Associate Director People Experience
We are in the process of developing a new culture change programme and are looking for someone to lead this work and our People Experience Team, for a 12-month maternity cover contract.
Position: Associate Director - People Experience
Location: Homebased
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: Circa £54,000 per annum (Inner London weighting £3,299 per annum or Outer London weighting £1,755 per annum, may be applied in accordance with where you live)
Contract: This is a fixed term maternity cover role for 12 months

The Role
We’re transforming our charity to rebuild more lives after stroke through a new operating model. About You
As Associate Director, you will have a qualification or experience in engagement, internal communication, change or organisational development.
You will have led a sizeable engagement, internal communication or organisational development function, ideally at senior management level and will have expertise in the application of organisational development and cultural change interventions including equality, diversity and inclusion.
Experience of working in the, voluntary, health and care sectors would be desirable.
You must have the right to work in the U.K to fulfil this role.

Director of Services Responsibilities:
The Director of Services will play a strong leadership role within the organisation; responsible for the day-to-day management, safe operation and continuous improvement of their organisation and its front-line services that support people with visual impairment and other disabilities. You will ensure strong reporting, performance management; governance and accountability mechanisms are in place across all front line services.
These services include:
- Day Services, centred around a large, specialist day care centre;
- Community Visual Impairment Services operating across the area;
- Low Vision clinics and specialist support;
- Supported Living services in a 14-unit scheme
You will be able to deputise effectively for the CEO and, as part of the Senior Leadership Team, ensure that Focus has strategic and operational plans that in turn deliver our charitable aims and key objectives: providing high quality services and improving access to support within a sustainable business model.
Director of Services Requirements:
- Experience in a senior leadership/director role in a health or social care setting
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent).
- Experience of leading outstanding regulated services (eg: CQC).
- Understanding of public services and the third sector and are looking to make a genuine impact on the lives of people affected by complex conditions.

Our client is a leading specialist charity providing expert support, advice and information to anyone in the Birmingham area affected by sight loss or other disabilities. They provide a wide range of services including low vision, independent living support, specialist advice, counselling and befriending, day services and supported living. They work closely with partner organisations to ensure that people have the best possible opportunities to live independently, make choices about their lives and improve their physical and emotional health and wellbeing.

In the UK, currently there are around 950,000 young people aged 16-24 who are not in education, employment or training (NEETs). The Trust works with around 55,000 young people across the UK. We support young people through teams of staff, volunteers and delivery partners in three English regions and offices in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Each of the regions and countries has a Director and in the countries they are supported by Country Advisory Councils, which are made up of non-executive volunteers.
This role is responsible for ensuring we maximise our income in compliance with our funding agreements and alerting in a timely manner any issues preventing us from doing so. It is part of the Contract Management Team, which is responsible for maximising our income by working effectively across operations, finance and fundraising in a proactive manner to maximise income, ensure compliance and raise awareness of our performance.
Homebased during Covid restrictions and then this role will be based in our Birmingham centre.
