Motivated by our Christian faith, our mission is to create opportunities for autistic people, those with learning disabilities and their families to thrive in local communities.

We’re looking for an ambitious fundraiser to successfully implement key objectives within our five-year fundraising strategy to enable our community projects to thrive and grow. The successful candidate will be able to work independently with a proactive attitude, as well as working collaboratively within our wider team.

This is an exciting role that would suit a fundraiser who is looking for a new challenge, someone who has a successful track record in securing grants & leading fundraising initiatives and who wants to move to the next stage of their career by leading on a multi-faceted 5-year fundraising strategy for a small but growing grass roots organisation. This involves:

• Trusts and foundations
• Monthly giving campaign
• Community fundraising events
• Major donors and corporate sponsorships

About the Role

This is a part time role, 3 days (22.5 hours) per week

It will be offered as a permanent contract with a full time equivalent annual salary of £37,000 - £40,000 (pro rata £22,200 - £24,000)

This is a hybrid role with one day per week at our office address of School 360, Sugar House Lane, Stratford, E15 2QS. The other two days can be worked from home and/or for community visits as needed across the London Borough of Newham

As our Director of Mass-Market Fundraising for AIUK you will be a successful senior mass-market fundraising leader, who will lead our mass-market fundraising directorate to significantly improve mass-market fundraising performance and delivery here in the UK, and so strengthen AIUK’s ability to defend human rights in an even more challenging world.

Are you an innovative and certified Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM professional who wishes to be a valued member of a busy and friendly fundraising team, taking responsibility for the management of the charity’s future Dynamics 365 CRM? 

The charity shall shortly begin the discovery phase of its CRM project, to deliver its future Dynamics 365 CRM.  The new Dynamics 365 CRM will be at the heart of the charity’s success, to deliver excellent supporter data quality for its fundraising and communication campaigns to supporters. 

Reporting to the Director of Fundraising, and collaborating closely with the Head of IT, CRM Project Manager and Data Analyst, the CRM Officer shall be a vital and visible role, fundamental to the charity’s fundraising success, to further its vision of a world where every horse is treated with respect, compassion and understanding.

Through your proven Dynamics 365 CRM skills and experience, you will also lead on the charity’s CRM business processes and data quality, collaborating with fundraising, communications, IT and finance stakeholders, colleagues and third party suppliers.

Location

About the role:
As the Head of Philanthropy you will lead and inspire a team dedicated to generating and growing income from high-value donors, corporate organisations, and charitable trusts and foundations.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver the Philanthropy Plan in line with the Organisational and Fundraising Strategy to maintain and grow sustainable income from major donors, corporate partnerships and trusts and foundations

Leukaemia UK and You 

We have recently invested in growing our fundraising team so that we can fund more life-changing research to increase our understanding of leukemia as a disease, and accelerate the development of kinder, more effective treatments. This includes investment to grow the public fundraising team, develop new fundraising products, recruit new supporters, and increase legacy giving through targeted campaigns. 

We are also in the process of developing our new 5-year fundraising strategy, so you will be instrumental in creating an ambitious new plan to develop a diverse and sustainable mass fundraising portfolio, covering the key areas of donor acquisition, retention, and growth, with a focus on maximising our Challenge and Community events portfolio, and increasing Legacy, In Memory and Regular giving.  You will be responsible for developing and delivering a portfolio of products to grow voluntary income, whilst leading a newly expanded and ambitious team. And you will help shape our data strategy, working with the Head of Digital and other colleagues across the organisation to develop our digital fundraising strategy; embed usage of our CRM and ensure GDPR compliance.

Requirements - Skills and Experience

• Demonstrable experience of strategic leadership and oversight of a mass fundraising product portfolio.
• Proven experience of managing an engaging Community and Challenge Events fundraising portfolio.
• Proven experience of driving Legacy and In Memory giving to create a robust long-term pipeline. Experience of successfully developing and implementing legacy marketing strategies.
• Proven experience of applying the principles and techniques of Individual Giving / Direct Marketing within a multichannel, multi-discipline environment to deliver significant returns and supporter satisfaction, especially through supporter recruitment channels. 
• Experience of fully integrating a CRM database as a tool in the day-to-day work and running of a charity. 
• Demonstrable experience of managing a high performing team, focussing on creating a culture where people thrive as individuals and can be their best selves.
• Experience of managing multi-channel media campaigns by utilising print and digital channels including social media and email.
• Good experience of building effective relationships with internal and external partners, including creative freelancers, media and direct marketing agencies.

• Strong project-management experience, including managing budgets, schedules, creative development, and supplier relationships for fundraising direct marketing campaigns.

• Excellent specialist knowledge of the principals and methods of Public Fundraising, including Challenge Events, Community, Legacy, In Memory and Individual Giving.
• Understanding of the effective development and use of supporter contact strategies, turning analysis and insight into high performance activity.
• Up-to-date knowledge of current digital fundraising trends, including social media marketing.
• High Level knowledge of Salesforce CRM databases and how best to utilise to steward supporters.
• Knowledge and experience of marketing processes and techniques across varied channels.
• High Level knowledge of legacy administration. 
• High Level knowledge and understanding of charity law in relation to legacy fundraising, GDPR, PECR, data protection and other relevant fundraising regulation.

• Location: We are very flexible! Our hybrid working policy is a minimum of two days per month in our London office unless it’s a role requirement to be in more frequently. The Henry Jackson Society (HJS) is the UK’s boldest think tank and policy-shaping force, constantly ahead of the curve on the big issues of international and domestic importance. We are currently looking for a Director of Research to help lead us permanently on the next stage of our organisational journey, which has already taken us to the status of a household name in the international political and media constellation. 

When HJS was founded back in 2005, the global environment was very different to what it has become today. Over that time, the threats to the free world internationally and to free societies domestically have multiplied, but there has been one constant: HJS’s willingness and ability to fight for the principles and alliances which keep societies free – working across borders and party lines to combat extremism, advance democracy and fundamental human rights, and make a stand in an increasingly uncertain world. 

Reflecting this, our work is focused into two main streams: “Securing our Societies” and “Advancing the Free World”. “Securing our Societies” focuses on threats to free societies within the West, while “Advancing the Free World” examines how the enemies of the free world are operating internationally. Obviously there is interplay between the two streams as the challenges we face are often not as obliging as to lend themselves to easy classification!

What We Are Looking For

In order to meet our ambitious agenda and to augment our existing capabilities, we need a Director of Research to provide strategic oversight for all HJS research and to act as an integral part of the senior management team. You will also be responsible for your own research programme like any other Research Fellow, in order to produce output in your area of expertise.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious candidate to develop their skills and profile further and will suit people ready to take on a challenging and exciting role at an organisation that can offer profile development as it increases in size and scope, as well as those with existing management expertise looking for a new challenge at the leading edge of the public debate. 

You will play a critical part in our future development in a proactive role which will require you to create, manage and expand HJS research capabilities. You will have experience of managing colleagues and working to defined objectives, as well as a proven record in fundraising not just for your own projects but also for wider goals. With colleagues in the research, communications and policy departments to assist, you will be playing the lead role in managing and directing our research output and strategy, as well as developing and delivering profile-raising material of your own.

This position is an opportunity for a motivated and well-rounded individual to work in a pivotal and challenging role where no two days are the same, and which provides the opportunity for career growth in an organisation looking to evolve domestically and internationally. Above all though, we want you to be passionate about our issues and hungry to make a difference in the public policy world – recognising that this is not a normal 9-5 job where you switch off once you turn off your laptop because (a) you don’t want to and (b) you understand that this is not how the policy world works. Main Duties

• To conceptualise, plan, lead and execute the research programme and special projects;
• To develop existing projects and create new ones in order to boost the written, oral and programmatic output of HJS, and to ensure that there is a steady pipeline of work being published in internet and physical form; 
• To structure the department in order to manage research staff, increase their productivity, develop their skills and ensure that they meet agreed deadlines; 
• To peer review, proof and edit research output; 
• To provide reports on progress, delays and changes to the research programme; 
• To identify and develop revenue streams from research content, and to provide an overview of research funding secured and research expenditures through the budgeting and reporting process; 
• To help develop a collegial, united and inspiring atmosphere for all staff across the organisation; 
• To conceptualise, plan and execute a series of exciting research projects over the course of each year, complete with deliverables, ensuring compliance with good practice in relation to the conduct of research; 
• To conduct your own high quality research and writing, including contributing to drafting funding bids and proposals; 
• To engage in public speaking and media commentating; 
• To ensure media placement of the Society written output in association with colleagues and monitor the frequency and quality of this output, in addition to third party references to research; 
• To develop a network of professional, political and media contacts within your field of expertise; 
• To fundraise/secure grants to support your work; 
• To promote your work and represent your discipline and the work of HJS internally and externally, and to act as part of the HJS family in supporting colleagues doing the same.
