SOCIAL SCIENCE RESEARCHERS (SSR)

As a member of The Working Group research team, our Social Science Researchers (SSR) study the human rights liberties and suppressions of women and girls within each country to identify and address social issues. They implement and manage research projects, collect and analyse data, and report findings of said research. Their work helps shape IWI’s policy decisions, social reforms, and human interactions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

o Understand the needs of the project, i.e. the research questions it needs to answer;

o Design an appropriate methodology to deliver the project;

o Design and write survey questionnaires;

o Apply a range of research techniques to gather relevant information, including document analysis, surveys, case studies and interviews (face-to-face, telephone and online);

o Liaise with and direct social research field interviewers to gather information;

o Gather information by directing or carrying out qualitative fieldwork;

o Conduct reviews of relevant literature and evidence;

o Analyse and evaluate research and interpret data using a range of analysis packages;

Sarcoidosis is a rare inflammatory disease which mostly affects the lungs, although other parts of the body such as the heart, eyes and nervous system can also be involved. It is not properly understood and there is currently no known cure.

SarcoidosisUK is a small charity with big ambitions! We want to make a difference to the lives of those affected by sarcoidosis in the UK by providing information and support, raising awareness and undertaking research into treatments and a cure.  We currently support over 9,000 people online and have strong relationships with both clinicians and patients.

We want to enlarge and strengthen our Trustee Board with the recruitment of new trustees who will bring their skills and passion to the work we do. The Trustee Board sets strategic direction for the charity, acts as guardian of our vision and values, and has responsibility for oversight and governance. 

We want our Trustee Board to represent our community, and welcome applications from anyone with an interest in sarcoidosis. To support the growth of the charity we are particularly looking for experience in the following areas:

The Board is friendly and informal and meets online early evening each month for no more than 2 hours. We have a small staff team, currently 3 in number, and therefore Trustees may be asked to provide direct input and expertise on occasion. Spero is a UK-born, newly formed, youth-led, non-profit global storytelling platform dedicated to sharing diverse perspectives from around the world. We're creating a place for people to look beyond their own borders and to learn and connect with the real lives and experiences of others everywhere. 

Our aim is to foster understanding and connection in an increasingly polarised world by sharing authentic stories, building empathy, and encouraging thoughtful dialogue. Part of our mission is to humanise global issues, making them more engaging and accessible - especially for young people who often feel disconnected from traditional news and politics.

We’re looking for motivated people with the passion, time, and curiosity to join our team. Our volunteer roles are a chance to gain meaningful experience, contribute to an impactful mission, and grow your skills in a supportive, creative environment. 

Spero is entirely volunteer-run, so these positions are unpaid and remote. But in return, you’ll gain hands-on experience in project management, communications, research, teamwork, creative production, and problem solving all while helping us build something that matters.

All volunteers should have:

• Interest in global issues and diverse perspectives.
• Ability to be proactive, work both independently and collaboratively, and manage time effectively.

Additional Requirements:​

• Experience in social media management and content creation with Canva (or similar design tools)
• Copywriting for Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc
• Graphic design
• Understanding of maintaining branding and visual identity
• Video media creation and editing
• Designing and executing social media strategy
• Conducting market research
• Measuring, tracking and interpreting analytics

What you need to know:

• Roles are part-time, flexible, and designed to fit around other elements of your life
• We are asking for a commitment of about 5-8 hours per week for a minimum of 3 months (but hopefully long-term if you enjoy our work)
• Our team meets on Mondays, 7:30–9:00 pm BST (attendance at most meetings is important, so make sure timing works if you’re international).
• Expected start date Monday 29th of September
• As a coordinator you will provide flexible support to your area of work as well as across the organisation. You will get the chance to take on an area or project with direct ownership and responsibilities.

Volunteer Role: Admin, Social Media & Fundraising Support

About Us

Whispaws Animal Sanctuary is a UK-based charity dedicated to rescuing and rehoming abandoned dogs and cats in Serbia. We provide veterinary care, rehabilitation, and adoption opportunities, and run sterilisation campaigns to reduce the street dog population. Our work also includes a street feeding campaign, ensuring that abandoned animals living outdoors receive regular food and care.

We are a small but passionate team, committed to improving animal welfare through hands-on rescue work, community outreach, and fundraising.

The Role

We are looking for reliable, proactive volunteers to join our team and support us with general administration, social media, and fundraising. You may choose to help in one area or across several, depending on your skills, interests, and availability. The work can be done remotely, although if you are based near Sevenoaks, Blackheath, or Chislehurst, there are opportunities to join our in-person fundraising events.

Key Areas of Involvement

General Administration

• Use Google Drive to organise and manage charity documents (training provided if needed)

• Input and manage data accurately

• Filing expenses using Google Drive

• Help with Sponsorship Programme management for dogs in our care

Fundraising

• Approach local businesses for sponsorships, donations, and event prizes

• Join the team in planning and advertising in-person fundraising events

• Support online fundraising campaigns through social media

• Suggest and help develop creative fundraising ideas

Social Media

• Share adoption posts across multiple platforms

• Take charge of posting existing prepared content to our channels

• Manage and update dog adoption profiles on Facebook

Who We’re Looking For

• Dedicated to animal welfare and making a real difference

• Honest and clear about what tasks they can take on, and follow through reliably

• Organised and able to complete agreed tasks in a timely manner

• Comfortable using (or quick to learn) Google Drive and basic admin tools

• Self-motivated, with good communication skills

• A bonus if based locally and able to attend events in person
