Overview
We are seeking a proactive and innovative Digital Champion Volunteer to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in enhancing our online presence and driving our digital marketing initiatives. Could you make a difference as a volunteer Digital Champion?
We are looking for people with a good understanding of how to use computers,
smart phones and tablets to give peer support to people who are new to these
devices. You will help them to do things like:
• use Google
• set up an email account
• look for reliable health information online
• connect with friends and family using video calling
• use MS word to write a CV
• access job search websites
You need a good level of basic computer skills, but you don't have to be an IT
genius. Much more important is having enthusiasm and patience to spend some
time helping others to get online.

What will I be doing?
Our amazing Activity Volunteers play a key role in supporting blind children and young people to take part in a variety of activities. These range from sports, creative (singing, performing, art), audiobook club and day trips. The skills you have developed in your career and personal life will be invaluable to our young people.

Volunteers will be supporting people remotely, in their own homes and in the community within Nottingham and Nottinghamshire and ideally, we ask all applicants to provide a minimum of 1 hour volunteering a week.
The companion service volunteer can choose to be:
• A companion telephone/video caller
• A companion within the person’s home
• A companion outside the person’s home

Examples of the type of support the service offers include:
• Telephone / video calls for an older person/s on a regular basis at a mutually agreed time for a friendly chat.
• Supporting an older person/s hobbies and interests or simply chatting with them in their own home on a regular basis.
• Supporting with digital access & building confidence skills & motivation to access the opportunities of the internet.
• Supporting the person outside of their home e.g., by accompanying them on a walk, to the shops, to a café, garden centre, theatre or cinema or other social activities / community groups.
• Where appropriate, supporting the older person to access other services through information and signposting or referring to the Companion Service Coordinator for support.
We are looking for the following skills/interests:
• Individuals with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of older people who are committed to volunteering on a regular basis.
• Commitment to complete our Volunteer Report Form accurately and regularly.
• Ability to travel for visits in the local community either by car or public transport for those volunteers who choose to participate in this type of activity.
• Digital literacy for those volunteers who choose to participate in this type of activity.

IJAD is a dance company working at the intersection of performing arts and technology and we’re looking for volunteers to help us with our upcoming live/hybrid festival at Riverside Studios Hammersmith, OOTFest25 (UN)SEEN.
About OOTFest: OOTFest is a festival of live/hybrid performances, workshops, expert panel discussions and installations that will take you to unchartered new worlds via digital-immersive technologies. - Take photos and videos for social media, alongside the official photographer
- Create high-quality content for IJAD’s social media channels

- Assist the festival artists
- Greet attendees and answer queries
- Direct attendees around the venue
- Help with setting up and packing down
What will be required from you?

About Access Academia
Access Academia is the charitable umbrella which was created out of the creation of the student-led publication, the Journal of Intersectional Social Justice. When Journal of Intersectional Social Justice (JISJ) was created, there were not any expectations for the project to be any more than that: a student-led academic publication. The creation of the seminal Access Series on the Intersections blog springboarded the idea for the JISJ to turn into something much more than a simple academic publication. Now as we have restructured the JISJ into Access Academia, we are finalising our official registration as a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO) in the UK.
Our core purpose is to Make Academia More Accessible. We plan to accomplish this by many different avenues, as obviously it is a very wide-ranging goal! The main ways we plan to do this are through encouraging Open Access academia and knowledge sharing through the Access Series, expanding the themes covered on Intersections with additions such as Mental Health Mondays and Colonialism in Subject, creating accessible content across our social media platforms which encourages truthful and accurate knowledge sharing and activism, running research events to encourage students to publish and interact with academia, covering inside stories of academia, running student engagement programmes to try and make academia less of an Ivory Tower, and much more!
What is a Volunteership?
A volunteership is a unique hybrid opportunity that combines elements of volunteering and interning. Participants commit to working with a charity or nonprofit organization for a specified period of time, fulfilling a set of responsibilities and expectations. In return, they gain valuable experience, receive a letter of recommendation, and are offered LinkedIn endorsements. Additionally, they may have the chance to continue working with the charity through future hiring cycles as long as they remain a student. This experience provides both personal fulfillment through giving back to the community and professional development for future career opportunities.
Volunteership: Content Designer
Duration: May to August 2025
Eligibility: Must be currently enrolled as a student
Requirements:

Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate program.

Strong interest in content creation, design, and digital communication.

Proficiency in design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.).

Excellent written and visual communication skills.

Strong attention to detail and creative problem-solving abilities.

Ability to produce high-quality content under deadlines.

A portfolio or examples of previous work (e.g., social media graphics, posters, digital campaigns) is a plus.

Familiarity with social media platforms and trends (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.).

Passion for contributing to social impact and supporting charitable causes.
Duties & Responsibilities:

Content Creation & Design:

Design and produce a minimum of 2 social media posts per month, ensuring they are aligned with the charity's voice and branding.

Create engaging visual content for various platforms, including social media, newsletters, and website updates.

Work with the marketing team to develop creative concepts for campaigns and initiatives.

Content Strategy & Planning:

Assist in developing content strategies that resonate with the charity’s target audience.

Ensure content is on-brand, consistent in style, and optimized for different digital platforms.

Help create and maintain a content calendar, ensuring timely delivery of posts and materials.

Brand Consistency:

Maintain a consistent visual and written tone across all digital platforms.

Stay updated on design trends and digital marketing strategies to ensure content is fresh and engaging.

Collaboration & Teamwork:

Collaborate with internal teams and volunteers to ensure a consistent post schedule.

Contribute and attend all meetings for the Content Creation Team and directions from the Director of Content Creation.
