Job description

Salary £45K+

Drinkaware is an independent UK wide alcohol education charity which exists to help reduce alcohol-related harm by helping people make better choices about their drinking.

Never has it been more important to deliver brilliant communications to reduce alcohol harm across the UK. As we emerge from the pandemic, our sector-leading research programme has found that certain groups have been drinking more (as well as many others drinking less).

We are looking for a top-notch communications and media expert, passionate about the power of brilliant communications to deliver positive change. If you have a strategic brain but also love to role your sleeves up, then this is the role for you.

Our next media and communications manager will oversee Drinkaware’s integrated strategic communications approach, leading a small but brilliant media and communications team whose remit spans media, PR, stakeholder engagement and internal communications. They will also support our social media and content agendas.

They will be an all-rounder, great with both words and people. They will be able to take a step back to see the bigger picture and plan for the future, yet keen to leap on important opportunities as they arise.

Please download and read the attached job description carefully before deciding to apply. This role is a full-time role of 35 hours a week.

Drinkaware offers 28 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, a matched 5% pension scheme, life assurance cover, a range of discounted offers and perks, an Employee Assistance Programme, remote working one day a week (although all teams are working from home at present), a season ticket loan, support for your professional development and a fantastic office in a great, central location near Moorgate and Liverpool Street stations.

To apply, please reviewed the attached job description and person specification and then submit your up-to-date CV with a personal statement of not more than 2 sides of A4 demonstrating how you meet the requirements. It is essential that you include a personal statement to fully demonstrate how you meet the person specification for this role. Submit your CV and personal statement via email by 5.00 pm on 31 May 2021.  Interviews will be held on Friday 11 June and shortlisted candidates will be notified by 4 June.  Please be aware that regrettably, due to the anticipated volume of applications, not all candidates will receive a response.  If you have not been contacted by us by 7 June please know that you have not been shortlisted for an interview.  You must be able to provide evidence of your eligibility to work in the UK.

Please note that you must submit both your CV and a personal statement detailing how you meet the person specification requirements. Without both of these it is unlikely you will demonstrate the necessary skills, knowledge and experience needed for the shortlisting process.

Interviews may be conducted in person or remotely via Teams or similar video call facility dependent upon Covid safety considerations.

Location: UK Office (Moorgate, London) and home-based*

*Due to the ongoing pandemic, we are unlikely to be fully reopening our London office for a period of 2021. Therefore, the role will involve a mixture of office and home working.  We will continue to review the situation in line with government guidelines.

We are not seeking agency support at this time.
