Who: We are looking for an experienced, self-starting Finance Manager for the Central Foundation Schools of London, a charity supporting two state schools in London, with investments and endowments in the region of £40m.

Responsibilities: The Finance Manager will be responsible through the CEO to the Board, for day-to-day management of the charity’s accounts and all financial operations. They will manage the financial record keeping, payroll, pensions, banking and oversee the tracking of Foundation’s investments and income. The postholder will provide accurate financial management information, including quarterly cashflow forecasting and management accounts and co-ordinating the annual budget setting process.  They will be responsible for preparing the annual accounts to the required standards and overseeing the annual audit process. They will also provide advice on a range of operational issues to ensure sound asset management, value for money and compliance with statutory requirements relevant to the charity’s financial operations. They will contribute to the shared leadership of the organisation including collaborating on the implementation of the Foundation’s strategy.

Our Work: For over 150 years, the Central Foundation Schools of London has supported two schools in inner London. Between them, the Girls’ School at Bow Road, Tower Hamlets and the Boys’ School is based in Cowper Street, Islington provide places to over 2,500 young people. Today, the Foundation continues to benefit students at these two schools while also supporting the schools to strengthen the opportunities, facilities and educational excellence for current and future students.

Our People: We are a small team with three part time staff managing the day to day work of the Foundation.  A Board of 18 trustees/directors volunteer their time and skills and collaborate closely with the small staff team. In 2022 the Board started a process of transformation and modernisation of the charity’s operations and processes. In 2023, alongside refreshing our governance, supporting two major building programmes and updating our financial operations, we established our first strategy addressing how we can best support the Schools over the next decade and more. 

The Role: To support the exciting opportunities presented by the new strategy, Central Foundation Schools for London are recruiting a permanent Finance Manager to provide professional management of the charity’s accounts, ensuring the charity’s operational effectiveness and efficiency, accurate financial management information and advice, preparation of the annual budget, management of our investment portfolio as well as compliance with statutory for the production of the Annual Statutory Accounts in compliance with latest SORP and legislation.

Experience: We are looking for a fully qualified accountant with good post-qualification experience with the ability to work independently and lead the charity’s financial operations.

Hours: Working 2 days a week, the appointed candidate will have the flexibility agree their working pattern with the chief executive. Ideally, the new Finance Manager would work Tuesday or Wednesday (or both) on site in the Foundation office when other staff members are also on site.

Our Offer: Salary £48,000 - £54,000 pro rata dependant on experience;b ased near Old Street, with flexibility in days/hours by agreement; enhanced employer pension with option to join from day 1; 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (pro-rata); taining and development support, including support for continuing professional development.

The Head of Operations will oversee three warehouses in Bristol and one in Plymouth to coordinate the delivery of around 40 tonnes of surplus food each week to c400 front line organisations. The right person will combine a love of logistics, a passion for reducing food waste and leading multi-dimensional teams.            Strategic Development

• Develop and implement the operations strategy (consisting of warehouse, fleet, health & safety and compliance strategies)

• Drive innovation, efficiencies and improvements across operations to increase environmental and social impact while reducing costs where possible

• Align operational capacity with growth plans across surplus food volumes, volunteers, staff and our membership service, working closely with the Operations Leadership Team and the COO

• Prepare and report on operational metrics for the Senior Leadership Team and Board of Trustees

  Operational Management

• Ensure efficient setup and the ongoing operation of all warehouses including seasonal uplifts, remote and temporary operations

• Create and manage the operational budget, ensuring expenditure is at/below target

• Liaise with our food sourcing teams to make the best use of available food to meet the

  demands of members whilst seeking to minimise waste

• Efficiently manage all warehouse buildings, equipment, and vehicle compliance

• Provide operational guidance to strategic partner organisations supporting the charity

  to deliver the FareShare South West service

• Manage and support our Fleet Coordinator and hold ultimate responsibility for our fleet

  of vehicles and material handling equipment

  Health & Safety and Compliance

• Lead on charity-wide adherence to food safety and health & safety regulations, ensuring all teams are trained to the required standards

• Maintain compliance with internal FareShare South West policies, and the national charity FareShare UK policies, within which we operate

• Hold ultimate responsibility for the oversight of external audits and timely implementation of corrective actions, working closely with the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer

  Workforce Development

• As a member of the Operations Leadership Team, support with internal policy development, operational restructures etc, as guided by the COO

• Balance staff rotas for safe and effective operations, including provision for seasonal fluctuations

• Manage recruitment, training and development of warehouse teams, including Health & Safety, wellbeing and welfare

• Lead on staff appraisals and probationary reviews across the Operations Team, ensuring alignment to the Strategic Plan and personal and professional development of the team

Representation Manager

We are recruiting for a Representation Manager to be the Department Manager of the Representation team, and to run our Academic Representation System, in collaboration and partnership with UWE Bristol!

The Representation Manager is also the organisational lead for Democracy and Governance here at The Students’ Union at UWE. This includes our annual Elections, supporting elected presidents and part time officers, keeping up to date on current policy and the constitution, and making recommendations for change to the Director of Engagement.

The Representation Manager works closely with student leaders and representatives to deepen partnerships and develop strategies to lobby or influence decision makers to achieve policy change related to the academic experience. The person in this role will also manage a number of key stakeholder relationships, particularly with academic College and support staff, so you’ll be an effective communicator and able to produce high quality reports. 

The Representation Manager will be responsible for effectively managing the three Representation Coordinators in post, leading the department to develop, facilitate and support the system of academic student representation and deliver and showcase impact. With the support of the Representation Manager, the Representation Coordinators will support, develop and enable a network of over 1,000 student representatives, a core part of our Representation system.

You’ll have experience of coordinating, developing, or managing successful projects, you could have background in developing policy, and/or engaging with customers and stakeholders to receive feedback and making changes as a result. You will know how to collaborate with different people, building strong and effective relationships. You’re an effective project manager who can develop and oversee structures and processes and can bring creativity and ideas to problem solving.

The Head of Programme Funding will manage and provide strong leadership to a dynamic team of six who support the Action Against Hunger Network to position for, access and deliver programmes with UK institutional funding, in line with the International Strategic Plan 3 (2021-5). Key donors include FCDO, DEC, Start Fund, Power of Nutrition and ELRHA.

The post holder will strengthen and expand the programme funding portfolio through the implementation of our 5-year Programme Funding Strategy and UK Government Engagement Strategy, ensuring our global Network secure and manage UK Aid and other UK funding, engaging with the UK Government and wider sector. Working closely with key stakeholders across Action Against Hunger UK, the post holder will bring a strategic and tactical approach to engagement and positioning which combines our UK and Global priorities to those of our important funding stakeholders – not least the UK Government at National, regional and local levels. The HALO Trust are looking for an experienced and driven Philanthropy and Grants Manager to lead and develop high value relationships with philanthropic donors, with a focus on Trust and Foundations (and potentially corporates). 

The Global Philanthropy Team works to secure support for the delivery of vital projects to save lives and protect livelihoods in conflict affected countries around the world, as well as build organisational resilience and support innovative areas of work.  HALO’s philanthropic income has grown significantly in recent years, driven by introductions from our network of trustees, ambassadors and advocates and our focus on strategic and transformational partnerships. We are a small team of highly skilled, experienced and driven fundraisers with a collaborative team culture. The team is supported by a Philanthropy Operations Manager, Philanthropy Assistant and Global Philanthropy Research and Insight Lead (who leads on research and due diligence). In 2024 a Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships for the Middle East will join our team to lead relationship development in this key market. 

You will join a fast-paced, fluid and entrepreneurial context, responding to opportunities while laying the critical foundations for strategic growth. 

While the role is likely to focus on Trusts and Foundations (and potentially corporates) due to our networked approach and the strategic and interconnected nature of our partnerships, supported by networks of advocates, we do not overly separate relationships between Trusts/Foundations, corporates and HNWIs.  This provides team members with varied opportunities in terms of the relationships they lead and the high-level stakeholders they work with. Russia’s invasion has resulted in mine laying and explosive contamination on a scale not seen in Europe since the Second World War, including across vast tracts of farmland. This prevents agricultural production, which is critical to Ukraine’s economy and global food security. Across seven regions, more than 1,000 local Ukrainian staff have already enabled the removal of more than 19,000 explosive items and the clearance of more 3.1 million m2 of land- bringing safety to communities and supporting Ukraine’s economic recovery.

True peace cannot come until land is safe. HALO’s work to clear the deadly debris of war is the first step towards recovery and reconstruction. And the return of hope.

About the role:

The HALO Trust has more than doubled in size over the last eight years by growing support from both Governments and philanthropic donors.  Global income from philanthropic donors (including the US) has significantly increased over the past five years – from circa £4 million to £15 million in 2022/23 and reaching a further peak of £44 million in 2023/24 in response to exceptional donor support for Ukraine. Unpinning this is growth in six and seven figure partnerships with major donors, corporates and foundations, initiated by our exceptionally well-connected network of trustees and ambassadors - and nurtured by our committed and professional global philanthropy team.

By nurturing and growing high value partnerships this role plays a key role in supporting the delivery of HALO’s life-saving work around the world.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead growth within a portfolio of high value (six and potentially seven figure) relationships by providing excellence in supporter stewardship and through the development and delivery of relationship strategies, in collaboration with the Director of Philanthropy and Head of Global Grant Partnerships
• Support senior HALO staff, advocates and trustees to engage and inspire individuals linked to agreed relationships
• Work with international programme teams to ensure the development of high-quality proposals and reports to tight deadlines

Essential Requirements:

• Three years' experience of personally leading successful relationships with high value philanthropic donors (Trust and Foundations, corporates or high net worth individuals or equivalent), including those giving at the six or seven figure level
• Experience of building effective relationships with advocates linked to philanthropic donors
• An excellent communicator with the ability to build relationships with staff and colleagues in different cultural environments
• Outstanding written skills with the ability to work with programme and finance colleagues to design robust project proposals, reporting, and monitoring and evaluation
• Confident in working with financial information including project budgets
• Excellent written and verbal skills with strong attention to detail
• Outstanding interpersonal skills including ability to demonstrate tact, sophistication and gravitas 
• Experience of working with a fundraising database to maximise relationship development

The initial contract is 12 months fixed term with a view to extension. There will be a 3 month probational period.

24 hours per week, £33,000-35,000 pa, pro rata and depending on experience. Pension included.

The role is home based with ability and willingness to travel across UK when required. Flexible working hours to be agreed and to meet the needs of the organisation. Holiday allowance is 25 days per annum pro rata plus bank holidays.

Main Responsiblities: 

• Supporting the Professional Officer in managing finance, human resources, risk management, quality, operational change, board activities and business planning for the organisation.
• Providing programme management support for SAPHNA bidding, budget, invoicing, and contract management processes.
• To support the development and delivery of SAPHNA business planning and prioritisation, including horizon scanning and creating business cases and new opportunities for income generation. 
• To support the Professional Officer in ensuring all the organisations charitable obligations are met.
• To support the Professional Officer and SAPHNA team as required in any other related work- streams.
• Line manage the administrator assistant and have organisation oversight and governance responsibilities of the office based processes.

The SAPHNA is an expanding and evolving organisation, as such the job description and person specification will be reviewed on an ongoing basis in accordance with the evolving needs of the wider team.

We are recruiting a Strategic Partnership Manager to work within our Place team.  You will work with a range of stakeholders including Community groups, Charities, Businesses, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council and funders to launch, develop and grow Businesses in the Community’s Place work in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

We are looking for someone who is able to quickly forge and develop relationships at all levels, who is highly organised, enthusiastic, adaptable, positive and proactive in their approach to work. The ideal candidate will have experience of managing multiple projects and priorities and identifying and applying for funding.

The role will involve:

• Forming and managing strategic relationships with senior representatives from business, local government, voluntary and community organisations, and industry bodies to form cross-sector partnerships.
• Develop a deep understanding of community needs, to map cross-sector opportunities and identify the role of business in creating long term sustainable change.
• Engage key stakeholders (e.g., local businesses, local government, government departments, charities, Chambers of Commerce) who can contribute support and resource (time, money, skills, knowledge) in the socio-economic regeneration of the local community.
• Identify and secure financial support from business, local government, trusts and foundations to enable action on priority issues and secure future sustainability of the project.

• Drive action on the key issues identified from consultations in Rhondda Cynon Taf, with strategic support from BITC’s Place Director.

Experience Required

• The successful candidate will have experience of engaging with senior stakeholders from business, local government, and community organisations, cultivating successful multi-stakeholder partnerships, a successful track record in securing funding, managing contracts and reporting to funders. 
• You will be a strategic thinker, confident in public speaking and have an understanding of the political, social, and economic context of Rhondda Cynon Taf and South Wales.

You will be based in Rhondda Cynon Taf / Cardiff and be etiher homebased or work on a hybrid basis out of the Cardiff office.
