Working closely with the prison and their staff, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will lead the delivery and development of our prison-based reading and numeracy programme, maximising peer opportunities for people in prison to learn to read.

Ideally you will have some experience of prison settings underpinned by the ability to build relationships and possess personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach. 

This role will be prison based. CSAN is the official agency of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference, tackling the root causes of poverty and injustice affecting people in England and Wales. We’re facing a steep rise in poverty and significant pressures on social, economic and church resources. At this time, the Church is called to raise a prophetic voice against poverty and the rhetoric of division and work for the building of a more just society.

In 2021, CSAN launched its strategy to extend the social mission of the Church in a post-COVID society. We are developing the infrastructure of the social action network of the Church in England and Wales, including new alliances for diocesan Caritas agencies, advocacy and migration. As our Senior Officer for Migration, you will help to raise awareness of migration issues from the perspective of Catholic Social Teaching and lead on our Ambassadors Programme against Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery, as well as prepare briefings and campaign responses to Government legislation.

Over the last 20 years, CSAN has established a network of 50 diocesan and direct service charities, with a combined annual expenditure on social mission estimated at £400m, excluding the work of schools and religious congregations. Our members build up local community life in diverse ways, and many of them support individuals in difficulty, including with housing, prison and detention, social isolation, ill-health, violence, disability, employment, care, therapeutic and welfare support.

The key responsibilities of the Senior Migration Officer are:

1. To provide timely information to the CSAN team and the network on UK Government resettlement programmes and legislation on immigration.

2. To support CSAN’s work to improve public policy and practice on immigration, with compelling evidence from our network, and enabling effective participation in advocacy for a humane system.

3. To work closely with the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales on issues of migration and human trafficking.

We are seeking an experienced training professional who can lead on delivering our training offer for young people across these regions; supporting our youth workers to progress them from grassroots activities delivered in community settings through workshops, training, and accreditation and into onward career initiatives and pathways offered by our partners.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Planning and administration of a range of workshops, seminars, and accreditations for young people in Sligo and Belfast in line with agreed targets. 

• Working with our regional coordinators on arranging suitable venues, support staff, resources and materials required for each workshop/seminar/course. 

• Delivery and assessment of training courses through Open College Network including internal verification.

We are looking for a Supported Housing Support Worker to join our Worthing Foyer team. Main areas of responsibilities are:

Housing:

• Coach young people to manage their occupancy agreement and adhere to house rules, in preparation for independent living
• Promote a credit culture, encouraging young people to keep up to date with all payments for rent
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of housing and welfare benefits for young people and be well-informed on significant changes to housing law
• Deal effectively with non-compliance issues, such as non-payment of rent or damage to room, using restorative practices and working collaboratively with the rest of the team

Coaching and Engagement:

• Coach young people so they can articulate their aspirations and ambitions and take the lead in acquiring the skills they need to live independent and fulfilling lives
• Ensure young people are encouraged to take responsibility for their own personal development, to engage with the services on offer and build strong networks and connections within the local community

Essential requirements of the role include:

• Ability to quickly pick up new processes and tasks, coupled with the capability to manage a varied workload independently.

Job Title: Head of Fundraising (Maternity Cover)

Salary: £52,000 - £55,000

Job Summary

The role will be focused on both existing and new funding, raising income from trusts, corporations, individuals and foundations, including managing a pipeline of existing and new opportunities for the organisation's service portfolio. As the Head of Fundraising, you will steward all grant funding and deliver thorough and impactful reports to the Board and funders. You will bring a solid understanding of the UK fundraising environment, regulation, best practice, client management systems, and confidence in senior stakeholder relationship management.

Working closely with the Director of Development and Insights and Service Directors, you will support financial resilience, ensuring sustainability and growth. With a proven track record of securing and managing funds between five and six figure levels, this role requires a candidate who is able to showcase their knowledge, methodologies and of breadth of philanthropy & fundraising from commercial, private, government donors and securing funds from HNWI’s.

This new role is designed to support the delivery of our communications, digital content and supporter services, as the charity grows and takes on more proactive campaigns and engagement. You’ll contribute to creating and scheduling content across our social media channels and website, support the production of our e-newsletter, and play a key role in monitoring community engagement online.

Alongside digital communications, you’ll provide vital administrative support across our wider operations including health information, research and policy. From helping coordinate webinars and podcasts to assisting with day-to-day operations, this is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of a small, friendly and ambitious team working to improve the lives of people with eczema.
