The Director of Strategic Partnerships reports to the CEO and is a part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) along with the Director of Finance, the Director of Operations and Facilities Business Manager.  The SLT is responsible for the leadership, culture and oversight of Keychange in the Central Office and Community Sites.

The Role

Who we are

The problem - On average, 160 young people are excluded from school each week. Once excluded, prospects for these young people are bleak, with only 4% achieving good GCSE grades, and 67% entering sustained education, employment or training compared to 96% of their non-excluded peers. This can be a pipeline to prison, with concerning statistics showing 63% of prisoners having been excluded from school.

Our mission - To ensure that young people who have been excluded from school are not excluded from society.

Who we serve - We support the hardest to reach young people in the most disadvantaged communities, each of whom are most at risk of experiencing school exclusion or are at risk of being excluded. Young people who are eligible for free school meals are 4x more likely to get excluded, along with black Caribbean boys. Young people with special educational needs are also six times as likely to be excluded as their peers.

Our work - We work in a number of different settings both during term time and after school. Our coaches lead small groups of 8-10 young people, using sport as a hook and mentorship as an anchor to develop their soft skills, as well as improve their physical & mental wellbeing. This, coupled with exposure to the work place through Career Taster Days, raises their aspirations and puts young people in a better position to enter sustained education, employment or training (EET) when they leave school.

We are looking for someone to carry out maternity cover for our Programme Manager (Midlands & North). As a manager you will play a key part in the leadership of the organisation and driving the implementation of strategic plans on the ground.

It is important to us that this role remains embedded within the delivery of our interventions, therefore the post holder will be required to spend up to 25% delivering our programmes or working alongside staff for quality assurance.

Fundraised income has grown rapidly over the last three years, focusing mainly on income from trusts and foundations. We are now looking to diversify the strategy and have created this new role to take forward opportunities with companies. This new role will support the Director of Development in shaping and implementing the next phase of DFN Project SEARCH’s fundraising strategy and will lead on the development of major new corporate partnerships. They will also lead on the development and management of a small number of existing corporate relationships and sponsorship opportunities.

They have been helping to develop our proposition for companies, developing our strategies for approaching individual company prospects, and will be available to support you in your role when you start in post.

This new role will lead on Platform’s People and Process functions as we progress through the next stage of our exciting restructure process.

We are a flat-structured organisation that makes decisions collectively. We are currently developing and designing a new organisational structure based on sociocracy where staff are supported to work more collectively and strategically across our seven programs. 

The focus of this role will be on transforming and strengthening our HR systems and processes to centre compassion, care and liberation. As well as delivering the day-to-day HR functions within our small organisation, this role will lead on the long-term design and implementation of a People Strategy and a Learning and Development Strategy, supporting our staff to develop their own roles while growing as a team within our new structure. Key priorities for this work will be:

• Leading a review of recruitment practices, with a particular focus on equity and anti-oppression

• Leading a review of our line management practices and processes

• Supporting the review of our Socially Just Waging System policy

This role will sit within our new ‘Resourcing Circle’ - working with the Finance and Fundraising staff and liaising with our Board of Trustees.

We are looking for someone passionate about radical HR practices, who is excited to help us develop a structure that empowers and adequately resources our team to deliver their work.

Hours: 4 days: 32 hours per week based on a 40 hour week, flexible hours possible.

Salary: Baseline salary as of March 2024 is £42,248 pro rata  (£33,791 at 4 days a week) and is subject to Platform’s Socially Just Waging System.

Duties and responsibilities:

People work

• Working within the Resourcing circle to manage all aspects of our People work

• Leading the development of a People Strategy, Wellbeing Strategy and Learning and Development Strategy

• Managing recruitment, selection and contracting

• Managing all employee on and off boarding procedures ensuring the company meets its statutory obligations and delivers an effective probationary process

• In collaboration with line managers, developing and managing performance appraisals, probationary reviews and annual reviews

• Providing necessary HR administration and remaining up to date on employment legislation (training provided) ensuring that any changes are communicated in a clear and timely manner

• Developing and managing our organisational policies and procedures in line with Platform’s values

• Support the Fundraising and Finance Manager in a collaborative review and redesign process of our Socially Just Waging System 

• Leading a collaborative review of our line management process and overseeing its implementation

Culture and wellbeing

• Coordinating the anti-oppression working group, and bottom-lining the development, delivery and monitoring of the anti-oppression strategy

• Supporting and maintaining a culture of care, compassion and liberation in Platform where team members can thrive and achieve personal development

• Maintaining safe working environments for staff and volunteers in line with our policies and procedures

We are looking for an enthusiastic project manager with experience of working in a hospitality or catering environment. The role will involve responsibility for overseeing the day to day running of the Garden Community Café, human resource management, food hygiene practices, health, and safety, ensuring that the café adheres to all of its legal responsibilities. We are recruiting a Volunteer Manager to develop a diverse team of volunteers, to support our work with families in Barnet, Brent and Harrow. As a volunteer-led organisation, the role of Volunteer Manager is central. The postholder will promote Home-Start in each of the boroughs where we work, seeking opportunities for recruitment within local communities. They will ensure that volunteers receive training, development and supervision to support the families referred us, and that high standards of practice are maintained. They will promote initiatives to increase the retention of existing volunteers and ensure that they are recognised and rewarded for their work.
