Overall Purpose
The Board of Trustees are responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity Ivybridgelink, supporting its values and developing the organisation's aime and objectives.
Main Responsibilities
- To ensure that the charity and its representatives function within the legal and regulatory framework of the sector continually striving for best practice in governance.

Main Duties
- Acting in the best interest of the charity, beneficiaries and future beneficiaries at all times.

- Overseeing sound financial management of the charity’s resources, ensuring expenditure is in line with the organisation’s objectives, and investment activities meet accepted standards.
- Overseeing recruitment processes following safer recruitment procedures.
- Monitoring the effective and efficient administration of the charity and its resources.
- To follow the IvybridgeLink confidentiality policy and maintain absolute confidentiality regarding all information shared or received.

As the board are responsible and liable for the governance and functioning of the charity,they are accountable in varying degrees to a variety of stakeholders, including: service users, members, funders, the Charity Commission, and Companies House. The Trans Legal Clinic is the first trans-led specialist gender identity legal practice and registered charity in the UK. The mission of the Trans Legal Clinic is simple; we provide free and accessible legal help to transgender and non-binary people in need. Our overarching vision is a society where all people have access to the legal resources required for gender self-determination and where gender diversity is not just accepted but embraced, with trans* people equipped with the necessary legal tools to navigate the world in their affirmed gender.
Service Introduction
The Social Media department is integral to our organisation. The social media team works together to create informative and entertaining content to build a community around the Trans Legal Clinic. We have assisted over 70 clients since October 2023.
Our Social Media department is made up of committed Social Media Content Officers, working under the Social Media Manager.
Key tasks and responsibilities
Design and Content Creation
Be adept and comfortable using Canva, with an eye for design.
Create engaging and eye-catching posts and content for Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn.
Write engaging captions and copy for social media content to drive engagement across social media channels.
Confident using video editing software and a willingness to learn new editing software as and when required.
Write and edit scripts for video posts.
Teamwork
Engage with assigned tasks and support other volunteers in the social media team.
Keep your fellow volunteers and manager updated on your content creation and any issues you encounter throughout the process.
Set out to reach team performance targets.
Attend team meetings and contribute to discussions.
Be respectful to colleagues and support good communication between all stakeholders.
Work with caseworkers to create content for specific raised issues.
Research and Outreach
Create resources for the organisation and those seeking information on our website in a digestible way.
Reach out to other organisations, especially those that work with trans* people, to collaborate and share knowledge and resources.
Conduct research into relevant topics and how they affect trans* and gender diverse people.
Review
Review and evaluate own performance to identify strengths and areas for development.
Undertake development and training opportunities.
General
Adhere to Trans Legal Clinic’s Policies and Procedures at all times.
Cover for other members of the team and department as necessary.
Be proactive in reviewing and evaluating own performance and identifying upon areas for improvement and development.
Undertake any other duties compatible with the level and nature of the role and/or reasonable duties required by more senior members of staff.
Attend and participate in external meetings and briefings as required.
Location: Mix of online and in-person meetings.
In-person meeting locations can be UK-wide but will most often be in Manchester or London. Most in-person meetings can be joined remotely if required, though in-person attendance is encouraged.
Estimate of time required: Approximately 1-3 hours per week on average. Approximately five Board meetings per year, some additional committee meetings and the Annual General Meeting. Most meetings take place during Monday-Friday, between 10am and 4pm. Trustee Directors are also expected to regularly read and respond to BABCP emails between meetings.

About BABCP: The British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) is a charity and the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in the UK and Ireland. We are a membership body with over 23,000 members and as a professional organisation we promote, improve and uphold standards of CBT practice, supervision and training. What we are looking for?: We are looking for up to two new lay people to join our Board as ‘Lay Trustee Directors’, meaning you will be both a trustee of the charity and a director of the company. Our Board is made up of ten Trustee Directors who are elected from within BABCP’s membership and up to three Lay Trustee Directors. We are looking for Lay Trustee Directors with a proven track record of excellence in their field, who can bring fresh perspectives and experience from other professional sectors and walks of life.
You should:
- Be able to take important decisions using sound, objective reasoning and with good attention to detail.
- Be willing to ask questions and constructively challenge the status quo.
- Be able to think creatively and strategically, while being committed to operating with integrity.
- Have the capacity to devote time and effort to the role.
- Understand the responsibilities of the position.
- Not be barred from acting as charity trustee or company director (further eligibility declarations and checks will be required if appointed).

What will you be doing?: As a Trustee Director you will, as part of the wider Board, oversee the organisational structures, systems, policies and resources in place to achieve the charitable objects of the Association. You will help ensure that BABCP exclusively pursues its stated purpose against a defined strategy and in compliance with its governing document and relevant legislation and regulation. You will attend our Board meetings, reviewing all Board papers in advance. You may also be asked to participate in additional committees or working groups focused on specific themes areas, taking into account your areas of expertise and interest where possible.
The role is voluntary and unpaid, though travel and approved out-of-pocket expenses will be covered.
How you will you make a difference?: There are very few who are not affected by the consequences of mental health difficulties in the UK and Ireland. By volunteering your expertise and experience with BABCP, you will ultimately be helping to improve the mental wellbeing of those nations and to protect the public who are directly or indirectly impacted by mental health issues.

The Guild is looking for a professional to join our Trustee Board as an External Trustee. The Trustee Board is ultimately responsible for overseeing the affairs of the Guild.
