Job description

Touchstone (registered charity No. 1012053) is a leading voluntary sector agency providing high quality services to improve the health and wellbeing of local people.

Development Worker (Perinatal Mental Health)
Salary: starting at £24,982 pa/pro rata (NJC Scale Points 18 – 22)
Hours: 18 hours per week
Contract: This role is fixed term for up to 12 months
Based: Leeds

We are excited to announce that Touchstone has been awarded 12 months funding to develop the West Yorkshire Peri-natal Mental Health Peer Supporter Alliance project. This will provide infrastructure support for individuals, groups and organisations across West Yorkshire who offer peer support during the peri-natal period.  The overall aim is to ensure that Perinatal Peer Support is sustainable, that peer supporters and their managing organisations are well resourced and knowledgeable and that grass roots and peer led groups have a network of colleagues to draw upon for support.  This in turn will ensure that families in the perinatal period are able to access appropriate, safe and effective mental health support.

We are looking to recruit 3 new staff members to work with the project co-ordinator for a fixed period of one year.  The team will comprise of 2 x Community Engagement Workers and 1 x Development Worker.  We are looking for the successful candidates to be in position no later than 1st July.  We are eager to ensure that the diverse communities of west Yorkshire are represented with in our staff team.

The successful Development Worker will work with the identified peer support groups and organisations to build an inclusive, sustainable and self-governing Alliance that works for its members and becomes a community of support.
