The Communications and Marketing Manager is a full-time role responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating Childnet’s communications and marketing strategy. The role involves managing digital channels, including the website, email newsletters, and social media, to effectively engage children, young people, families, educators, and other partners. Day-to-day tasks include creating clear and compelling content, overseeing communications campaigns for events such as Safer Internet Day, coordinating Childnet's press and media activity, and ensuring consistent branding and messaging across all materials. Main purpose of post
This is a new role for the marketing team at Weston Park Cancer Charity. The Communications and PR Manager will play a critical role in telling our story, championing our mission, and amplifying the voices of patients, families, clinicians and supporters.
To lead and deliver impactful, brand-building communications and PR activity that increases awareness, deepens engagement, and strengthens Weston Park Cancer Charity’s reputation across South Yorkshire and beyond. The Communications and PR Manager will work closely with the Marketing Manager, Campaigns Manager and Digital Marketing and Social Media Officer to create compelling copy for charity news stories, press releases and campaigns, ensuring consistent and meaningful communication across channels.
This role will:
Communications Strategy & Planning
· Support the Marketing Manager in delivering the annual marketing plan through communications and PR opportunities.
· Support the Campaign Manager with the charity’s multi-channel campaigns that raise awareness of services, research, events, and fundraising initiatives.
· Monitor and evaluate performance of communications activity, using insight and data to inform continuous improvement.
Media Relations & PR
· Build, maintain and grow strong relationships with local, regional, and national media.
· Act as first point of contact for media enquiries and manage press office activity.
· Lead proactive PR campaigns to highlight the charity’s work, impact and partnerships.
· Prepare press releases, statements, briefings and media packs.
· Support senior leaders and spokespeople with media interviews and messaging.
Communications & Storytelling
· Oversee the creation of high-quality communications across all external channels – website, newsletters and print materials.
· Support the delivery of communications through the charity’s digital channels by working closely with the Digital Marketing and Social Media Officer.
· Provide oversight on social media messaging, online storytelling, and website content.
· Lead on gathering patient, supporter and staff stories, ensuring sensitivity and ethical storytelling.
· Produce compelling copy that strengthens the charity’s brand and inspires action.
Brand & Reputation Management
· Provide staff members with regular training on the charity’s tone of voice, ensuring high standards of output.
· Ensure consistent application of the charity’s brand identity, tone of voice and key organisational priorities.
· Protect and enhance the organisation’s reputation through effective issues management.
· Work with the Marketing manager and Leadership team as needed on reviewing and updating the charity’s strategy, tone of voice and branding.
Stakeholder Engagement & Team Support
· Work collaboratively with clinical partners, fundraisers, volunteers, ambassadors, and community groups.
· Support internal communications to strengthen engagement across teams.
· Represent the charity at events, briefings, and partnership meetings where required.
· Represent the Marketing Manager/Campaign Manager and support the marketing team as needed during annual leave/sick leave.

About this role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing Grants & Impact Team, overseeing grant giving and grant management processes within Alder Hey Children’s Charity.
A senior member of the Grants Team, the post holder will manage Alder Hey Children’s Charity’s grant awarding process, providing approximately £5m of grant awards to the Alder Hey NHS Foundation Trust (the ‘Trust’) per year, with ambitions for significant growth.
The Grants Manager will help develop and implement multi-year strategies to support the identification of fundraising needs and grant requirements. In doing so, the post holder will work closely with both Trust colleagues and our charity fundraising and marketing teams.
The post holder will report to the Director of Grants & Impact (DoG&I) and line manage the Senior Grants Officer and Grants Officer.
Main Duties/Tasks:
Strategic Planning, Financial Management & Reporting
- Work collaboratively with the DoG&I to develop and implement strategic, multi-year plans and budgets.
- Monitor progress against strategic plans, budgets, Key Performance Indicators and produce reports for key meetings such as the Charitable Spending Committee.
- Work with the Trust to identify upcoming funding requirements. Support the development of funding priorities, proposals and projects in line with the strategic direction of the Trust and Charity.
- Support the development of internal and external partnerships in line with our strategic plans and priorities.
Grant Applications & Awards
- Develop and oversee the grants application process, ensuring it aligns with the charitable spending strategy and is accessible to all applicants across the Trust.
- Manage the grants awards process, ensuring that applications are reviewed and approved in line in a timely manner within the agreed authority levels.
- Support grant applicants through the process, linking them with the relevant fundraising team and other colleagues where appropriate.
- Provide successful applicants with award letters and grant terms and conditions, tailored as required, with the support of the Grants Senior Officer and Officer.
- Work with the Finance Team to collate financial information on grant awards for reporting to the Charitable Spending Committee and funders.
Communication & Relationships
- Lead on the promotion of opportunities available to apply for Charitable Funding.
- Develop key relationships throughout the Trust that support the grant award and reporting process.
- Develop relationships with the Youth Forum, enabling youth voice in grant making.
- Work closely with the Impact & Insights Manager to ensure that grants awarded are likely to have impact and that this is a central part of the Charity’s grant making.
- Work proactively with the Fundraising and Marketing Teams to ensure that sufficient information is provided in relation to planned and approved grants and appeals.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the Finance Team, working together to ensure financial accuracy and a smooth process of grants management.
- Help promote and maintain a positive culture within the Grants & Impact team.
- Line management of the Grants Senior Officer and Grants Officer.
Innovation & Development
- Work collaboratively with the Digital & Database Manager and Impact & Insights Manager to develop the CRM system for tracking grant awards and reporting data.
- Be a specialist in grant awarding and maintain strong knowledge of relevant legislation and good practice.
Other Duties
- Be an outstanding advocate for Alder Hey Children’s Charity in line with the core values of the organisation.

Additional Information

About the Role
mySociety is looking for a Digital Service Manager to oversee the day-to-day running and development of its online services, including WhatDoTheyKnow, FixMyStreet, TheyWorkForYou and WriteToThem.
This is a varied role combining operational service management, user support, governance, risk management and continuous improvement. You will ensure services run effectively, support users, manage complex issues and work collaboratively with teams and stakeholders to improve digital services that create meaningful social impact.
Key responsibilities include:

Summary
Challenge Works is a global leader in designing and delivering prizes that incentivise innovative solutions to the world’s biggest challenges in health, climate, cities, and frontier technology. The role
- Independently design, project manage and execute comprehensive end-to-end communications and marketing strategies for our portfolio of challenge prizes, working with the programme teams to meet communications objectives and use communications tactics to support the prize’s theory of change.
- Lead the development of Challenge Works’ multimedia storytelling capabilities. Oversee the production of high-quality video, digital, and editorial content that brings the impact and stories of our innovators to life.
- Develop and deliver an always on content strategy across Challenge Works owned channels which identifies narrative arcs within individual prizes that can be leveraged to elevate the global Challenge Works brand.
- Establish and manage a tracking and reporting framework to evaluate the effectiveness of comms activity throughout a campaign, using data to provide actionable, data-informed recommendations based on insights for the Senior Communications and Marketing Manager and prize delivery teams.
- Oversee and curate a pool of external suppliers, ensuring we achieve high-quality outputs and strong value for money. Hold specific responsibility for managing and nurturing the relationship with web developers, ensuring digital products - especially prize microsites - are well-designed, functional, and delivered to spec.
- Equip prize delivery teams with high-quality comms tools and guidance. Develop and maintain practical toolkits, run training sessions, and provide tailored advice so that each team consistently applies best-practice communications and is confident in communicating its prize for maximum impact.
The person
- Significant experience managing multi-channel marketing and communications campaigns (ideally within innovation, tech, policy, or purpose-driven sectors) with demonstrable commercial or reputational impact.
- A strong track record of conceptualising and delivering creative content campaigns, with specific experience in using video and digital storytelling to engage complex audiences.
- Experience briefing and managing external creative agencies or freelancers, ensuring high-quality outputs and value for money.
- Experience developing a range of content formats including graphics, video, and audio, using platforms such as Canva or Adobe.

Desirable qualifications, skills, and experience
- Professional marketing qualification (CIM or equivalent)
- Experience of audience segmentation and campaign optimisation
- Experience working within the charity or not-for-profit sector
- Experience supporting public affairs, campaigning or advocacy communications
- Experience managing marketing budgets
- Experience using marketing automation, CRM or audience insight tools
Selection process
Interviews will take place in person at our Horseferry Road office in London on 30 and 31 July 2026. The selection process will include competency-based interview questions and a presentation task. Further details will be provided to shortlisted candidates.
