Two Rhythms is seeking a dynamic Business Manager to spearhead their operational and financial success, ensuring the charity's sustainability and growth. This pivotal role involves driving earned income, managing financial health, and expanding the reach of their therapeutic arts programs across South Wales and the UK.
The Business Manager will oversee the operational and financial management of the charity, ensuring the organisation is efficient, sustainable, and aligned with its mission. They will focus on earned income generation and working to increase it in line with the business plan. They will be outward-facing, generating new business with local authorities, care providers, schools, hospitals and hospices. They will work closely with the CEO, and Head of Programme to introduce the 2R programme to new guests across South Wales, and with the Membership Officer to extend our membership programme across the UK.
The Business Manager will play a crucial role in managing the charity's financial health, ensuring resources are effectively utilised to support its mission and goals. This hands-on role involves overseeing financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and compliance while supporting their leadership team colleagues with financial insights and strategies.
They will prepare reports for the management team, CEO and Trustees as required and they will liaise with our external accountants, helping to prepare annual accounts and other statutory documents.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
OPERATIONAL
1. Business and Operational Management:
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness across departments.
- Design and implement new processes to monitor trading performance.
- To act a responsible point of contact for managing day-to-day facilities and building issues.
- Management of external contracts relating to facilities and running of the organisation.
- Review environmental considerations of the organisation in-line with the requirements and policies of our funders, landlords and partner organisations.
- Support the administration of session bookings, liaising with finance and management colleagues.
2. Compliance and Governance:
- Working as part of the charity’s Safeguarding team helping to ensure best practice across the charity’s activities and operations. (Appropriate training will be provided)
- Ensure the charity complies with relevant financial regulations and reporting requirements.
- Manage risk and protect the charity’s financial reputation and assets.
- Maintain accurate records and policies, working closely with trustees or board members.
FINANCE
3. Financial Management and Planning:
- Prepare and manage budgets in collaboration with the leadership team.
- Monitor and control income and expenditure to ensure financial sustainability.
- Develop financial forecasts and plans to support strategic decision-making.
- Manage invoicing, liaising with external clients and contractors with respect to debt management, reviewing and improving booking processes where necessary.
4. Accounting and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate financial records and oversee day-to-day bookkeeping.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including variance analysis.
- Produce annual financial statements and manage the year-end accounting process.
5. Donor and Grant Management:
- Track restricted and unrestricted funding, ensuring proper allocation and reporting.
- Provide financial reports and updates for donors and grant applications.
PEOPLE
6. Supporting Stakeholders:
- Work closely with trustees and the senior leadership team, providing clear insights.
- Contribute to the charity's overall strategic planning and growth.
- Attend board meetings, ensuring accurate minutes and record keeping.
7. Leadership and Team Support:
- Work closely with Senior Management colleagues to provide strategic advice and insights.
- Manage and support staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Lead by example, promoting the charity’s values and mission in all actions.
COMMERCIAL ACTIVITY
- Work with the team to drive sales, pursue new clients and increase the charity’s earned income, collaborating with Programme, Membership and Marketing colleagues and the CEO to further the charity’s work.
- Lead on our engagement with the health and social care sector, including private and public organisations.
- Assist the CEO in submitting reports to funders, regulatory bodies, and trustees.
- Support the development of funding proposals with accurate financial input.
- Assist the CEO in building relationships with external partners and stakeholders, including corporate and commercial clients.

We are seeking an experienced, driven and passionate Head of Public Fundraising to lead the mass fundraising team to achieve sustainable income growth over the coming years. We are looking for someone with energy and ambition, who can demonstrate strategic leadership to maximise fundraising opportunities across Community, Challenge Events, Regular Giving, Legacy and In Memory audiences, to grow our supporter networks and optimise supporter engagement and experience. Leukaemia UK and You
We have recently invested in growing our fundraising team so that we can fund more life-changing research to increase our understanding of leukemia as a disease, and accelerate the development of kinder, more effective treatments. This includes investment to grow the public fundraising team, develop new fundraising products, recruit new supporters, and increase legacy giving through targeted campaigns.
We are also in the process of developing our new 5-year fundraising strategy, so you will be instrumental in creating an ambitious new plan to develop a diverse and sustainable mass fundraising portfolio, covering the key areas of donor acquisition, retention, and growth, with a focus on maximising our Challenge and Community events portfolio, and increasing Legacy, In Memory and Regular giving. You will be responsible for developing and delivering a portfolio of products to grow voluntary income, whilst leading a newly expanded and ambitious team. And you will help shape our data strategy, working with the Head of Digital and other colleagues across the organisation to develop our digital fundraising strategy; embed usage of our CRM and ensure GDPR compliance.
You will be results-driven with an appetite to innovate and drive continuous improvement, leading to increased conversions, deepened relationships, and long-term support.
Requirements - Skills and Experience
- Demonstrable experience of strategic leadership and oversight of a mass fundraising product portfolio.
- Proven experience of managing an engaging Community and Challenge Events fundraising portfolio.
- Proven experience of driving Legacy and In Memory giving to create a robust long-term pipeline. Experience of successfully developing and implementing legacy marketing strategies.
- Proven experience of applying the principles and techniques of Individual Giving / Direct Marketing within a multichannel, multi-discipline environment to deliver significant returns and supporter satisfaction, especially through supporter recruitment channels.
- Experience of fully integrating a CRM database as a tool in the day-to-day work and running of a charity.
- Demonstrable experience of managing a high performing team, focussing on creating a culture where people thrive as individuals and can be their best selves.
- Experience of managing multi-channel media campaigns by utilising print and digital channels including social media and email.
- Good experience of building effective relationships with internal and external partners, including creative freelancers, media and direct marketing agencies.
- Experience of working with, negotiating with, and managing outputs of external agencies and internal departments, including contractual obligations.
- Strong project-management experience, including managing budgets, schedules, creative development, and supplier relationships for fundraising direct marketing campaigns.
- Experience of setting and managing annual budgets, monitoring, and reconciling results and financial performance in income and expenditure. Providing associated narratives and monthly reforecasts.
- Proven experience of driving effective stewardship programmes to maximising supporter experience.
Requirements - Knowledge
- Excellent specialist knowledge of the principals and methods of Public Fundraising, including Challenge Events, Community, Legacy, In Memory and Individual Giving.
- Understanding of the effective development and use of supporter contact strategies, turning analysis and insight into high performance activity.
- Up-to-date knowledge of current digital fundraising trends, including social media marketing.
- High Level knowledge of Salesforce CRM databases and how best to utilise to steward supporters.
- Knowledge and experience of marketing processes and techniques across varied channels.
- High Level knowledge of legacy administration.
- High Level knowledge and understanding of charity law in relation to legacy fundraising, GDPR, PECR, data protection and other relevant fundraising regulation.
Role specifics & Benefits
- Hours: Full time hours are 37.5 Monday to Friday
- Location: We are very flexible! Our hybrid working policy is a minimum of two days per month in our London office unless it’s a role requirement to be in more frequently. Typically, we would expect the role holder to be in the office once a week, and certain roles within the team have this as a minimum requirement.

The Fellowship was created by public subscription in 1965 as the living legacy of Sir Winston Churchill. Purpose of the role:
The purpose of this role is to build on our programme of strategic engagement with our key audiences, in order to build our presence, influence and networks in a wide range of UK sectors and topical issues. This includes leading the design and delivery of some of our focused programmes in which we award Fellowships and supporting the Fellows awarded into these programmes to help them increase their UK impact once they’ve done their overseas learning. This role is responsible for delivering all engagement activity across our Arts and culture, Community and citizenship, Environment and resources and Governance and public provision universal themes.
Key responsibilities:
Programme Development and Delivery
- With oversight from the Engagement Director, and working with members of the Advisory Council to develop the focus and goals of a three-year Fellowship programme within our Governance and Public Provision universal theme through a process of desk-based research and consultation workshops
- Working with the Head of Comms to design and plan the launch of the new programme to applicants
- Working with the Head of Fellowship to design a support package for applicants into the programme
- With oversight from the Engagement Director, creating and facilitating a Working Group of Fellows, partners and Council members to support the cohort of Fellows awarded within this programme. And working with the other Research and Engagement Manager to develop and enhance our approach to stewarding these Working Groups including ones already in place for our other programmes.
- Supporting the Engagement Director in the recruitment and stewardship of Knowledge Partners for this programme and other programmes under your four thematic sectors
- Working with members of our Advisory Council to review our two environment related programmes with a view to revising them or developing them further.
- Reviewing the progress of each programme under your remit with the relevant Advisory Council members and the Working Group at the end of the applications cycle and before the programme reopens for applications
Sector Relations & Networking
- Researching target audiences, stakeholders, partners and allies, in the four thematic sectors you oversee. Building relationships and maintaining our database of these.
- Developing and managing a systematic programme of engagement with these audiences, through communications and activities including talks, briefings, events, newsletters, publications and other opportunities.
- Systematic promotion of Fellows into these sectors.
Creation of Engagement Content
- Designing and delivering a programme of engagement events for Fellows including webinars and convenings to provide support, knowledge sharing and networking opportunities for the community of Fellows
- Leading on the design and delivery of a programme of wrap-up engagement activity for Fellows in our Rural communities programme
- Leading on the discovery and development phase of a programme of wrap-up engagement activity for Fellows in our Arts and Communities and Children and Young People with experience of care programmes.
- Assisting with the creation of sector content to support the dissemination of Fellows’ learning into their sectors
- Writing engagement materials such as case studies for a wide range of sectors and issues.
- Filtering Fellows’ surveys for case studies and other material.
Post-learning support for the community of Fellows
- Working with partners to deliver training and upskilling support to Fellows to help them increase their UK impact
- Supporting Fellows to distil their learning into ‘reports’ which can be used to disseminate their learning and recommendations
- Ad hoc support to individual Fellows to help them connect with their sectors and each other, and promote their learning and recommendations
- Working with the Engagement team to rethink and pilot new approaches to post overseas learning support for Fellows including grants, events, training, community platforms and more
- Supporting the Engagement Director with the biennial Awards Ceremony for Fellows

- Salary c. £43,000-46,000 per annum (5 days per week / 36.5 hours)

About the role

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, this postholder will work closely with the two HR People Partners. - To lead and manage employee relations activity across the charity by working closely with the key stakeholders.
- To provide guidance and advise senior managers in line with MSSC policies, employment legislation and ACAS Code of Practice regarding complex HR situations.
- To lead and take notes at all MSSC disciplinaries, grievances and formal complaints to support the process. These could include conduct, performance management/capability, absence management. grievances, bullying and harassment, discrimination, whistleblowing etc.

- To provide support to the HR People Partners on broader ER issues, if necessary, such as absence management/OH referrals, performance management/PIPs.
