Inter Mediate is one of the world’s leading independent conflict resolution organisations. Operating out of London, it works in conflict zones around the world to support peace negotiations and advise on strategies to stop and prevent wars. This is an exciting opportunity to join its small, expert projects team as a Project Development Officer, supporting Inter Mediate’s Project Directors to advance peace negotiations with a special focus on conflicts in the Middle East and Africa.  

 Role summary

The Project Development Officer (PDO) will work within the Inter Mediate Projects Team under the guidance of the Projects Directors and coordination with the Deputy CEO, Operations Team and CEO, to:

• Support and implement Inter Mediate’s existing projects portfolio supporting peace talks and other high-level peace initiatives.
• Build and manage relationships with senior stakeholders in conflict and peace processes, mainly in Africa and the Middle East
• Identify and develop entry points for new projects.
• Monitor and analyse political developments across areas relevant to Inter Mediate’s work.
• Research lessons from past peace efforts relevant to Inter Mediate’s current work.
• Support the Operations Team and Project Directors to prepare project proposals and budgets, narrative and financial reporting, and collect evidence of project impact.

Specific responsibilities:

•  Contribute to strategies to deliver Inter Mediate projects and institutional priorities.
• Support the Project Directors to cultivate and maintain relationships with key interlocutors and relevant experts in the field.
• Undertake travel, including to conflict settings.
• Draft high quality policy memos, speeches and concept notes for senior audiences.
• Provide logistical support for project delivery, including managing travel of project teams, interlocutors and consultants.
• Monitor media, think tanks and other analysis centres on conflict dynamics, and produce briefings and analytic papers for the CEO ahead of travel or engagement with key interlocutors.
• Oversee production of research papers on peacemaking lessons, based on demand from interlocutors.
• Scope for potential new projects and develop new project feasibility studies.
• Support the Project Directors and Operations Team in donor management and project accountability, including contributing to preparation of project proposals and budgets, and reporting in line with donor requirements.
• Compile project progress reports for senior management/trustees’ meetings.
• Represent IM in external contexts where necessary.
• Undertake other tasks in support of IM’s work overall as required.

Experience, qualifications and skills:

 Successful candidates would need to demonstrate:

• A masters degree in politics, conflict resolution and peacebuilding, international affairs, public policy or an equivalent subject. Relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu.
• Three years of work experience in conflict resolution or peace process support for a governmental, non-governmental or inter-governmental organisation, or an equivalent field such as diplomacy, humanitarian access, political risk advisory services, conflict journalism or conflict analysis. Experience relevant to West Africa and Middle East preferred.
• Excellent written English, and evidence of ability to produce high-quality written work to deadline.
• A strong understanding of political and conflict dynamics – particularly Africa and the Middle East - and the ability to produce well-structured and concise analysis
• Ability to operate successfully in high pressure, sensitive political environments and support high-level individuals
• Experience of work and travel in conflict-affected areas, and willingness to travel independently, with support from the Project Directors.
• Evidence of strong cross-cultural interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility and adaptability to support the smooth running of a small team, and willingness to take an “all hands on deck” approach when required.
• Fluency in French and/or Arabic or other languages (desirable)

INTRODUCTION TO THE ROLE

We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Development and Outreach Officer to play a key role in mobilising resources, expanding the network, and raising awareness about child marriage globally. The Development and Outreach Officer will work within the Development and Outreach Team to develop and implement fundraising strategies, cultivate donor relationships, lead the development of grant proposals and reporting processes, and support with outreach events.
 

We are looking for a passionate fundraiser with previous experience in a similar role in the not-for-profit sector, international/intergovernmental organisation or social enterprise. You will have a proven track record of writing funding proposals for trusts and foundations, excellent relationship management and impeccable written communication skills.

London, UK (hybrid with up to three days on site per week). May include international travel.

£32,600 rising on an annual incremental basis. Girls Not Brides also offers a generous 10% pension.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Proposal development, grant management and reporting

•  Develop concept notes and proposals, collaborating with relevant teams to ensure alignment with Girls Not Brides’ priorities and with donor requirements.

Fundraising strategy

• Contribute to the development and implementation of fundraising strategies to diversify and increase Girls Not Brides’ funding base, in alignment with organisational goals and priorities.
• Research and identify potential funding opportunities from diverse sources, including trusts and foundations, governments and corporates.
• Collaborate with Girls Not Brides’ internal teams (regional, finance, communications, learning and impact teams) to maximise fundraising opportunities.
   

Outreach events

•  Support the team in the planning and implementation of events and outreach work throughout the year, working with other teams in the Secretariat, our members and partners.
•  Represent Girls Not Brides at meetings, conferences, and events to network with existing and potential donors, to promote the organisation's mission and impact.

About the role

We are looking for a Programme Officer to enhance the quality of Sightsavers supported programme in Liberia and ensure that they are planned, implemented, monitored and evaluated to the highest standards, in line with Sighsavers policies and procedures. The Programme Officer will work with country office staff, global teams, and partners to identify areas of growth and develop new initiatives.

Key duties will include:

• Identify partner organizations with whom Sightsavers can work to achieve the organization's strategic priorities of the prevention of avoidable blindness and the social inclusion of people with visual impairment, through both service delivery and advocacy work.
• Develop and support longer term relationships with these partners that go beyond the duration of individual projects.
• Support partners in the identification of their own capacity building needs and help facilitate the provision of these needs.
• Assist project partners in the preparation of budgets.
• Monitor expenditure of project financial resources and liaise with the Finance and Support Services Manager/Officer where necessary.

Bringing a strong network of partners, donor relationships and understanding of donor trends, you will play a vital role in reviewing and improving the quality of War Child’s institutional fundraising in the UK and work with our Programmes teams to diversify the scope and scale of new donors and grants. Building on our existing portfolio with FCDO, you will be responsible for the identification and the management of strategic relationships with UK-based institutional donors, primarily the FCDO and institutional foundations. You will maximise the new opportunities brought by the creation of the War Child Alliance and the expansion of our country of operations to help position the organisation for innovative grants and contracts directly with donors and indirectly through consortia.

The main task of the Institutional Funding Lead is to secure funding from UK-based institutional donors. Your primary focus will be the FCDO. You will drive forward dynamic and proactive engagement strategies directly with UK-based institutional donors and indirectly through consortia. The post holder will also develop and support organisational positioning for contracts and grants. This role will introduce innovative and agile funding approaches and models to enhance War Child UK’s competitiveness in a complex donor environment.

• Substantial experience of co-creating, leading, and coordinating complex proposal development processes directly and remotely – ideally for relevant donors including FCDO and humanitarian pooled funds
• Strong understanding of donor compliance, with an up-to-date knowledge of relevant donors including FCDO, and humanitarian pooled funds
• Experience in building networks, partnerships, and consortia to maximise programme impact and funding opportunities
• The ability to engage with diverse stakeholders in a way that leads to increased impact for the organisation, and to spot and create opportunities with institutional foundations effectively and facilitate increasing access to funding for War Child’s work 
• Ability to analyse the donor environment and identify trends, anticipate changes, be comfortable to deal with a large number of elements interacting in diverse and unpredictable ways
• Good knowledge regarding current development and trends in the (international) aid sector
• Experience in leading and delivering donor engagement strategies in the humanitarian sector across multiple countries - ideally in fragile, conflict-affected settings, similar to where War Child operates
• Ability to travel occasionally

The Role  

This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional with up to 3 years of experience in administration which includes administering and monitoring databases. The post will provide the Team with accurate, timely and comprehensive data, reports and minutes to support and enable effective grant making and decision making. The post plays a crucial role in supporting the whole Team in the UK and in Africa with the potential for visiting Egmont Partners and projects in southern & eastern Africa. 

The successful candidate will be highly IT competent, possess good written communication skills and have a positive attitude and strong desire to help meet the objectives of this small but very effective international development charity. A keen eye to detail, a methodical and analytical mind are critical requirements of the role. The ideal candidate will be young self-motivated, capable of working as part of a team and under their own initiative. Strong IT knowledge and experience in MS Office and data administration are essential requirements of the role. 

Flexibility will also be a key attribute. They will be part of a small team who have overlapping responsibilities and support each other in the delivery of Egmont’s strategy. ROLE SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Vice President, Partnerships based in the UK, you will work closely with the teams in our dual headquarters (Toronto, Canada and London, UK), as well as programme and fundraising teams across Africa, Asia, Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. You will be responsible for coordinating a variety of functions that support Right To Play’s (RTP’s) global business development and grant management strategy, supporting proposal development for new funding opportunities and grant management for existing donor partnerships. The role will also include internal support for different fundraising offices globally, to ensure joined up approaches are undertaken to secure and manage grant funding across RTP.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

#1. Funding Identification (15% of Time)

• Lead global prospecting for new business development by tracking funding opportunities, and researching suitable new funding opportunities from governments, private organizations, and foundations in line with RTP’s theory of change and organizational priorities.
• Research and understand the current funding strategies of institutional donors and philanthropic giving organisations to support strategic decision-making on new business development. This will include a focus on regional, country, and sectoral funding trends relevant to RTP’s geographic and thematic areas.
• Monitor funding opportunities and ‘calls’, ensuring that the relevant departments globally within RTP are informed in a timely manner with tailored information.
• Act as the global focal point for the internal application approval process by ensuring documentation for go/no go and proposal processes are compliant with procedures and stored in appropriate online portals.

#2. Proposal Development and Grant Management Support (30% of Time)

• Work in conjunction with relevant departments across RTP (including Global Programs, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning, and Communications departments), to lead the development of different thematic and programme funding materials that will support new donor acquisition and strong donor stewardship.
• Support programme funding personnel across the organisation in the development of specific materials to assist in new business development and equip fundraisers to seek relevant funding opportunities.
• Support the development of proposals in response to specific funding opportunities as required by the Global Partnerships team and occasionally the Country Office teams, in some cases this will be leading on certain proposals.
• Support programme funding personnel across the organisation in the development of project narrative and financial reports, to ensure high standards of reporting and donor stewardship are maintained. In some cases, this will be leading on certain reports.
• Provide additional ad-hoc support to fundraising activities, personnel and offices across the organisation globally as required across the programme funding cycle to ensure strong proposal development and grant management practices are maintained. 
• Participate in, and represent, RTP in external meetings and networks as required.

#3. Data Management, System Compliance and Coordination (40% of Time)

• Track funding applications, pipelines and reports across all fundraising departments globally, using RTP’s Client Relationship Management (CRM) platform and other tracking tools as required.
• Work closely with fundraising offices across the organisation to ensure timely and accurate use of RTP’s CRM platform so accurate fundraising data is maintained in the system.
• Support quarterly reporting and analysis of global funding progress, funding pipelines, funding priorities, tracking against targets/objectives, and disseminate the information globally to all relevant staff.
• Support the preparation of materials (including presentations) on organisational funding performance for the senior Executive Management Teams.
• Manage internal information databases and Microsoft SharePoint sites ensuring documents related to proposals, donor reports, fundraising materials etc. are stored according to agreed protocols and disseminated across the fundraising and program delivery offices.
• Work closely with the Global Fundraising Operations Manager and Global Business Analyst to ensure the platform remains an accurate and effective database of donor information and responding to ad-hoc tasks as necessary.
• Lead on the preparation and coordination of various monthly procedures as required.

#4. Global Partnerships Team Support (10% of Time)

• Contribute to strategic discussions within the team to support planning and priorities.
• Support the planning and implementation of internal meetings and/or conferences.
• Keep up to date with the major issues pertaining to children, child rights and development, as well as the donor environment and developments within RTP.
• Additional tasks as requested by the members of the Global Partnerships Team.
• Undertake general office administrative tasks as needed.

#5. Performs other duties as assigned (5% of Time)

WHAT YOU’LL BRING (ESSENTIAL):

EDUCATION/TRAINING/CERTIFICATION:

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent in international development, political science, international relations, or related discipline; or equivalent work experience

EXPERIENCE:

• 2 years’ practical experience in managing multiple and varied projects
• 2 years’ experience in supporting proposal development and donor reporting
• Fundraising experience for not-for-profits including developing applications, securing funding from a variety of sources, and a track record of identifying and researching donors
• Demonstrated experience in building strong trust-based relationships with widely diverse
