The role

The research communications and engagement team at Breast Cancer Now makes breast cancer research accessible and engaging to everyone. Its aim is to highlight the value and impact of research and build continued trust and support for the charity.

You'll use your science communication expertise to bring our research to life. You’ll create content covering Breast Cancer Now’s research aims, progress, and achievements for a variety of channels including our social media, website, fundraising and print publications. You’ll work with members of the brand, marketing and communications teams, and digital teams to make sure research content is engaging and drives brand awareness and support.

To succeed in this role, you’ll understand the impact of research and scientific communication for charitable organisations. You’ll be able to translate complex scientific information and tailor it to a variety of audiences. And you’ll use your excellent writing and verbal communication skills to interpret and present scientific and statistical information in creative and meaningful ways.

Primary location of role and hybrid working

This role is primarily based in our Cardiff/Glasgow/London/Sheffield office. However, our hybrid working model allows full-time staff members to work up to 3 days per week at home.

The post holder will help to champion and manage the PAPYRUS brand and support the delivery of our projects and services through developing engaging and targeted content. They will act as the day-to-day lead on our social media planning and scheduling, as well as blog writing and storytelling.

What you will do:

Lead on the PAPYRUS social media planning and scheduling, utilising a social media management suite such as Hootsuite, or similar.

Support the day to day running of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, Threads, and YouTube), using these to promote our services, increase brand awareness and drive engagement with our audiences;

Lead on maintaining and creating content for the PAPYRUS website and blog, collating stories from people with lived experience of suicide, as well as other charity staff and stakeholders.

Develop the charity’s online presence by exploring new opportunities and channels to appeal to different audiences;

Produce creative designs and artwork for print and digital requirements, utilising in-house design tools and software (including Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva);

To be successful in this role you will have:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Social media marketing campaign experience

A natural flair for storytelling, with the ability to create compelling, informative written content promoting the voices of lived experience.

Good project management skills and ability to manage reactive and planned work

Who are we looking for?

The purpose of the Senior Direct Marketing Officer’s role is to deliver and evolve the acquisition and retention strategy, inspiring the people of London to become long-term supporters of the Charity.

Content development, publication, and dissemination

• Craft and edit compelling multimedia content for a global audience including news articles, press releases, blogs, videos, and case studies

• Adapt content for websites, social media, email campaigns, etc., ensuring each format is optimized for its specific audience and channel. 

• Plan and maintain the content calendar together with the Digital team to ensure consistent delivery and audience engagement. 

• Promote and disseminate content through various channels including but not limited to social media and partner platforms 

• Collaborate with Start Network teams, members, and hubs to transform and disseminate reports, learning materials, grants, impact stories and other resources into clear, compelling, and accessible formats. 

• Uphold the Start Network brand by ensuring all external facing materials is according to the brand guidelines 

 COMMUNICATIONS MATERIALS, AND ASSETS 

• Develop and maintain communication materials of Start Network including but not limited to fact sheets, brochures, marketing materials, presentations, core scripts, impact reports, guidance and templates, etc and ensure the team and members are able to effectively use them

• Ensure that visibility guidelines for members and programmes are kept up to date, and work with members and hubs to ensure these are being used accordingly

• Maintain the organisation and accessibility of Start Network's digital assets. This includes maintaining our digital asset platform and keeping tabs on photos, videos, presentations, logos, and other creative materials from and for members, hubs, and the Start Network team.

COMMUNICATIONS PLATFORM MANAGEMENT 

• Support the management of Start Network’s social media channels and manage day-to-day engagement in close collaboration with the Digital team 

• Lead the management of the member community by posting weekly news and updates from across our programmes and lead on the production of email newsletters and e-marketing.

• Support the communications team meetings, including book diaries and setting up Zoom links when relevant. 

• Manage the communications inbox and ensure enquiries are dealt with swiftly.

The Marketing Campaign Manager will lead the end-to-end delivery, and measurement of defined marketing campaigns, seeking efficiencies and development opportunities for growth. They will implement insight driven test and learn programmes and work to identify new marketing opportunities and audiences.

We are looking for a passionate and proficient marketer with experience of driving the development and delivery of complex integrated campaigns, someone who is a confident communicator and has strong relationship management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

· Successfully manage the strategy development and delivery of key defined marketing campaigns such as The Banham Marsden March from brief to launch and evaluation, on time and to budget, to achieve growth.

· Project manage these campaigns, ensuring marketing deliverables and milestones are met, and incorporate marketing activity across our channel mix. This includes defining and agreeing the brief with the key stakeholder, defining timings and budgets, and gathering quotes.

· Work cross-functionally with Fundraising colleagues and across the Marketing and Digital team to understand and develop, design and execute marketing campaigns applying a holistic view, which unifies channels and customer engagement touch points.

· Manage the day-to-day relationships with associated external suppliers, such as printers, freelancers, photographers, and creative agencies on allocated projects.

· Manage the Marketing Officer, supporting them to deliver their objectives and ensuring their development.

Person Specification:

· Creating marketing strategies for individual campaigns or products, including the testing of new tactics or ideas.

· Proficiency in executing end to end multi-channel marketing campaigns or projects from brief to delivery.

· Excellent written and oral skills including strong content production and brief writing skills.

· Working across multiple teams, with a range of internal and external stakeholders of all levels.

· Delivering clear, collated and focused feedback to agencies and stakeholders.

Senior Media and Campaign Manager

Contract: Fixed term contract for approximately seven months maternity leave cover. With either part time of 4 days (28 hours) per week or full time (35 hours per week) options available.

Ideal start date: 24 June 2024 to provide up to two weeks hand over with the current post holder.

You'll need a softness of touch when working with storytellers and hospice colleagues, and the patience and pragmatism to work with internal and external colleagues. The Role 
 
As our Communications Officer, you will be responsible for planning and delivering a wide range of communications that contribute to increased brand awareness of the charity, demonstrate the charity’s expertise and impact, educate the public about cancer prevention, signs, symptoms and screening and support the generation of income for the charity. 

Specifically, you will: 

• Plan, research, create and distribute creative media content, including press releases, blog posts, case studies and videos, to support research, services, cancer insight, fundraising, events, retail, corporate partnerships and campaigns. 

• Proactively seek, identify and engage in media opportunities, such as attending events, organising photo opportunities and meeting face-to-face with case studies.

• Manage third-party suppliers such as photographers and film production agencies, obtaining quotes, providing clear briefings and ensuring work is delivered on time and within budget.

• Respond to press enquiries efficiently and to a high standard. Understand which media enquiries are appropriate for the charity’s brand and key messages and those which are not, so that the charity prioritises only those which are value-adding. 

• Organise TV, radio and press interview opportunities for the Chief Executive, Directors and Heads of. Prepare clear briefings for interviewees. 

• Demonstrate and convey professionalism at all times and represent the charity when communicating with the media, members of the public, volunteers and supporters to demonstrate the charity’s core values.

• Monitor and evaluate the charity’s media coverage and the digital impact of PR content, providing a monthly media clippings report. 

• Provide PR input to the charity’s Leadership Team, Board reports and performance dashboards. 

• Maintain continuous awareness of industry news and regularly update colleagues on key developments. 

 
About You 

To be considered for this role, you will need: 

• To be educated to a degree or equivalent level of education or have relevant experience in a similar role at a similar level. 

• Previous media experience, whether through journalism or a PR / in house media assistant role. 

• Experience in building relationships with colleagues and journalists and managing media opportunities such as interviews, broadcast opportunities and photocalls. 

• An ability to write compelling copy for multiple audiences, and media channels, often translating complicated information into a format that is easily understood by readers. 

• An agile media mind, able to spot the key storyline that will maximise the possibility of media coverage and attract the attention of the media. 

• An evaluative mindset, supporting continual improvement by analysing coverage and associated data from media activity. 

• An ability to keep a calm head when faced with a reactive media situation in a manner that best protects the reputation of the charity

Darlington Mind is looking for a passionate and energetic Marketing and Development Officer to join our team and help take our comms and fundraising to a new level. Reporting to the Strategic Development Manager you will be responsible for community fundraising, events planning, engagement with business and community, lead generation, stewardship, digital campaigns and innovations in our fundraising and marketing activities.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

1. Create and curate content for digital marketing campaigns to support the strategic objectives of the Charity.

We are a small and agile campaigning organisation on a mission to rescue Britain’s rivers from a toxic cocktail of agricultural, sewage and industrial pollution. We support community action, galvanise and mobilise public opinion, influence government policy, and call out destructive industrial practices to incentivise changes that end pollution. 

We are building a talented team of positive disrupters and community mobilisers to deliver our strategy to urgently protect and restore our rivers for the benefit of community and wildlife.

Britain’s rivers are our life support system and they are dying. We need urgent action to bring them back to life.

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for highly engaged people who share our passion for rivers, wildlife and people who bring a creative, collaborative and investigative approach to campaigning. For this role we are looking for a confident and resilient community organiser who can build strong relationships to support communities to create change locally.

What you’ll be doing:

The Communities Coordinator will support community groups to campaign for clean rivers at a local level. By facilitating grass roots action you’ll be galvanising a strong and powerful network of community activists that have the power to create change both locally and nationally. You’ll be responsible for taking River Action’s national campaign strategy to a local level. You’ll work closely with the Campaigns Manager and the wider team to develop a Community Toolkit (including advice for activists, and guidance and services for communications, fundraising, legal support and citizen science projects) to support communities as well as provide strategic support to empower community activists to campaign for clean rivers. You’ll work closely with the Campaigns Manager and wider team to amplify the stories of those taking action at a local level and connect campaign groups to the wider national agenda. You’ll be working collaboratively with the River Action team to devise, develop and deliver our strategy ensuring our programme of community engagement is equitable, diverse and inclusive. You’ll be working closely with other organisations to ensure our community support compliments the work of others and meets the needs of community groups we work with. 

Main Duties 

• Contribute to the development and implementation of River Action’s campaign strategy.

• Develop River Action’s Community Toolkit as a package of support for local campaign groups. 

• Identify community groups within river catchments areas River Action is working and build positive and impactful relationships..

• Organise site visits to develop good relationships and in-depth understanding of local issues impacting river health.

• Convene and align local stakeholders around river catchment and regional campaigns.

• Facilitate local community groups’ campaigns and provide support in line with our toolkit’s support package.

• Facilitate the creation of community group citizen science projects, integrated within a national system for gathering and sharing evidence of pollution.

• Organise community crowdfunding for citizen science and communications.

• Plan and host webinars, training sessions and online and in person events.

• Develop good working relationships with regulators including Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales and Scottish Environment and Protection Agency. 

• Support the CEO and Campaigns Manager to identify and deliver legal challenges at a local level.

• Maintain and develop partnerships and working relationships with other key groups and stakeholders working in similar areas of work to River Action.

• Identify opportunities to engage, empower and expand River Action’s network of supporters. 

• Support the Communications Coordinator to create inspiring and engaging digital media content and news stories, including taking photographs and videos and conducting interviews.

• Support the Campaigns Manager and Communication Coordinator in responding to the reactive news agenda.

• Contribute to the Monitoring and Evaluation system for demonstrating impact of River Action’s community engagement work, reporting against KPIs. 

• Contribute to fundraising efforts particularly crowdfunding and drafting of funding proposals to support Campaigns and Fundraising Teams and the charity’s mission.

• Work as a motivated and collaborative team player within a fast-paced team.

• Carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the post as requested by your line manager or any other member of the River Action team.
