We are working in partnership with Hampshire Cultural Trust (HCT), who were established as an independent charity in 2014. HCT operate visitor attractions, galleries, museums, and arts centres across Hampshire, and are responsible for conserving and maintaining one of the largest and most significant regional collections of historical artefacts in the country. Their charitable purpose is to change lives through culture, both for Hampshire’s residents and for visitors to the county, placing particular emphasis on reaching individuals, groups and communities who are vulnerable or disadvantaged, breaking down barriers of access to arts and culture.

HCT are now seeking to appoint a Director of Development to lead and deliver a trust-wide strategic approach to fundraising, in alignment with organisational needs and priorities. The director will develop and lead a high performing team and will be responsible for growing income from a range of sources, including trusts and grants, individual giving and developing a philanthropy programme based on a portfolio of designated funds to support strategic projects and ongoing revenue funding. This role sits on the SLT, with shared responsibility for setting and realising the organisation’s goals, strategic priorities, and business plan.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:

• Significant experience in fundraising, including developing and implementing successful development strategies and securing income from a wide range of sources.
• Significant experience in securing philanthropic gifts at the five and six figure level.
• Strong track record in developing successful proposals and securing grants from trusts and statutory funders, with an ability to convey information in a concise, relevant, and compelling way.
• Experience of managing and developing high-performing teams, and senior stakeholder relationships, including donors and funders.
• Good working knowledge of charity finance, budgeting, and reporting.

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations you will provide operational management of the finance department of the school, ensuring accurate financial reporting, appropriate financial controls are in place, that cash is managed prudently and that the department provides timely and relevant support to the business

Key Responsibilities include:

• Manage the finance team and the day to day running of the Finance Department to support the operation of the Prep and Senior School and subsidiary companies.
• Prepare management accounts, including balance sheet for the School and its subsidiaries each month showing the financial performance and position of each entity compared with budget, and produce a concise commentary on variances and other matters of significance and review with the DFO

About the role

This role is responsible for managing and developing the charity’s portfolio of Trusts and Foundations, securing significant gifts and growing the long-term potential of this portfolio (target for 2024 is £378,000). There are no direct reports, however the successful candidate will be expected to work closely with Senior Management Teams, other departments and stakeholders to build and develop cases for support to help fund our much-needed work.

Reporting

About the role

This role will provide financial and operational leadership and management for CCLC particularly focussed on the Legal Practice Unit and the Migrant Children’s Project but with support for the Child Law Advice Service and Coram International where required. Managing a small finance team, the role will hold primary responsibility for core financial functions within CCLC including legal aid billing and management and tracking of grant and other charitable funding. Through systematic and efficient financial management, the post holder will play a pivotal role in CCLC’s financial sustainability. The role will act as a key point of contact with Coram’s central finance team and a range of internal and external stakeholders on financial matters.

The role will also oversee the smooth running of the London and Colchester offices through line management of operations and administrative staff.

The role would suit a high organised and efficient business support professional with experience of financial management within the legal or charity sector. In particular, candidates with experience of legal billing and more specifically, civil legal aid billing, would be welcomed.

This is a largely office-based role in order to fully provide support to the finance and operations team. To manage the day-to-day accounting and financial tasks, ensuring accurate recording of financial transactions, and providing support in the preparation of financial reports. Main Duties

1. Go through relevant financial procedures as necessary with new staff.

NASP operates through a hybrid model of working, with most work taking place remotely using Microsoft Teams for meetings and planning. We have an office space at London’s Southbank Centre which staff can use to work. Travel to this (and other sites) will be required from time to time for meetings, site visits, events, and away days.

Role Details & Staff Benefits

Salary: £32,000 per annum

Duration: 12 months (with possibility of extension)

Hours: Full time

Location: Hybrid – NASP have a permanent office space at London’s Southbank Centre, this role will be expected to work up to 2 days per week here, with the remainder worked remotely at home. There may also be additional travel required for staff days and other events.

Purpose of This Role:

This is a pivotal role to support NASP’s strategic aims to promote and spread social prescribing at a local, national, and international level.

The purpose of this role is to provide operational support and act as point of contact for the organisation’s Finance and People functions, as well as providing Programme support across the organisation, ensuring smooth running and continual improvement of NASP’s processes.

The role sits in the Operations team and will work closely with the Director of Operations, wider Operations colleagues, and external Finance, Legal and IT providers, as well as providing support across the organisation. This will include supporting on NASP’s Innovation programme.

Person Specification:

Knowledge of finance processes, including bookkeeping, year end, invoice & purchase order administration; and preferably experience of accountancy processes for charities

• Experience with accountancy software and systems (e.g. Xero, ApprovalMax, Soldo)
• Experience of developing, interpreting, and managing budgets, forecasts, I&E statements, cashflows, etc.
• Knowledge of HR processes and policies, including supporting staff as point of contact for enquiries
• Ability to manage sensitive information and maintain high levels of confidentiality & discretion
• Experience of project management/support
• Experience of detailed administrative & business support
• Interest in and/or experience of developing Wellbeing and EDIB policies and processes, to develop internal working culture
• Demonstrable ability to work in a complex organisation that works remotely, and draw people and teams together for projects successfully
• Highly organised, diligent, thorough and reliable
• Excellent IT skills and proficient at all relevant systems e.g. Microsoft

Responsibilities:

Finance

• Act as first point of contact for Finance enquiries, both internally and externally
• Manage the Finance mailbox, ensuring queries are dealt with efficiently
• Co-ordinate day-to-day financial operations, including processing of invoices, purchase orders, expense claims, reconciliations, etc.
• Overseeing virtual card system (Soldo) for NASP employees
• Supporting CEO, Director of Operations (DoO) and Director of Finance (DoF) on budgeting, forecasting, reconciliations, and year end process as required
• Working with external Finance provider (Carpenter Box) to support processes
• Attending regular finance catchups, supporting these meetings and providing feedback on issues & processes
• Provide support to colleagues on NASP’s financial systems (ApprovalMax, Xero, Soldo, etc.), including developing and running training sessions as required
• Ensuring online and paper filing of NASP finance documentation is accurate, organised, and kept up to date

People, HR & Recruitment

• Act as first point of contact for staff HR enquiries, e.g. policy, annual leave, absences
• Work with DoO and CEO on HR matters where needed (supporting meetings, liaising with staff)
• Support line managers on annual appraisal and probationary review process
• Support on recruitment, including developing job documentation, posting job adverts, liaising with candidates and managing enquiries, scheduling and supporting interviews
• Work closely with the Executive Assistant for onboarding and induction of new starters, including arranging for IT equipment to be shipped
• Proactively identify ways to improve and streamline People & Culture processes
• Drafting and issuing contracts for freelancers, using NASP standard templates
• Support on People-related working groups, e.g. EDIB and Wellbeing

Programme Support

• Provide administrative support for colleagues on specific projects/programmes as required, including NASP’s Innovation programme (e.g. sending network updates, developing case studies for Innovation Hub, uploading data to NASP’s CRM system)
• Manage and minute meetings, including sending agendas, noting actions, and diary management
• Providing input and support on related areas of expertise (Finance, HR, Operations) to colleagues across the organisation, e.g. developing budgets or advising on organizational policies
• Monitoring and evaluation of programmes, to improve effectiveness (including financial evaluation)

Other Responsibilities

• Work with Operations team on improving and developing processes across the organisation, e.g. Wellbeing, EDIB, staff days, events
• Deputise for Operations team colleagues as needed to cover annual leave (e.g. supporting on meetings or managing correspondence)
• Work with external IT provider (Logicata) to support staff with helpdesk enquiries, and delivery/return of equipment as needed

Job title: Regional Director, East and Southern Africa
Principal Location: Nairobi (other strategic locations in East Africa negotiable)

Role Purpose:

Street Child is a rapidly growing, child-focused, humanitarian and development organisation. In 2023, Street Child celebrated reaching over one million children across 25 countries over its fifteen years of existence. This was accomplished with and through a growing network of more than 200 national and local actors. The Regional Director will be a standard bearer of this ambition in East and Southern Africa, providing leadership across all countries where Street Child is operational while monitoring and pursuing growth opportunities across the region. As Street Child’s most senior representative in the region, the Regional Director will guide and drive the organisation to deliver on the objective of ensuring all children are safe, in school, and learning.

As Street Child actively seeks opportunities to expand its support for the most marginalized girls and boys, the Regional Director will be responsible for providing outstanding leadership and for resourcing and delivering high impact programming across East and Southern Africa. The Regional Director will work to identify and advance partnerships with regional, national, and local actors, as well as donors. This will require bringing a strong network to the role along with energy to represent Street Child in organisational, regional, and global forums. As Street Child country teams drive delivery for girls and boys, the Regional Director will work with country directors to develop high-functioning teams to deliver and resource ambitious regional and country strategies.

The Regional Director will manage one regional programme coordinator and will progressively assume responsibility for line management of country directors in East and Southern Africa.

Key Responsibilities:

• The Regional Director will act as chief motivator, working collaboratively with country, regional, and head office teams to:
• Cultivate enthusiastic and high-performing teams through outstanding leadership:
• Build, lead and motivate an ambitious and enthusiastic team of Street Child Country Directors and Strategic Leadership Teams.
• Oversee and support the recruitment and development of passionate, motivated, and technically excellent Street Child staff.
• Strengthen Street Child’s culture of learning, for both staff and local partners, by identifying professional and organisational development opportunities that respond to self-identified capacity gaps.
• Build a supportive network of learning and information exchange between regional county teams.
• Be a frequent in-person presence in operational countries, sometimes spending extended periods to support leadership at the country level, including in insecure contexts.
• Oversee the management of partnerships in countries in East and Southern Africa where Street Child does not maintain a direct presence.
• Drive resource mobilization across the East and Southern Africa region, for country programmes, regional strategy, and partners:
• In close collaboration with country leadership, identify country-level needs, seek out opportunities, and support in the development of winning proposals for country programmes.
• Across the region, identify needs and gaps, and drive new potential expansion opportunities in line with Street Child’s global strategy.
• Guide programmatic excellence across the region through robust strategy development and high-quality programme delivery:
• Develop a technically robust and evidence-based regional strategy that identifies Street Child’s comparative value and strategic goals in the region, across humanitarian, development and refugee contexts.
• Continuously consult with Country Directors, programme managers and local partners to ensure programme design and delivery is iterative, adaptive and quality-assured and impact is clearly measured.
• Provide support to local partners to develop organisational development plans and their own high-functioning leadership structures.
• Oversee and work closely with the regional finance team in their development and delivery of accurate, value for money budgets and robust operational processes.
• Ensure that operations and programmes in East and Southern Africa are conducted in line with Street Child’s policies and standards, including in the areas of safeguarding, safety and security, HR, finance.

1) Be a passionate representative of Street Child and our partners, across the organisation and in external forums:

• Represent Street Child at the highest level in East and Southern Africa, including pro-active participation in relevant coordination mechanisms at national and regional level.
• Represent Street Child and the needs of children in East and Southern Africa in global for a as required.

2) Advance and diversify partnerships with the local actors who respond to the needs of girls and boys in their communities, and with donors who can resource the work:

• Lead the development of strategic partnerships with relevant actors including donors, INGOs and local/national government, including at the regional level.
• Oversee the development of a resource mobilisation strategy for the region based on Street Child’s expertise and donor priorities.
• Lead and/or support Country Directors in the development of high-quality and highly competitive institutional funding proposals.
• Proactive engagement with Street Child UK head office and programmes team on strategic, networking and fundraising activities.
• The Key Responsibilities provide a high-level view of the Regional Director role. These responsibilities will evolve as the Regional Director expands Street Child’s reach across East and Southern Africa. Street Child operates with an entrepreneurial spirit that may require staff to step-up and step-in to reasonable tasks beyond the initial description of their role. The Regional Director may occasionally be called upon to provide surge or scoping support to other parts of Street Child Programmes as delegated by the Director of Global Programmes.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Significant senior management experience, leading high-functioning programme regional or county teams in the humanitarian and development sector. Previous experience as a country or regional director is preferred.
• Strong strategic thinker, with demonstrated expertise developing, resourcing, and delivering strategic plans at the regional or country level.
• Demonstrable experience of proposal development and/or winning funding; Experience in both humanitarian and development contexts.
• Strong command of the localisation agenda, and commitment to local level leadership and decision-making.
• Strong experience delivering high quality education and/or child protection programming.
• Excellent written and spoken communications in English.
• Experience working in the East and Southern Africa region.
• Demonstrated experience working closely with and in support of a multitude of partners including those from local civil society, government, and the private sector.
• Excellent relationship building skills, with an ability to skillfully navigate both national and international stakeholders.
• Willingness to actively engage in program development with country teams including extended missions to support at country level (significant travel expected).
• Additional language skills with a preference for Swahili, Portuguese, French, Somali, or other regional language
