The Role
As Deputy Shop Manager at our Ilkley Shop you will manage the day-to-day operation of the shop in the absence of the Shop Manager, including managing a team of volunteers, ensuring accurate accounting and handling of assets, delivering high standards of customer service, and adhering to all charity policies and procedures. You will lead by example and ensure that volunteers, supporters, donors, and customers understand how their contributions are making a difference to the lives of people in Yorkshire and beyond.
Specifically, you will:
· Play an active part in running our shop in Ilkley, supporting the Shop Manager in implementing processes and ways of working.
· Provide cover for days off, holidays and sickness as required, with possible occasional travel to other shops to provide support if needed by the charity.
· Support the Shop Manager to maximise the income and profit of the shop through active stock management, replenishment, and rotation.
· Manage a team of well-trained volunteers in the absence of the Shop Manager and take every effort to create a positive retail environment.
· Ensure there are sufficient volunteers to support the effective operation of the shop during all opening hours.
· Support the Shop Manager to ensure the shop is presented to the highest standards with attractive visual merchandising and attractive window displays.
· Support the Shop Manager to ensure that all charity policies, shop standards and operating procedures are communicated effectively to all volunteers and are maintained and followed in a consistent manner.
· Support the Shop Manager to ensure accurate accounting and handling of assets (items donated and money received).
· Support the Shop Manager to ensure accurate record keeping of items donated and the amount paid for each item for Gift Aid tax reclaim purposes.
· Create a welcoming professional atmosphere and deliver high standards of customer service for all customers and supporters.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will need:
· To ideally be educated to GCSE level or equivalent but not essential.
· Experience of managing people/volunteers including recruitment and development.
· To be highly organised with good time management skills.
· To be able to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
· To be able to use own initiative.
· To be resilient and adaptable to change.
· To have good planning, guiding and motivation skills to successfully achieve targeted income is desirable.
· A willingness and ability to occasionally travel across the Yorkshire region as needed for training sessions and team meetings.
· A willingness and ability to safely lone work.
· A willingness to complete our pre-employment checks (to be undertaken once the role is offered and accepted) which include:
o A check on your employment history, by seeking two references
o A check on your eligibility to work in the UK as per the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006

We are looking for a data professional to support and manage significant changes in the way our charity uses, processes and manages data. Our teams pride themselves on evidence-informed practice, using research and data to enhance their work at every stage. There are elements of our charity’s work which are unique to our field, making our data highly valuable in contributing to the future of preventing child sexual abuse. We collect data all the time: on the individual progress of our clients, the reach of our campaigns and the demand for our support. As part of our new Tech and Data Strategy, we are taking the next stage in our use of data analysis and data science, ensuring that we use our data more effectively and efficiently to support our teams in preventing child sexual abuse.
We are looking for a Data Scientist/Analyst to help us make this change. You will be based in the LFF Research Team, reporting to our Director of Research and Impact.
This role will facilitate better use, processing and management of data across the organisation. It will focus on four areas:
- Data systems and structures
- Data analysis
- Data visualisation
- Data security and compliance
The postholder will work alongside experienced researchers to develop a new portfolio of priority projects to enhance our work. With no fixed task list or assigned service, this role offers the freedom to explore and innovate, identifying where data, data science, and data systems can drive real change.
This role will be remote or hybrid - we have offices in Bromsgrove, Epsom and Edinburgh.

The role
As a senior member of the Evidence Directorate, the Head of Programmes operationalises the organisation’s strategic priorities through effective programme design, commissioning, grant management, and delivery oversight. You will lead the Programmes team, ensuring that all funded programmes are well-conceptualised, feasible and governed through clear and proportionate processes. You will work closely with other senior members of the Evidence team, and in particular with the Head of Evaluation, to ensure that programme delivery and evaluation are aligned and mutually reinforcing.
While the Evaluation team leads on the technical and day-to-day management of evaluation grants, the Programmes team leads on the overall grant-making strategy and processes, and they also manage relationships with funded delivery partners.

About you
You will have experience of:

- Managing significant budgets including from government sources

The Role
The role of Superstore Manager involves managing the day-to-day operation of the charity’s first superstore including managing a team of 18 employees consisting of the Deputy Superstore Manager, Department Team Leaders, Superstore Assistants and a team of volunteers, ensuring accurate accounting and handling of assets, delivering high standards of customer service, and adhering to all charity policies and procedures.
You will lead by example and ensure that employees, volunteers, supporters, donors, and customers understand how their contributions are making a difference to the lives of people in Yorkshire and beyond.
Specifically, you will be responsible for:
Driving Success in Our Charity Superstore
- Leading on visual merchandising and display to create a welcoming and inspiring shopping experience that reflects our brand and values.
- Ensuring efficient stock management and generation, so our shop floor is full of high-quality, desirable items that attract customers.
- Maintaining impeccable shop standards and ensuring the store layout supports both customer engagement and operational efficiency.
- Managing and being accountable for implementing and complying with agreed shop operating policy and standards including Health and Safety and Trading Standards.
- Building relationships and working closely with wider functions across the charity such as Facilities, Marketing, Volunteer, and social media teams to ensure the plans are fulfilled and executed.
Efficient Stock Management
- Oversee effective stockroom systems to ensure smooth processing and redistribution of donations, including identifying high-value or surplus stock for resale through online marketplaces or other Yorkshire Cancer Research stores.
- Conduct regular stocktakes to maintain accountability and efficiency.
Inspiring and developing a passionate team
- Recruiting, developing, and retaining talent, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
- Conducting regular performance development reviews for paid employees, implementing and supporting personal development and growth.
- Providing necessary training and resources, ensuring the shop is always adequately resourced and prepared to operate seamlessly, even in your absence.
- Having line manager responsibility for the shop management team, working together to ensure there is management and team cover and sufficient volunteers to operate all trading hours.
- Implementing appropriate training and support for all volunteers to ensure they adhere to all guidelines and legislation including Health and Safety and GDPR.
- Ensuring that all charity policies, shop standards and operating procedures are communicated effectively to all volunteers and are maintained and followed consistently.
Delivering financial excellence
- Data-driven decision-making, using shop performance insights to inform strategies that maximise income and profitability.
- Accurate record keeping of items donated and the amount paid for each item for Gift Aid tax reclaim purposes.
- All shop administration including cash handling and banking functions, ensuring the team work to the highest standard, accurately and on time, always adhering to charity policy and procedures.
- Reviewing weekly sales figures and from these identifying ways to maintain and maximise income, ensuring information is accessible to volunteers so they are kept up to date.
- Working with the Head of Retail and Finance team to set challenging sales budgets and stretch targets that are achievable or exceedable, and drive and motivate your team to achieve and exceed them.
Championing exceptional customer and supporter service
- You’ll create an environment where every supporter and customer feel valued, ensuring:
- Outstanding service across all touchpoints, from the shop floor to the till point, including seamless and secure payment processes.
- Any complaints are managed effectively and efficiently, escalating to Head Office where they cannot be resolved at a local level.
Building Connections and Driving Engagement
- You’ll act as a proactive ambassador for Yorkshire Cancer Research, generating support and income through:
- Engaging with the local community and businesses to secure donations, build partnerships, and promote the charity.
- Maximising the use of community spaces in-store, hosting events that align with our mission while driving additional income and fostering engagement.
Ensuring Compliance and Best Practices
- You’ll uphold the highest standards of compliance, ensuring adherence to Yorkshire Cancer Research policies in:
- Health and safety, safeguarding, and security.
- Administrative procedures and People management policies.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- To be educated to A Level or equivalent or have experience in a similar role at a similar level.
· To have experience of managing a large and diverse team of people/volunteers including recruitment and development.
· To have previous retail experience in the charity sector.
· To have previous experience with a high-volume Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) retailer is desirable.
· Experience of meeting and exceeding targets within a retail environment.
· Experience of opening a new shop is desirable.

The Mental Health Crisis Breathing Space (MHCBS) project is a national initiative providing debt respite for people receiving mental health crisis treatment. Toynbee Hall plays a key role in delivering this support through our dedicated Advice Team, which offers regulated debt advice, manages MHCBS renewal checks, and provides wraparound signposting to additional services.
The team is made up of skilled Debt Advisors and Project Administrators, supported by technical supervision to ensure consistent quality and compliance. Together, they help clients navigate complex financial situations with empathy and professionalism. The Advice Manager oversees the delivery and performance of this service, ensuring advice is accurate, person-centred, and aligned with Toynbee Hall’s high standards.

Job purpose
Lead and support the delivery of high-quality local services by working collaboratively with your team to ensure daily, uninterrupted provision. Scope of role
The Advice Manager is responsible for the effective national management and delivery of the Mental Health Crisis Breathing Space (MHCBS) service. This role oversees day-to-day operations, ensuring that advice provision meets the highest standards of quality, consistency, and compliance in line with both Toynbee Hall and Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) frameworks. Working closely with technical supervisors, quality managers, the Head of Quality and Compliance, and the contract organisation lead, the Advice Manager will ensure the service is performing effectively and meeting contractual targets.
The postholder will bring significant experience in debt advice delivery, including the ability to manage complex cases, creditor challenges, and service escalations with professionalism and sound judgement. They will lead and support a dispersed, largely remote team, oversee auditing and training, maintain oversight of billables, and ensure resources are used effectively. This role requires a balance of operational leadership and technical expertise to maintain service excellence across all areas of delivery.

What the job involves
This is a unique opportunity to lead a pioneering sexual wellbeing service for men with prostate cancer, delivered in partnership with Movember. You’ll be the clinical lead for a remote information and support service, working directly with patients referred from NHS partners and helping to transform outcomes in sexual health and wellbeing.
You’ll oversee the delivery and continuous improvement of the service, working closely with our nursing team to ensure high standards of care. You’ll build and maintain relationships with NHS Trusts, expanding the reach and impact of the service. You’ll also lead a national community of practice, supporting clinicians to implement Movember’s Clinical Guidelines for Sexual Health and Prostate Cancer, and share best practice across the sector.
This role combines strategic leadership, service development, clinical expertise, and stakeholder engagement. You’ll be at the forefront of improving sexual wellbeing for men with prostate cancer, shaping a service that makes a real difference.
What we want from you
You’ll be a registered healthcare professional with significant experience in prostate cancer care, ideally at Band 7 or above. You’ll bring a strong interest in sexual wellbeing, with experience in areas such as erectile dysfunction clinics, and a passion for supporting patients and their families.
You’ll be an experienced service manager and line manager, confident in leading teams, coaching others, and driving quality improvement. You’ll have a track record of working collaboratively across healthcare systems, building relationships and influencing change.
You’ll be proactive, organised, and comfortable working in a hybrid environment. You’ll be committed to equity, diversity and inclusion, and motivated to deliver impactful services that meet the needs of diverse communities.
