Role Title: Graphic Designer
Role Purpose
Quilombo UK is looking for a Graphic Designer to join the team. Quilombo UK is a not for profit social enterprise that challenges people to think differently and bridge gaps between communities, with the aim of building a culturally rich society, where differences are accepted and celebrated. Quilombo UK works in collaboration with QMC Capoeira School, giving you the chance to support QMC Capoeira which is one of the most awarded Capoeira Schools in UK (UK Coaching Awards, Gillette Sports Awards, Kingston Council Sports Awards).

Main Responsibilities

The role
You will lead ThriveSpark’s brand, marketing and communications so more people hear about our work and take action—whether that’s booking training, buying tickets to peer-meetups, or commissioning projects. This is a hands-on board role: you’ll set strategy and also deliver a simple, repeatable comms rhythm across web, social, email and media.
Key responsibilities

Own the annual marketing & comms plan, content calendar and core messages.

Produce clear, accessible copy for web, social, email and press; ensure plain English and alt-text.

Run campaigns that grow enquiries for schools/employer programmes, coaching and peer-meetups.

Lead media relations: create a press list, issue releases, handle enquiries, brief spokespeople.

Safeguard brand identity and tone; maintain basic brand guidance and approval routes.

Manage email updates/newsletters and simple landing pages (co-ordinating with our web support—no heavy design required).

Co-ordinate partner/sponsor communications and produce short case studies/impact stories.

Track and report monthly KPIs (reach, engagement, ticket clicks/sales, enquiries, press mentions) and recommend improvements.

Support basic reputation and incident comms with the Director of Compliance where required.

Line-manage/coordinate any volunteers contributing to content or outreach.
Person specification
Essential

Experience planning and delivering marketing/communications for a mission-driven organisation or SME.

Excellent copywriting and editing skills; confident across web, social and press.

Able to turn outcomes and testimonials into concise case studies that convert.

Comfortable with light analytics (e.g., post performance, email open/click rates) and reporting.

Organised, reliable, and inclusive communicator; aligns with our values and safeguarding approach.

Existing local networks (Southampton/solent) across VCSE, schools, employers or media.

The Problem
People are burning out at work. By the time managers notice, it's too late. We're building something to change that.
What We're Building
A platform that spots early warning signs of burnout and helps managers intervene before people break. Think predictive tech + psychology + practical support.
What We Actually Need You To Do
We need someone who can:
- Talk to HR people and managers about their burnout challenges (15-20 interviews over 2-3 weeks)
- Find organizations that might want to test this with their teams
- Help us understand what would actually work vs. what sounds good on paper
That's it. No corporate nonsense. Just real conversations with real people about a real problem.
Your Actual Tasks
Weeks 1-2: Find people to interview
- Use your network to find 15-20 HR folks, managers, and employees
- Schedule 30-60 min chats (we'll give you the questions)
- Could be over coffee, Zoom, phone - whatever works
Weeks 3-4: Do the interviews
- Have real conversations about burnout
- Document what matters (not what sounds nice)
- Work with our psychologists to make sense of it
Weeks 5-6: Connect us with organizations
- Find 5-10 companies that might test this
- Make intros to the right people
- Help us understand who'd actually pay for this
Time commitment: 2-3 hours a day. Work when you want. No meetings about meetings.

Someone who:
- Knows HR people or managers (and they'd actually take your call)
- Can have a proper conversation without reading a script
- Gets why burnout matters (maybe you've been there)
- Doesn't need babysitting - you see what needs doing and do it
- Can move fast - we're launching in 8 weeks
Experience we care about:
- You've worked in HR, management, or people stuff (3+ years)
- You've done interviews or research before (or you're confident you can)
- You have connections we don't (that's the whole point)

Why Not Paid?
We're pre-revenue. Every penny goes into building this. But if you're good, equity or paid work could come later. And the experience is worth more than a few hundred quid anyway.

Why This Matters

The treasurer is a vital role to the ongoing success of IBP as a not-for-profit community interest company as we push forward to fulfil our goals.
We need someone with the following qualities and skills to join our voluntary management board:
- Financial Literacy: Ability to understand and manage accounts, budgets, and basic financial reporting relevant to IBP’s main operations.
- Attention to Detail: Careful and accurate handling of records, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for community interest companies.
- Organisational Skills: Efficient time management and record-keeping abilities, especially important when working voluntarily alongside other commitments.
- Communication: Clear, concise communication to report financial information to the management board, stakeholders, supporters, funders or regulatory bodies.
- Integrity and Trustworthiness: Strong ethical standards, as the role involves handling funds and maintaining the confidence of IBP’s stakeholders and the wider community.
