The main duties of the National Press Officer role include:

Main duties and responsibilities

1. Representing PCS in the media

• Be first point of contact and respond promptly to enquiries from the press and media on PCS issues and stories, including the provision of out of hours cover
• Establish and develop good working contacts with the press and media
• Generate media and press interest in PCS and campaigns
• Draft press releases, quotes and articles/blogs
• Ensure all media opportunities, including television, radio, digital and social media are exploited effectively

We are seeking a flexible, reliable, and enthusiastic Support Worker to deliver and develop services for Young Carers aged 5–16. The role involves three key parts. At CRUK, we are lucky to have a substantial database of supporters who have helped us in our commitment to funding world-class research which drives forward advances in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. The Loyalty & Cultivation team looks after the campaigns and journeys which these supporters receive, across multiple channels, to motivate, engage and inspire them to continue their journey with us.

We are looking for an experienced and creative marketer to join the team, bringing together stakeholders from across the organisation to shape and deliver key strategies and campaigns to inspire and retain supporters across the range of products CRUK has to offer.

What will I be doing?

• Support the Lead to translate the Marketing, Fundraising and Engagement operating plan and budget into an audience marketing plan and budget. Define and develop the audiences and product offerings that need activating as part of this marketing plan and manage the development and delivery of cross-channel integrated briefs
• Own the team's approach to cross-sell and cultivation, making strong, data-led recommendations that balance audience and business need and shape the mass journeys supporters receive
• Manage the planning, set-up, delivery and analysis of integrated multi-channel campaigns that meet and exceed specific audience KPIs
• Manage the content and creative production, testing and optimisation process, ensuring campaign assets are fully aligned with Brand messaging and other communications themes
• Collaborate with teams across Marketing & Digital to identify and implement strategic marketing opportunities and ensure holistic supporter journeys for CRUK audiences
• Work with digital and data experts from across marketing and the wider organisation to improve communications and better engage our audiences
• Manage the continuous testing and analysis of campaigns, spotting opportunities to optimise ongoing activity and making recommendations to improve the effectiveness of future campaigns

What are you looking for?

• Significant experience translating marketing strategy into tactical delivery plans by channel, audience and budget
• Proven experience planning and delivering multi-channel campaigns that meet campaign KPIs, with a particular focus on digital channels and the associated tools and metrics
• Strong understanding of end-to-end supporter journeys and the role of different channels in fully integrated campaigns
• Relevant experience of marketing to existing supporters or managing loyalty schemes
• Relevant experience of managing and motivating agencies to drive maximum value from relationships
• Matrix management experience with proven leadership skills and the ability to manage competing priorities for yourself and others
• Data-driven with a strong understanding of UX principles and relevant experience of interpreting results and recommending opportunities for optimisation

We, the Universities Federation for Animal Welfare (UFAW) and the Humane Slaughter Association (HSA), are two sister charities focused on the promotion of scientific, evidence-based approaches to animal welfare. We fund research, support the animal welfare science community, and advocate for evidence-based improvements to animal welfare worldwide. Communicating animal welfare science to both specialist audiences and the wider public is key to turning knowledge into real-world improvements in animal welfare. We are seeking a Scientific Communications and Content Assistant to join our talented Scientific Communications Team during an exciting period of growth and change for both charities.

The Scientific Communications and Content Assistant will support us to deliver our scientific communications strategy by helping to draft, design and publish engaging content for our print and digital platforms. This includes assisting with the creation of visual and written content that effectively convey complex scientific information to our diverse audiences.

The role will report to our Scientific Communications and Outreach Manager and work closely with the Public Affairs Lead and other internal teams to create engaging content for our audiences. We are seeking candidates with strong written, editing and visual skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and clarity.

The ideal candidate will enjoy working as part of our small multi-disciplinary team and be confident to work unsupervised when necessary. You will be happy working across multiple projects, adapting to different communication styles and priorities, and keeping messaging clear and consistent across varied audiences.   

This role will be home-based. Because we’re based in the UK, the appointee will need to be UK-based and legally entitled to work in the UK. You will be expected to occasionally attend our offices in Hertfordshire to carry out duties as required and attend meetings. Travel costs and subsidence will be covered for you in these situations. The role may also require occasional travel within the UK and possibly overseas for events and other relevant activities - some of which may occur at weekends or in the evening. 

What you’ll be doing

• Drafting copy, designing graphics/visual materials (eg using Canva) and producing content for print, web, email, and social media 
• Overseeing the Charities’ day-to-day social media activity, including scheduling posts, monitoring channels, and responding to engagement.
• Assisting with the creation and dissemination of the Charities’ content including but not limited to press releases, newsletters, and digital campaign materials.
• Liaising regularly with internal teams to stay up to date on the Charities’ activities and to plan and schedule content across channels.
• Monitoring social media analytics and Mailchimp performance metrics to support reporting and strategy development.
• Collaborating with internal teams, for example Fundraising, to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
• Occasionally creating, editing and publishing video content.
• Liaising with external agencies, partners and stakeholders.
• Ensuring all materials and communications are accessible and inclusive.   
• Occasionally travelling within the UK and overseas for conferences, meetings and other events - some of which may take place during evenings or weekends.

What we’re looking for

• Proven experience in digital communications, content creation and social media.
• Demonstrable writing and editing skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in using social media platforms (eg LinkedIn, Facebook, BlueSky and YouTube) and scheduling tools such as Hootsuite.
• Experience using graphic and content design tools such as Canva.
• Ability to monitor, analyse and interpret performance analytics from platforms including Mailchimp, social media, Hootsuite etc.
• Proven organisational and time management skills.
• Experience of working collaboratively with diverse teams, with well-developed interpersonal skills.

It would be great if you have

• Experience working in a charity or non-profit environment.
• A background in science such as a BSc or relevant experience in a scientific charity or setting.
• Knowledge of animal welfare science and practices.
• Familiarity with website content management systems such as WordPress.
• Experience creating and editing video content. 
• Understanding of policy communications or advocacy work.
• Understanding of SEO, engagement metrics, and digital advertising.

Fundraising Communications Writer

Position Objective:

To produce persuasive, high-volume fundraising copy – including proposals for recurring and prospective major donors – that inspires support for PETA and other PETA entities. This is a fast-paced, varied role for a sharp, adaptable writer who thrives under pressure. You’ll be juggling multiple projects, switching tones with ease, and delivering clean, compelling copy quickly and independently. Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Write compelling proposals for existing donors and new prospects, tailored to specific interests and relationships
• Draft and revise donor correspondence, including responses to member and prospect inquiries, form letters, acknowledgement letters, and scheduled/ad hoc impact reports
• Develop copy for direct mailings and email appeals, blog pages,  and other fundraising copy to support donor engagement and acquisition
• Liaise with colleagues to gather donor insights, align on strategy, and manage workflow
• Edit and review work from requestors, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with PETA’s voice
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

• Professional writing experience, ideally in fundraising, journalism, digital platforms, or advocacy
• Experience writing proposals, appeals, acknowledgments, and donor communication highly desirable
• Proven ability to write quickly, clearly, and persuasively for diverse audiences
• Experience using Asana, Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office
• Strong command of English grammar
• Thorough knowledge of animal liberation issues and PETA entity campaigns
• Excellent organisational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and knack for applying feedback quickly
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet rush deadlines without compromising quality
