you will be supported to experiment with different delivery models to meet movement needs. 

2. Work in partnership with organisers, organisations and coalitions to build their organising capacity over the long-term, through ongoing mentoring and hands-on support and training.

3. Conduct extensive 1-2-1s with movement organisers, to strengthen relationships, explore opportunities for collaboration and understand movement needs. 

4. Support the development of a network of UK-based organisers, and create spaces for collective learning and ensure NEON’s organising offer meets the needs of organisers on the ground.

5. Work with the Head of Organising to periodically review and update NEON’s Transformative Organising content, staying responsive to movement needs and incorporating the latest organising practices and tools. 

6. Organise public events on organising topics, including webinars and workshops, bringing together organisers from across social movements

7. Contribute to the Movement Building Hub’s wider work, including the organising components of our Worker-led Transition programme and our work to build the strategic capacity of movement leaders and organisations. This role will also contribute to cross-organisational work in NEON’s key focus areas (migration, housing, climate, and tackling the rise of the far-right), as well as projects to support the development of NEON’s internal culture. 

Who you are

This isn’t a tick box exercise and we don’t expect you to meet all of the criteria - it’s more to give both us and you an overall sense of the role, and how the skills and experience you have might map onto it. 

We’re looking for someone with a: 

1. Proven track record of using organising tools and approaches to plan and deliver successful campaigns, with at least 3-5 years of experience. Peabody is launching a brand-new supported housing service in Lambeth for young adults aged 19 to 25 who need tailored, trauma-informed support to rebuild their lives. We're recruiting multiple Housing Support Workers to join us at the very start of this journey.

About the service
This new service will offer a safe, stable, and supportive environment for young people facing homelessness, many of whom may have mental health challenges, substance misuse issues, or experience of the care or criminal justice system. You’ll be part of a team delivering intensive, person-centred support that helps them build resilience, learn life skills, and take steps toward independent living.

What you’ll be doing

• Managing a small caseload of young people, meeting regularly to review progress and goals
• Developing support plans and risk assessments tailored to individual needs
• Supporting with housing applications, budgeting, benefits, and life skills
• Signposting to mental health, substance misuse, and safeguarding services
• Building trusted relationships while maintaining professional boundaries
• Ensuring accurate record-keeping using Microsoft Office and case management systems

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for passionate, reliable, and empathetic individuals with:

• Experience supporting young people aged 19–25 in supported housing, education, youth work or care
• Understanding of homelessness and housing legislation

• Confidence signposting to specialist services (e.g., mental health, substance misuse, exploitation)
• Excellent communication and IT skills, with strong attention to detail

About the role:

This role offers help and support directly to victims and survivors of sexual violence, working to the national ISVA framework to provide support throughout victims criminal justice journey, or if they haven't reported the incident to the police, on their own recovery journey.

The role involves regular travel across Lancashire, and supporting victims and survivors directly at criminal justice hearings. This role involves regular travel and due to the location, a driving license and access to a vehicle is considered an essential requirement. If you are unable to drive because of a disability please indicate this in your application in your personal statement so we can explore the feasibility of alternative arrangements.

You will ensure victims and survivors receive ongoing continuity of support, advocacy and impartial advice and information including reporting to the police, accessing Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) services, and specialist support such as pre-trial therapy and sexual violence counselling. They will need strong digital literacy skills and be comfortable presenting information to groups, usually via Zoom.
