About you
You don’t need experience of support work or any special qualifications for this job - you’ll get plenty of training along the way. Having the right values, a positive attitude to life and a desire to support people to live their life with as much independence, choice, dignity and control as possible is what matters most. You will need to have good listening skills and a practical, caring approach. You also need to have basic level IT skills to be able to use a computer as you will regularly need to record information about people you will be supporting.
We are currently restricting face-to-face training; therefore most of your training courses, including some aspects of your induction, will be online. But you will still be able learn from your colleagues in a supportive hands-on environment.

The Community Engagement Worker role:
We are seeking a passionate and motivated individual to promote and oversee the successful delivery of Depaul’s Drop-In and Emotional Resilience work based predominantly in Middlesbrough. You will be working with vulnerable people, predominantly those affected by issues of homelessness and with multiple and complex needs.
The focus of this role is to create and sustain the successful delivery of drop-in activities/workshops for homeless and vulnerable people with the support of stakeholders, volunteers and Depaul’s clients.
The official job title for this post is Positive Pathways Coordinator.

This ambitious and exciting three year post aims to raise awareness of men’s mental health problems in Somerset. It will also create spaces for men to talk about their own mental health and support each other.
With a focus on suicide prevention this new role will empower and support individuals and organisations, reflecting the principles of asset-based community development. It will collaborate with communities, groups and organisations to highlight men’s mental health, identify gaps in support and come up with innovative ideas about how to connect people and improve services for men.
This role will include developing what’s already available in Somerset, bringing people together creatively through online community events and raising awareness of men’s mental health generally and suicide prevention in particular. The role will be part of the new and innovative Open Mental Health alliance of voluntary sector organisations and the NHS across Somerset.
About You
We are looking for an experienced male community development worker, with experience of working with people with mental health and complex needs.
You will also need to be a confident communicator and facilitator, who thrives in a collaborative environment and is able to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
