An exciting opportunity has emerged for an Editor to join Tearfund's Communication for Development team. The team is building a global community who are learning together, online and offline, and equipping themselves with knowledge and skills to face the challenges of poverty and injustice in our world. 

The successful candidate will support the production of high quality resources for learning, research and training, in line with Tearfund's vision and strategy. These resources aim to meet the needs of Tearfund partners, staff and our wider Tearfund Learn audience.

The Editor will have initiative, an eye for detail and the ability to schedule and plan ahead. They will also demonstrate flexibility, a relational approach and the ability to think creatively. Experience of international development will be highly beneficial, as well as a biblical understanding of integral mission.

We are looking for a proven copy-editor, with English as their first language. The Editor will support the development of different types of publications and resources, and will have oversight of copy on Tearfund Learn, including writing fresh digital copy as required. Ideally candidates will have several years of relevant experience, but this would also be a good opportunity for someone with strong editorial aptitude looking for the next step.

Role Summary

The Resources Coordinator role sits within the learning content creation team, which is responsible for the devising, commissioning and delivering of high quality, film-focused learning opportunities. These include the production of resources and online courses for teachers and their learners which are made available on our website, Into Film+ (our video-on-demand platform) and on our learning platform. 

Main Responsibilities 

• To produce high quality, exciting and engaging resources for educators and young people, including commercial resources for film industry clients. 
• To contribute to the planning and evaluation of resources within our three key areas of work: Teaching with Film, Careers and Progression, and Filmmaking
• To project manage the resource process from initiation to publication or delivery.
• To assist the corporate partnerships team by contributing to pitches for educational resources with partners to support new film releases. 
• To contribute to the development of courses aimed at educators via our online learning platform.
• To evaluate resources, training, online materials and related areas of organisational interest through surveys, focus groups and other methods, to identify and implement changes and programme developments that meet Into Film’s and our audiences’ needs and priorities.
• To develop, with the rest of the team, reliable quality assurance processes and documentation for our resources, training and online programmes.
• To carry out external and internal training to a range of staff and stakeholders, including supporting internal staff with advice and information.
• To assist the resources and training leads in collaborating with external organisations and individuals to create resources and training materials.
• To develop and maintain good working relationships across the organisation and provide training, educational insight and administrative support.
• To attend meetings across Into Film and with external partners to provide resource and training guidance covering all areas of our work.
• To complete administrative tasks including supporting educators, uploading resources to our website and assisting with reporting on resources to stakeholders. 
• Copywriting, consultancy and research for Into Film News and Views and other marketing content. 
• To develop and contribute to the planning and filming of video content for resources or courses.

Person Specification

Minimum Requirements

• A minimum of two years’ experience of teaching in the UK.
• Experience of creating resources which include moving image/film.
• Knowledge of the educational landscape across all four UK nations.
• Demonstrable creativity and commitment to making resources and training interesting and exciting for teachers/educators and students/young people.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail, with the ability to write accurately and correctly, and the ability to persuade and influence others and feedback ideas in a professional manner. 
• Experience of chairing and guiding meetings.
• Experience of managing a range of projects, from initiation to completion, working with a range of stakeholders. 
• Demonstrable understanding of monitoring and evaluation.
• Commitment to film as a powerful tool for education, both as a cultural art form and to engage young people and raise attainment.
• Current knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, in particular Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

Desirable

• Experience in creating resources or opportunities which support young people’s careers education.
• Experience of filmmaking with young people.
• Experience of training teachers or other professionals.
• A love and knowledge of film.

The Role 
 
As our Communications Officer, you will be responsible for planning and delivering a wide range of communications that contribute to increased brand awareness of the charity, demonstrate the charity’s expertise and impact, educate the public about cancer prevention, signs, symptoms and screening and support the generation of income for the charity. 

Specifically, you will: 

• Plan, research, create and distribute creative media content, including press releases, blog posts, case studies and videos, to support research, services, cancer insight, fundraising, events, retail, corporate partnerships and campaigns. 

• Proactively seek, identify and engage in media opportunities, such as attending events, organising photo opportunities and meeting face-to-face with case studies.

• Manage third-party suppliers such as photographers and film production agencies, obtaining quotes, providing clear briefings and ensuring work is delivered on time and within budget.

• Respond to press enquiries efficiently and to a high standard. Understand which media enquiries are appropriate for the charity’s brand and key messages and those which are not, so that the charity prioritises only those which are value-adding. 

• Organise TV, radio and press interview opportunities for the Chief Executive, Directors and Heads of. Prepare clear briefings for interviewees. 

• Demonstrate and convey professionalism at all times and represent the charity when communicating with the media, members of the public, volunteers and supporters to demonstrate the charity’s core values.

• Monitor and evaluate the charity’s media coverage and the digital impact of PR content, providing a monthly media clippings report. 

• Provide PR input to the charity’s Leadership Team, Board reports and performance dashboards. 

• Maintain continuous awareness of industry news and regularly update colleagues on key developments. 

 
About You 

To be considered for this role, you will need: 

• To be educated to a degree or equivalent level of education or have relevant experience in a similar role at a similar level. 

• Previous media experience, whether through journalism or a PR / in house media assistant role. 

• Experience in building relationships with colleagues and journalists and managing media opportunities such as interviews, broadcast opportunities and photocalls. 

• An ability to write compelling copy for multiple audiences, and media channels, often translating complicated information into a format that is easily understood by readers. 

• An agile media mind, able to spot the key storyline that will maximise the possibility of media coverage and attract the attention of the media. 

• An evaluative mindset, supporting continual improvement by analysing coverage and associated data from media activity.

We are currently at the beginning of an exciting and ambitious program to transform our organisations Digital, Data and Technology - becoming a trusted partner for colleagues in the organisation. 

In the last year we have implemented a new CRM platform based on Salesforce and Azure platforms while continuing to adapt to modern ways of working post pandemic that have changed how our physical locations are best utilised.

As Senior Network Engineer, you'll play a key role in maintaining and supporting our current physical network hardware and solutions while we look to adopt a cloud first approach moving away from our current dependency on physical locations and legacy services. 

You'll work closely with the wider technology team on the development of our office infrastructure as we look to expand our current use of Meraki solutions to support us in providing office services to several charity partners alongside Save the Children UK.

Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager, you will be responsible for: 

• Monitoring our office and server platforms network connectivity to ensure availability, uptime, and responsive systems for the organisation using tools such as WhatsUpGold and Meraki portals and Azure monitor
• Maintaining our server platforms network connectivity, whether on premises, in private cloud or public cloud
• Maintaining and developing our physical office locations connectivity for end users and tenants alongside our Facilities team
• Working with our partners to maintain our WAN and cloud connectivity
• Helping implement solutions that are secure and follow Zero trust principles
• Maintaining current technologies such as Fortigate firewalls
• Implementing new technologies such as Zscaler and Azure Firewall
• Providing connectivity solutions that meet business requirements
• Documenting current and future solutions to ensure accountability and to promote Team and Organisation understanding of technologies.

About you

You'll have a track record of delivering solutions/platforms that empower organisations and understand how networks and connectivity provide the backbone of solutions and how critical infrastructure is to delivering business services.

To be successful, it is important that you have:

• Significant experience in a hands-on role delivering enterprise class networking – switching, routing and Wifi
• Demonstrated experience working as a Senior / established Network Support Engineer supporting department colleagues and business users in a large-scale organisation

• Enterprise Switching and Routing expertise

ABOUT THE SERVICE

Synergy, Brent is a Housing Related Support (HRS) Service for a range of vulnerable people who have been or are at risk of homelessness. The age eligibility criteria for the service is adults between the ages of 18 to 60, who are identified to have low/medium support needs. Some of the needs we support are:

• Single homeless between ages of 18 to 60
• Socially excluded individuals
• Ex-Offenders
• People with substance misuse
• Mental Health (Low)
• Learning disability (Low/Medium)
• Women who have come from domestic abuse environments and situations who may need low level support as part of their resettlement following a move on from a refuge or other safe domestic abuse supported accommodation.

SERVICE DELIVERY

• Support the Service Manager with the day-to-day operational delivery of the service and work directly with colleagues, residents, participants, and other stakeholders to provide a high-quality, holistic service which meets the presenting needs of all relevant stakeholders.
• Ensure service responsibilities and requirements are carried out effectively. This includes but is not limited to; welfare checks, risk assessments, support sessions, safeguarding checks, training and development, and other responsibilities required for effective service delivery.
• Support the Service Manager to ensure the service and team meet and exceed Key Performance Indicators, and work in line with professional codes of conduct.
• In conjunction with the Service Manager, facilitate a program of continuous improvement in an environment where residents and participants are cared for, supported, and have access to resources they need to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes.
• Empower residents and participants to make decisions to take control over their lives, by creating an enabling environment.

RISK MANAGEMENT, INFORMATION MANAGEMENT AND CASE RECORDING

• Follow the relevant risk assessment and management procedures, share any relevant information with partner agencies as appropriate.
• Ensure all case recording, and information is accurately recorded in a timely manner, ensuring electronic records are protected in line with GDPR, and kept up to date and written to a high standard.
• Alongside the Service Manager, champion, and act as a point of reference for safeguarding concerns within the service(s). Ensure all staff attend relevant safeguarding and training and use knowledge to coach and advise the team.

PROPERTY AND HOUSING MANAGEMENT

• Create and manage a welcoming, psychologically informed home environment for residents and participants, ensuring a continuous focus on safety, health, and wellbeing.
• Ensure the accommodation in which residents live is maintained to a high standard, in line with SIG’s property standards and meets all legal and statutory health and fire safety requirements to operate safely, effectively, and efficiently.
• Ensure all repairs and maintenance issues are correctly reported and managed through to completion.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

• Provide support in setting the service’s budget and reviewing monthly management accounts; manage set budgets effectively and ensure resources are maximized.
• Maintain financial management within the service, including but not limited to, invoice management, arrears management, management of petty cash, and expense claims.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Contract Management and Internal Auditing; Ensure due diligence is carried out and records are well maintained.
• Administration duties will vary, including operating online systems and ensuring correct processes are followed alongside GDPR and confidentiality.
• Other duties may include but are not limited to, maintaining clean and tidy environments, removing rubbish, ordering supplies, arranging in house events and activities and other general on-site duties.

Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position. 

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

• Understanding and/or experience of working with people of complex backgrounds, ex-offenders, mental health, substance misuse, challenging behaviours
• Experience of working with and engaging with diverse groups of people from varying backgrounds
• IT Proficiency, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to navigate and learn new case management systems and other types of organisational software
• Understanding and/or practical knowledge of the social and societal marginalisation that can be attached to people with mental health issues, addiction, exploitation, homelessness and within the criminal justice system
• Ability to promote the service and provide outreach-based provision, with an ability to liaise and work effectively in partnership with stakeholders
• Ability to follow organisational policies and process in line with external governance

What we would like, but not essential:

• Previous experience in people management and development

We are now launching pilot programmes Sierra Leone and as the International Programme Manager, you will manage the launch and delivery of these programmes and be passionate about ensuring young people are given opportunities to learn, earn and thrive.

You will work with various stakeholders, from a mixture of governments, NGOs, corporate partners and employers to support them to deliver safe and impactful programmes to agreed targets. You will report on progress to both internal and external stakeholders, becoming the local partners’ ‘critical friend’ and focal point of contact, and support them in setting up new programmes. This may include delivering programme design, training and producing toolkits and resources, and developing evaluation frameworks. You will work with local partners on all aspects of programme delivery, from project implementation, review, monitoring and evaluation and budget management. 

You will have extensive experience of supporting organisations to deliver safe and impactful programmes, with a good understanding of skills development programmes, especially in relation to employability, entrepreneurship and education. This will be coupled with significant experience of working in Sub-Saharan Africa. Specific experience of working in, Sierra Leone and the ability to communicate in the country’s language, Krio would be advantageous and is highly desirable.

One in seven people in the UK experience tinnitus.  This role will positively and proactively innovate, manage and improve Tnnitus UK's services and build on the reputation of Tinnitus UK to date.  This role leads Tinnitus UK's efforts in providing direct support to Tinnitus through multiple channels including telephone, and online.  In addition liaises with regional support group leaders in the provision of support, face to face and locally.  Given that Tinnitus UK is the only charity in the UIK to provide such services delivery of these services at the highest standard is essential and consequently enhances the reputation of the charity,

The position is responsible for the development of the strategic and annual plans associated with the provision of these support services, and has direct day to day responsibility for implementing them through multiple channels (helpline services, support group and volunteer programme, events) nationally in Tinnitus UK.

This role provides strategic oversight and management of the services portfolio (helpline services, support group and volunteer programme, events) nationally in Tinnitus UK.  The post holder works with the Chief Exeutive and the rest of the Leadership team to deliver services, ensuring that goals are achieved through effective management practices, that staff are motivated and supported to build sustainable services to meet the needs and expectations of the tinnitus community and work closesly with research to remain up to date on the latest understanding of the issues that cause tinnitus and solutions that help address and mitigate the challenges facing sufferers.  The role ensures that all activities are carried out in accordance with statutory requirements, quality standards, information governance requiremens and organisational policies.

This role will maintain and develop Tinnitus UK's digital offerings, ensuring these are delivered in ways that help and encourage people to access our services now and in the future.  This will include maintaining and monitoring existing services and developing, testing and embedding new ones.

Main Responsibilities

1. Develop and implement our services strategy

• Strategic and operational oversight of all Tinnitus UK's services to the tinnitus community, optimising both digital and traditional models and ensuring relevance and quality
• Innovatively improve and extend Tinnitus UK service provision, with a primary focus on people living with tinnitus, recognising that Support Services should be available at all times when people need them, calling for a strong digital capability
• Identify relevant people and organisations and build relationships to enable better support around the UK for poeple with tinnitus.
• Work with all staff to ensure Tinnitus UK's information and engagement services are understood and well delivered by all staff.

2. Intergrated approach to service user involvement

• Continually analyse and understand the needs of people with tinnitus, care givers, regional co-ordinators, partners and other stakeholders and develop appropriate services to meet them
• Ensure Tinnitus UK's support group network maintain best practice and work with colleagues to identify under-performing groups and develop action plans for improvement
• Establish links with key internal teams and external bodies, managing risk and helping to evaluate our involvement in partnerships and collaborative work.

3. Understanding the needs of the tinnitus community

• Run focus groups to fully understand the needs of people with tinnitus

4. Develop Tinnitus UK's outreach services to people who experience tinnitus

• Lead strategic development of Tinnitus UK's helpline and other outreach services.
• Identify gaps in tinnitus support service provision and work with colleagues to ensure they are filled
• Ensure connectivity between service users' journey across Tinnitus UK's services
• Oversee development of Tinnitus UK's chatbot function in relation to tinnitus support

5. Volunteering and placements

• Work with relevant staff to develop the programme for internal and external volunteering opportunities designed to enhance service delivery and encourage growth of individual volunteers
• Coordinate placements as and when required to ensure the organisation benefits from them

6. Events

• Work with relevant staff to implement a programme of events (conferences, awareness events, training courses) to meet the needs of the tinnitus community
• Lead the innovation of events, using digital and other tools to widen their availability to make them more diverse

7. Quality

• Lead Tinnitus UK's work to assess social impact and value
• Ensure Tinnitus UK's tinnitus support services are founded on evidence-based research and that our advice to people living with tinnitus remains accurate and appropriate in response to developments in the treatment of tinnitus.
• Work with colleagues to identify underperforming services and drive improvement of standards and quality
• Work with staff and volunteers to ensure a high quality information service

8. Leadership

• Work as part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to ensure oversight of strategic and operational matters and support the Chief Executive
• Lead the development and delivery of Tinnitus UK's annual operational business for Services and contribute to the overall charity's business plan
• Provide evidence, data and ideas to support the fundraising team to develop proposals to underpin Tinnitus UK services.

Our Maintenance Assistants provide integral support in ensuring our three Battersea sites remain operational. We currently have an opportunity for someone with experience in general maintenance to join us and deliver a programme of planned preventative maintenance tasks. This work will keep our buildings, site, and equipment in the best condition possible.

Tasks will include maintenance of:
- Drainage
- Guttering
- Door furnishings
- Kennel and pen management
- HVAC and plant

You will also be involved in supporting discreet projects such as office moves, space conversions and other site and paddock improvements.
