Saferworld is recruiting for a Programme Development Manager (Maternity Cover) to support teams and partners to co-design and mobilise funding for peace, security and justice programmes across a portfolio of 3–4 countries (based on the candidate’s experience and preference).

Working with Regional Directors, Country Managers and programme/grants colleagues, the post-holder will lead programme co-design and proposal development (including concept notes and proposals, theories of change, logical models, risk matrixes and budgets); develop and support country funding strategies and donor engagement strategies; and support new donor engagement while sustaining relationships with current donors. The post-holder will be responsible for managing funding portfolios across institutional and non-institutional donors in our programmes.

Applicants should have a strong track record in programme development and new business with institutional donors such as Global Affairs Canada (GAC), the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), the European Union (EU), UN agencies and Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), with additional experience mobilising resources from trusts and foundations and other mechanisms desirable, alongside proven programme experience and skills in coordinating complex processes and facilitating participatory co-creation to ensure proposals are robust, contextually relevant and strategically aligned.

The Partnerships and Business Development Manager is responsible for securing and sustaining business and property support for The Fitzrovia Partnership, with a primary focus on ballot delivery and long-term levy payer engagement.

The role leads the practical management of the Camden and Westminster occupier ballots, voluntary membership, property forum and targeted engagement activity. It is delivery-focused and process-driven, ensuring that engagement activity is well planned, well recorded, and directly supports successful ballot outcomes.

Working closely with the Marketing and Communications team, the postholder ensures engagement activity is aligned with wider messaging and campaigns, while retaining clear ownership of relationships, follow-up, and conversion.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Business and Property Engagement

· Lead direct engagement with levy-paying businesses and property owners through meetings, visits, calls, and structured follow-up.

· Build and maintain strong working relationships with key decision-makers, ensuring consistent and informed dialogue.

· Develop, lead and manage engagement plans for priority occupiers and property interests, with clear objectives and outcomes.

· Act as a first point of contact for ballot-related queries and engagement issues.

Ballot Management and Delivery

· Manage the end-to-end occupier ballot process, working with the billing authority to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and deadlines for the 2027 Camden and 2028 Westminster ballots.

· Maintain detailed ballot timetables, engagement trackers, and risk logs to support back-to-back ballots.

· Coordinate internal inputs to ballot materials, ensuring engagement intelligence informs content and targeting.

Voluntary Membership

· Manage the development and delivery of a voluntary membership offer alongside statutory levy arrangements.

· Identify, engage, and convert voluntary members, tracking participation and renewals.

· Ensure voluntary members receive clear value through engagement, access, and communication.

Project Management

· Plan and deliver targeted engagement campaigns in support of ballots and priority projects.

· Manage engagement activity as structured projects, with defined milestones, actions, and reporting.

· Work closely with Marketing and Communications to align engagement activity with campaigns, while retaining ownership of delivery, follow-up, and outcomes.

However, it remains distinct in its focus on relationship management, ballot mechanics, CRM discipline, and delivery of outcomes, rather than content creation or communications strategy.

Caxton Youth Organisation:  

Caxton Youth Organisation is the only specialist youth club of its kind for learning disabled and autistic young people in Westminster aged 11 to 25. There is nowhere quite like Caxton Youth Club; that’s what the young people we work with and their families tell us, and we passionately believe it too. 

Caxton has been around for 77 years, quite something for a small but mighty charity, and our longevity says so much about the importance of the services we provide to ensure young people with disabilities in Westminster are able to advance in their personal development, develop a sense of belonging in our community, and lead independent and fulfilling lives. 

The majority of our work is delivered at our dedicated youth club in South Westminster. Our youth work team focus on young people’s social and emotional wellbeing, independence, employability, creating community and opportunities, social action and health & getting active. All these topics are explored during weekly youth club sessions which take place in the evenings, and young people are supported to attend thanks to our very own Caxton minibus which collects and drops participants home across the borough. During school holidays we run trips, including residential trips, giving our members the opportunity to experience life outside London, and parents and caregivers some much needed respite.

About the role

The postholder will lead on CARE’s largest and most complex bids (particularly commercial contracts) including multi-country, multi partner submissions with budgets in excess of £20m.  Working from scoping through to proposal submission. They will also play an important role in ensuring quality programme design reviewing and providing expert advice on bids as well as establishing, adjusting and embedding processes to ensure high quality programme design.  Finally, they will support our strategy to diversify our funding sources working closely with our Partnership & Philanthropy Team.

Borders Forest Trust (BFT) is a charity established to restore native woodland habitats to Southern Scotland, an area with the lowest percentage of native woodlands in mainland Scotland. Since 1996, they have been working towards planting trees, restoring peatlands and other natural habitats, enriching the biological diversity of around 31 sq km in the Southern Uplands. They demonstrate large scale ecological restoration in action, and inspire landowners, statutory bodies, local communities and policy makers to embrace this alternative model for land use and conservation.

Fundraising to date at BFT has seen success, but it has been responsive and ad-hoc as opposed to planned according to strategic need. To achieve their mission, and provide sustainable long-term income, in May 2025 they invested in their first dedicated Development Manager. The post holder has recently secured the Chief Executive post at BFT and as such, we are looking to back fill the role of Development Manager.

The Development Manager will join BFT at an exciting stage, they are about to embark on a new period of strategic development, and from the work undertaken by the previous post holder since May 2025, the organisation understands the importance of fundraising to their future.

This strategic and outward-facing role will be instrumental in expanding the School’s network of supporters and maximising philanthropic income as we celebrate our Centenary in 2026. The postholder will take a leading role in identifying, cultivating, and securing new major donor relationships - building a strong and sustainable pipeline of prospects capable of making transformational gifts to support the School’s vision and long-term priorities as it seeks to uphold its global standing as a centre of performance excellence in classical dance from London base.

This position offers an exceptional opportunity for an experienced development professional to play a pivotal part in shaping the School’s next chapter. Working closely with senior leadership, the postholder will design and deliver innovative engagement strategies to attract new supporters, deepen relationships with key prospects, and communicate the School’s impact and ambitions with clarity and passion. The role requires a proactive and strategic relationship-builder with the confidence to engage high-level individuals and the insight to convert interest into enduring philanthropic partnerships in support of the future of the performing arts at the highest level.

MAIN DUTIES

Donor Cultivation and Relationship Management

• Build and nurture strong, long-term relationships with new and existing supporters through personalised engagement strategies informed by the Head of Development
• Represent the School at meetings, events, presentations and functions to cultivate connections with prospective donors
• Collaborate with senior leadership and the Donor Relations Team to ensure high-level donors are onboarded seamlessly and receive tailored stewardship and recognition.

Strategic Fundraising Planning

• Develop and implement strategies to attract new major donors, aligning with the School’s fundraising priorities for UK in-year activity, as well as USA and Asia development
• Work with senior leadership to set fundraising targets, track progress, and report on performance across each giving level prioritising annual donations of £50k+ per annum.

Proposal Preparation

• Collaborate with content, communications and marketing team colleagues to create compelling materials that articulate the School’s mission and strategic priorities
• Contribute to the planning and delivery of fundraising campaigns, events, and initiatives to engage, cultivate and convert prospective supporters.

Prospect Research and Identification

• Maintain and update the active prospects pipeline, ensuring all opportunities are tracked and appropriately prioritized with touchpoints and assigned relationship leads
• Contribute to the invitations tracker to ensure all prospects are engaged with in a systemised and relevant way according to location, interest, propensity to give.

Monitoring, Reporting, and Analysis

• Maintain accurate records of donor engagement and interactions in the CRM system improving and refining systems and processes as part of a growing department
• Monitor progress against fundraising targets, providing regular reports and insights to senior leadership on pipeline value from identification to stewardship stages
• Analyse donor trends, sector insights and curate feedback to refine engagement strategies.

Team Collaboration and Leadership

• Work closely with colleagues across Development and the Senior Leadership Team as well as Artistic and Academic staff to refine the propositions and align fundraising priorities
• Host year-round events with the Development Team to enable all prospect engagement
• Mentor and support junior staff involved in development activities where appropriate.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Criteria:

• Proven experience in donor cultivation and relationship management - Demonstrated success in building and sustaining 5 and 6 figure annual relationships with major donors and key stakeholders.
• Strong organisational and project management skills - Capacity to manage multiple donor relationships, events/projects, and fundraising initiatives simultaneously, while maintaining attention to detail in a dynamic office environment.
• Strong strategic fundraising expertise - Ability to design, implement, and evaluate fundraising strategies that align with institutional priorities and deliver measurable outcomes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - Skilled at engaging and influencing diverse audiences through persuasive written and verbal communication, including at senior levels.
• Proficiency in proposal and campaign development - Experience preparing compelling fundraising proposals, campaign materials, and event strategies that inspire donor support.
• Analytical and reporting skills - Ability to monitor, interpret, and report on fundraising performance, donor trends, and engagement metrics using CRM and data analysis tools.
• Collaborative teamwork - Proven ability to work effectively across departments and with senior leadership, collaborating with colleagues to achieve shared goals.
• Ethical commitment and alignment with institutional values - Demonstrated integrity, discretion, and commitment to advancing the mission and values of the School through responsible fundraising practices.

Desirable Criteria:

• A knowledge and appreciation of ballet, the arts, performance, elite sport
• Understanding of 501c3 and Endowment Fund structures
• Previous experience of using Salesforce.

The Role
Corporate Fundraising and New Business Development
- Develop and implement a strategy to grow corporate income, focusing on new business and long-term high-value partnership opportunities.
- Produce high-quality, pitch-ready proposals, presentations and decks, collaborating with the Communications and
Marketing Team.

Relationship Management and Stewardship
- Collaborate with the Senior Partnerships Officer to ensure excellent account management of mid-level corporate partners.
- Support with cultivating key individuals (e.g. major donors, trustees, senior volunteers Fundraising Development Board Members) who can make introductions or influence support.

Management and Reporting
-Line manage, coach and support the Senior Corporate Partnerships Officer and the P/T Corporate Officer.

The Candidate
Proven track record of personally securing new five and six-figure corporate partnerships or equivalent high-value business
development deals within the last 1-2 years.

Proven experience in writing and designing compelling, tailored funding proposals and pitch decks that have secured high-value
donations and Charity of the Year partnerships of 50,000 and above.

Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with both corporate and philanthropic audiences.

Proven experience in working with and stewarding major donors, using a tailored, strategic approach to secure high-level income
