Overview of role:
The Toy Appeal Campaign Assistant plays a vital role in helping to coordinate Family Action’s Christmas Toy Appeal campaign -
· You will liaise with companies, groups, our services and partner charities to ensure the timely delivery of over 10,000 toys and gifts to disadvantaged children and young people
· You will be the first point of contact for the Toy Appeal, responding to enquires from organisations wishing to take part in the appeal, and internal colleagues receiving gifts.
What’s it like working with us?
This role sits within our small but high achieving fundraising team which was Shortlisted for Fundraising Team of the Year 2021 at the Third Sector Awards. The Team sits within our Directorate of Development and External Affairs, alongside our communications and brand, digital, business development and impact and influencing teams. Our role is to raise voluntary and some statutory funding for Family Action.
In the case of corporate, community and events fundraising, this means a mix of restricted and unrestricted funding. The team is well supported in our work by the Senior Leadership Group and Executive Group (Directors). The Corporate Partnerships team, comprising this role, three Corporate Partnerships Managers, Fundraising Administrator and the Head of Corporate Partnerships. The team works closely with colleagues across brand, communications and digital, with activity integrated into organisation-wide Christmas campaign.

About the role

About the role:
The HALO Trust has more than doubled in size over the last eight years by growing support from both Governments and philanthropic donors. Global income from philanthropic donors (including the US) has significantly increased over the past five years – from circa £4 million to £15 million in 2022/23 and reaching a further peak of £44 million in 2023/24 in response to exceptional donor support for Ukraine. Job Responsibilities:
- Lead growth within a portfolio of high value (six and potentially seven figure) relationships by providing excellence in supporter stewardship and through the development and delivery of relationship strategies, in collaboration with the Director of Philanthropy and Head of Global Grant Partnerships
- Support senior HALO staff, advocates and trustees to engage and inspire individuals linked to agreed relationships

Essential Requirements:
- Three years' experience of personally leading successful relationships with high value philanthropic donors (Trust and Foundations, corporates or high net worth individuals or equivalent), including those giving at the six or seven figure level
- Experience of building effective relationships with advocates linked to philanthropic donors
- An excellent communicator with the ability to build relationships with staff and colleagues in different cultural environments
- Outstanding written skills with the ability to work with programme and finance colleagues to design robust project proposals, reporting, and monitoring and evaluation
- Confident in working with financial information including project budgets
- Excellent written and verbal skills with strong attention to detail
- Outstanding interpersonal skills including ability to demonstrate tact, sophistication and gravitas
- Experience of working with a fundraising database to maximise relationship development

We’re looking for a creative-loving Marketing Communications person to join our digital content team at Hospice UK. It’s a really exciting chance to jump into a pivotal role here, and facilitate much of the great visual content that we produce as a team.
You’ll be working with some lovely people in the wider Communications and Campaigns team, which is part of an External Affairs directorate. We’re a small, close-knit department but already this year we’ve achieved some truly mighty results – not least, our recent rebrand, new strategy and new visual identity.
As you might imagine, working at a hospice charity brings with it some truly compassionate people. It’s a really lovely place to work because the people make it so. As Senior Marketing Communications Officer, you’d be part of a team of three, including your line manager (Senior Digital Marketing & Campaign Manager), and Membership Communications Officer.
And yes – as a hospice charity, we do work with death and dying on a daily basis. But it’s not all doom and gloom. Actually, by talking about it, writing about it and sharing stories about it, we’re helping to remove the stigma and taboo that it often comes with. And those stories and communications help give people hope, strength and confidence, sometimes when they need it most.
As Senior Marketing Communications Officer, you’ll be looking after a lot of our more creative, aesthetic products and projects. You might already be working as a Marketing or Digital Marketing Officer or Coordinator, and looking for the next step for your career. Or you could be an established Marcomms professional searching for a new challenge. Maybe you’ve already been in a marketing management position and want to get back to doing what you love!
Either way, you’ll be pretty knowledgeable on how to look after digital channels like social media and websites, and will have some experience of both. You might have some photoshoot management and video projects under your belt too, and ideally you’ll have experience of managing a digital asset management system. The role will also involve some print project knowledge, so it would be really handy if you’ve looked after relationships with designers, printers and know how the process works (and what gsm our new Impact Report should be, for example!)
We don’t expect you to be a brand specialist, but hopefully you’ll have experience of working with an organisation’s brand book, tone of voice and visual identity guidelines. That’s because many people in other teams here will turn to you for guidance on how to use our new brand, which logo or font to use, and requests to source appropriate photography in our house style.
We’re looking to bolster our content and storytelling about compelling hospice care, and we’d love someone to join us with ideas on how to elevate that, and help source and write those stories up for us. Part of your role as Senior Marketing Communications Officer will be to help produce content – stories, videos, photos, resources – to our two major national campaigns: Hospice Care Week, and Dying Matters Awareness Week. - Lead on the organisation learning and development program drawing on the outcomes of the performance management process and with input from senior leadership team to identify priority capacity development needs.
- Work with SLT to develop career paths that help grow internal talent pool.
- Review and update HR policies, contracts and procedures to ensure they support gender equality, diversity and inclusion.
About you
- CIPD Qualified with experience in a senior HR role
- Strong knowledge of equality, diversity and inclusion best practices and regulations
- Experience of working for an INGO or similar global non-profit entity
- Solid understanding of employment legislation
- Experience working effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience of delivering on HR change and transformation projects would be beneficial
- Proactive and consultative approach with the ability to work in fast pace environment
- Hands-on experience with Human Resources Management Software (including payroll and absent management systems)
- Knowledge of data analysis and reporting
